I woke this morning and was having my coffee and checking my email and I told my wife that I smell something, she said she thought she did too, but we didn't think anything of it.
I went out and watered the plants and when I came in it hit me like a freight train - I SMELLED SKUNK!!!! I looked for the pets and found Little Kitty
(sleeping in the laundry room in a clean basket of laundry
), he was the culprit - he had got skunked!
I went and got a can of tomato juice out of the pantry and applied it liberally to Little Kitty, but it did not work. I then did a quick internet search and found a recipe for eliminating the skunk smell. Here is the recipe:
I didn't have all of the ingredients so I needed to make a fast trip to Safeway. I picked the stuff up and came home. This time when I walked through the door the skunk smell nearly burned all of my nose hairs
(not really but it was baaaaaaaaaaad).
I mixed up the formula and applied it to Little Kitty. Needless to say he was not very happy. But to my surprise the magic formula did it job and removed the skunk smell!!!
I do need some help - I have lit several candles through out the house, do you think this will help?
Also, Little Kitty was sleeping in a basket of clean laundry. While I was at Safeway I bought some Downy with Febreze, do you think this will get the smell out of our laundry? Do you have any suggestions?
As you can see I have had an exciting morning today. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Ingredients:
1 quart (or liter) of never opened 3% Hydrogen Peroxide available in most drug stores.
1/4 cup (50 ml.) of Baking Soda
1 teaspoon (5 ml.) of liquid dish soap
Using a pair of rubber gloves mix the ingredients together IN AN OPEN container like a bucket and watch it get fizz up. Try to see where your pet got hit and rub the mixture well into the fur while avoiding the eyes, and other sensitive parts like the nose and mouth. Let it stay on for 5 minutes or longer if the smell keeps lingering. Rinse extra well. This usually works well once but you may need to do this twice if your pet took a particularly nasty spraying. The solution will not change the color of your pet's fur. DO NOT STORE or REUSE MIXTURE as it will build up pressure in a closed container and possibly explode. Dump it all after using it once.

Been there, Luckily Pita couldn't stand the smell herself, so she stayed on the porch.
