My cat LOVES milk rings - you know the little ring that's left when you break the lid to open a gallon of milk? He comes running everytime he hears someone get into the fridge just in case they're going for the milk. Lately he's been playing with them in the middle of the night, so you wake up to "thump thump thump" as he pounces up and down the steps. Right now he has 3 and we just took them off of him a little while ago so we can NOT wake up to him tumbling down the steps.

And now he's obsessed with finding them. He's running room to room crying (and he's a Siamese so he doesn't meow like a normal cat - it's a very loud "mow wow") We just caught him on the kitchen table trying to find them. He has sniffed every corner of the floor, LOL. He's relentless. He keeps yelling at us too. He'll stand in front of me and chatter "mowmowmowmowmow" - he only does that when he's angry, LOL. What's really funny is that there are 3 plastic rings in the middle of the floor that were bought at the pet store. Same basic idea, but he wants nothing to do with them - he only wants the milk rings.

I don't know why we waste money on real cat toys. Whoever said cats aren't as interesting as dogs never met mine :lmao:

We thought we had the only "different" cat. He won't have anything to do with a store-bought cat toy, but he likes the milk cap rings, a box, a sack, a string, etc. My daughter bought me back a WDW pen with a feather on top as a silly souvenir, and I heard him going crazy one night. He was having a blast with that thing, but he was tearing the feather to shreds, so I rescued it. I've thought about just getting a feather and taping it to a pencil to replicate that toy for him. How weird is that? He's a strange fella, but we love him to pieces. He thinks we buy shoes and groceries just so he can sit in the boxes or hide under the sacks. He comes running at the sound of the can opener, hoping it's tuna so he can have the scraps left in the can. If we can't find him, we just get out the can opener and click it a few times, and he comes running. Crazy cat. But, he's our crazy cat, and we'll be very sad when he's not around any more for us to make fun of.

One of ours is obsessed with pipe cleaners. Same thing as you describe - she goes NUTS for them but we have to take them away at night. Her favorite trick is to push them under a door and then try to fish them back out. Problem is, she does it with our bedroom door, which is open about six inches at night, and inevitably ends up slamming it shut!

We finally took them away from her at night, and thankfully she searches quietly. She knows where we hide them, though, and first thing when I get up she RUNS to the pantry door and waits for me to get them back out!

We have four other cats and a dog, and none of them are as obsessed with anything as Audrey is with the pipe cleaners. She's almost four years old, but is like a kitten with those things.

We had a cat that loved milk rings!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: She had at least 7 of them around at all times. Her name was Little Bear and she was the sweetest thing. Just had a thing for milk rings. Would carry them around in her mouth and put them in her bed. God help you if you moved the rings. When she died we buried her with some of her favorite toys, yup a milk ring. Your story brought tears to my eyes. Thanks.

I think milk rings are the best cat toy out there!! My cat loves them. She also steals my hair elastics and the straws out my drinks. :)

Our 1st cat who we just had to put to sleep a few months ago (brain tumor) loved milk rings too, he also loved tinfoil balled up, would play fetch and everything. after reading this thread I can hear in my mind the sound of him at night playing with them, and yep the worse thing was when they went under a door, thump thump thump.....by the end of it he would think his tail was a toy and bite onto it and not let go as he cried in pain and rolled around (can't walk to well with your tail in your mouth).
our other cat (when he does play and not sleep or stalk the dog) actually loves the balls with bells in them from the store.

Milk rings, rubber bands, lizzards.....all fun things my cats love to play with!

Doesn't matter what I buy for them, they would rather play in the box it came in!

And one very gross thing about living in Florida.....

Finding a lizzard tail by itself...still moving.......only means the rest of the lizzard is somewhere in the house. :scared1:

Mine also love the milk rings!! They like pony tail holders too...I can never find any for my hair since the cats run off with them!!!

Our cats growing up loved the milk rings too....they would both come running when they heard you tear open a new gallon of milk.

My sister was telling me she should have patented the "milk ring" toy as she says she sees them selling in the stores now...
Her cats play fetch with them.

Her cats play fetch with them.

mine too with hair elastics. anyone have a laser pointer? chewie will beg and beg for us to pull it out of the basket on our dresser. it's a keychain and when she hears the rattling sound she goes nuts because fun time is about to begin!

My cat loves milk rings, too! (We call them milk tabs in our house). She goes nuts over them. She also loves bows. The kind that you peel off the back and then stick them on presents. She holds them down with her front paws and then licks them. She'll go on like that for a good 5 or 10 minutes at a time. She also loves to curl up in boxes (the smaller the better- which is hilarious since she weighs a little over 20 pounds!!) :lmao:

Cats are fun!

My cat Herb is also obsessed with pipe cleaners. He plays fetch with them like a dog. He hops up on our bed every morining and drops a pipe cleaner for us to throw. He runs after and brings it back and drops it again. I've never had a cat that played fetch before. :goodvibes

No fair! My cat plays "you tossed it so you can go get it b/c I'm not lifting a paw!"

I had a cat that loved Milk rings too. I went on vacation once and when I opened my suitcase at my destination, there was a milk ring inside LOL.

Both of my cats play fetch as well! They'll bring the little stuffed toys to me to throw. That usually goes on for quite awhile.

My oldest cat is obsessed with straws. He'll try to get the straw before you are even done using it. If you don't throw it away in a closed trash can he'll dig it out of the trash.

milk rings and "twisties" the things that tie a loaf of bread. Kai loves those. Chica ( the snob) looks at him with great disdain but Kai plays like a kitten with them anyway.

Milk rings here as well - all night long in the bath tub. THUD THUD THUD, up the sides and slide back again, turn your back and pounce when "it" isn't looking. :lmao: I even found a ring in a pair of socks I took to the office to wear later.

Bits of plastic too. Like cellophane. It doesn't matter how deeply I hide it in the trash, Beanie pulls it out and carries it around the house. She will carefully set it down next to her dish while she eats.

Nearly peed myself last night. I caught her going through the sanitary pads bag. Pulled out 3, selected one, tore off the wrapper. Then proceeded to the kitchen with the whole wrapper in her mouth. It was sticking up the air so she couldn't see, so she pranced. Alot of decision making when it came time to blindly jump up on the bookcase !! But she made it. Little bugger.

She also loves bows. The kind that you peel off the back and then stick them on presents.

We can't put bows on Christmas presents because he'll rip them off one by one and attack. We keep a bag around and when we take a gift somewhere, put the bow on as we're leaving the house, or put on one just before someone comes over.

Oh and as of this morning, he got his rings back and he's happy.

I have 2 Siamese (20 month old sisters). They love the rings. Wendy will dig and dig while on the sofa or love seat because she just knows there are some hiding down there. She plays fetch with them and brings them to us to flick. I have baskets of "cat" toys but no, they are not good enough!

Minnie has a tiny beanie red bear that she tosses all around. We have hard wood floors and they love to play in the middle of the night.
