my budget way to solve the missing socks situation...

We have sock parties. When the mis matched socks get out of control, I invite the family to a sock party. No RSVP's are needed because it is a party you can not opt out of. At the sock partry, there is only 1 activity, find matches.
My kids have tried to get smart and "hide" single socks in their dresser, but I caught on. Before the sock party, I rumage thru their dresser in search of extras to bring to the party.

HEY!! time to crack out some drinks and invite all the neighbors to bring there socks too! mabey someone will have a match for yous and you can trade the off! you know sorta like one of those clothes trading parties!

We have all of the same socks. DFi has all the same black and all the same white. I have all the same white. Makes life simple :)

I saw this on Pinterest and am debating making one for our house

I just buy the same exact socks each time so if one gets lost I just match it up with another sock that lost it's match. Heck who amd I fooling they are all the same so they are never missing their match.

Do love the poster idea but I think I would throw out the mis matches instead of putting the time into the poster. lol

This is me too. I finally just gave up and the kids get white, grey or black socks. Same type and brand every time. It's the only way to keep my sanity.

Okay, now that I bought many pairs of socks all the same color ...

After a few months they are slightly different shades of color because some have gone through the wash more times than others.

So it is necessary to take all the clean socks out of the drawer and throw them in with the dirty socks, washing/rewashing all of them together each time (except perhaps the pair that is being worn that very day). Schedule the washday for socks when there are very few still in the drawer.

Unrelated: Turn all the socks inside out for every other washing. This prevents an accumulation of foot dandruff inside.

I cannot and will not wear mis-matched socks...

Even two different but similar white socks will wait for their mate in the sock bin...its just the way it is.

My daughter hasn't worn socks that match in 10 years! She does her own laundry or my husband does it so her socks don't get mixed in with mine. It saves a bunch of time folding - all socks go in a basket. She just picks two that she likes and she is done. When I have one sock wear out first, if she likes the other one, she adds it to the pile. Same if I genuinely lose a sock!

As an adult, I could care less if my socks match. 99% of the time no one else can see them.

Same here! DD is the same way at 16 it is not cool to wear different socks anymore.

I have a laundry bag that I throw the mismatched socks in. Every month or so, I'll go through it and pair them up. If a sock is solo for too long, I use it to polish furniture with and then toss it out. Holey socks also get used for polishing furniture.

When I was in high school the gym uniform was white or gray tshirt, red shorts and white socks. My girlfriends and I got together and decided to do a crazy sock day and we all wore mismatched socks. Every one of us got detention for it. If we had only patented the idea LOL!

I guess I am lucky, my girls purposely mismatch their socks when they wear them. We don't even waste the time finding pairs anymore! As much as their little habit drives me up a wall sometimes, it sure is a time saver!

DD = Mismatched socks are COOL and all the rage. Big thumbs up for me for this fashion trend makes the sock situation much easier.

DS = Mismatched socks are NOT cool, so buy him loads of the same kinds of socks.

Of course even still I have a whole drawer that houses "lost" socks. If the mate never shows in a few months time, it gets tossed out.

The mismatched socks trend has been the best trend ever!! My dds happily go to school in the most bizarre sock combinations they can find...and I DON'T CARE....because it has brought an end to the morning sock drama! Now it's almost time for "no socks" season.....my very favorite season of all!

I can never figure out how we lose so many socks. I have a big bin of mis matched ones and it seems like the mates never show up. I like the idea of making the kids pin them together, I may try that . DD9 will wear mismatched, but DD16 and DD14 won't. I love "no sock" season too!! Makes laundry do much easier!!!!

I have an empty plastic bag hanging from the inside of the bedroom door. Odd socks go there. About once month the bag is emptied and sorted. Socks with no mate go back into the bag till the next month and hopefully its mate will turn up by then.

There is a company that sells sets of three socks that match. I think that is a cute idea, but again I don't care about matching. ;)

ok, lots of people have lost socks. but no one has made any suggestions as to what the heck happens to them???????
& why socks? do you lose other things small?

I have dozens of orphans in a basket collected for years.

i KNOW the socks don't go down the drain ( ours has a catch in the tub it drains into.

also dryer & washer don't eat them.

so where do they go?? :confused3

under the bed, behind the dryer, in the bottom of the closet, in the underwear drawer, under the dresser, under the chair, etc.
