Day 2 - Sat October 29th
Sunny skies w/high of 86 degreees
Ok - so 5am came to me closer than I thought as I slowly (operative word there

) tumbled outta bed and into the shower. With thoughts of FOOD running thru my head, it still took me a bit to wake up and get out that door by about 5:45am ish.
Got in about an hour of fast walking (w/my I-pod of course listening to Disney music) b 4 I headed back in the direction of the Outrigger Hotel, my hotel room and into a nice hot shower.
NOW THAT DID THE TRICK!
Soon, I was fully awake and back out that door and into their grab and go restaurant; Seattle's Best. I chose to go that way for food since I had to skip on out the hotel and into my first on many excurisions, this one being "Grand Circle Island Tour Honolulu".
The food did the trick for me and soon, it was time for me to head off the to entrance of the hotel and onto my excursion and was there no later than 6:45am.
EDITOR'S NOTE:
It is here that I began to encounter quite an (mis)-adventure in finding/getting to the right tour motorcoach & in time, etc and yyeess, I do have an opinion on this but I would rather wait until the very end of my blog to express this which will be listed under, "Final thoughts and other observations."
By the way, this happened to me EACH AND EVERY TIME I HAD A SCHEDULED EXCURSION
It was only until I met Rita (Concierge; Hyatt Hotel - Maui) and staff did I feel truely rescued from the depths of what was beginning to be a vacation from "heck."
I truely owe Rita, James, etc at the Hyatt a true heartfelt "thank you" to turning this msiadventure into an adventure that I will never forget.
Moreover, because of Rita and the staff of the Hyatt; Maui - I am now in the process of working my way back thru
THEM in booking a vacation to San Francisco w/a stop on into the Hawaiian island of Kaui.
BUT HEY ------ this is supossed to be a POSITIVE blog remember?????
Fair enuf.
I digress.....more on this at the very end of my blog.

About my island tour of Oahu on this day:
The tour was quite nice and very informative but tho I do say that the tour Guide for the day (Bob) was rather dull and his presention came across as very scripted.
How do I know this/ feel this way?? I sat right behind him.
Just my opinion, you are more than welcome to disagree w/me as this is just my opinion.
On the bright side,
we did see where they filmed the beach scene from the movie, "From Here to Eternity" as well as the Blow Hole, etc.
I was feeling rather bored with this excursion and IMHO, I would not recommend it also becuz.....well.....I felt rather hurried as well. The places we saw were nice and all it's just I felt hurried and the tour Guide didn't engage his audience AT ALL.
Again, this is just my opinion.

NOW TIAKI (pronounced "TE-AW-KEE)......tour GUIDE ON "Heavenly Hana" island tour over on the island of Maui?????
*********** WONDERFUL*****

HE MADE THE TOUR R-O-C-K

------
More on him later.....I promise. he shows up in my blog I believe on day 5.
But fer now, back to the island of Oahu and the "Grand Island Circle" Tour:
Now IMO,
this excursion wud be GREAT i-f you did this on your own.
or as I "did" later on this day via a rather entertaining cab ride to the west side of the island.
Here are some
Pics from the Grand Island circle tour on island of Oahu:
and
Yes, we did visit the Diamondhead area and that place rocked but.......only 1-2 foot waves and 2) we only had 15 minutes to visit the area. ** Rushed - very rushed.
Some video shot from this tour:

So, we all finished w/the tour and tumbled out of the tour bus around 4:54pm and here is where my day (and my spirits) picked up cuz it was here I quickly ran into my hotel room, changed clothes - brushed my teeth and headed back out the door to the entrance of the Outrigger Hotel.
And into a scheduled cab ride to the west side of the island and a very important date with a very nice young lady named "Aulani."

I told this to the cabbie and he knew exactly where to go -
** DISNEY'S NEW HOTEL **
I brought w/me a bottle of that wonderful Pineapple wine I had purchased earlier and some smoked salmon/crackers to snack on during the hour cab ride (AND WAS VVEERRYY thankful it was the weekend such that the cab ride was ONLY 1 hour long).....kicked back and had a rather enjoyable ride checking out the scenery as the cabbie named Tony & I talked up a good storm as he makes for one excellent tour Guide.
Finally arrived at the Disney property and ok.......here is where I was plesently surprised by her layout.
Very expansive and pretty. Very well worth atleast a 3nighter/4 dayer kind of an island hop kind of a hotel stay and NO - that isn't an insult to her.
Dinner there was very nice and I felt that this was the "magic touch" I was needing to cap off a wonderful day.
OR WAS IT??
HINT: I have a hankering for some Key lime pie
So.......

***** ROADTRIP****
So off I went back to the other side of the island and into quite a bizzare wacky world of Margaritaville & Halloween festivities.
just caught the very end of some rather funky music while nibbling on some key lime pie there late this evening.
And a strawberry 'rita.....or two.

(video shot while at Margaritaville)
Was quite a treat listening to all the DOD and Navy patrons just a "trash talking

" the upcoming APEC meeting while I was at the bar.
Any yeeeessss - one of them said Mr Jimmy himself

was in earlier in the day !!
DANG!!!!
And I missed him!!
Anywho -
Got in late back to my hotel room and was very very thankful that it was only a short walk away.
Finally tumbled into bed around 2 feeling better about my adventure and looking forward to the next day:
