My 7 Month Vacation as a WDW Intern: MINI UPDATE 12/10

HALLOWEEN PARTY CONT....

So in front of the castle we stood and got there about 20mins early. We found a good spot. This family that came 10mins after us was pissed bc we were not sitting down...nor were we in the very front but sorry sitting on the ground was not in the cards for me. They ended up standing up 1/2 way through the fireworks when they noticed they were fired all around the park...

THE END!!!

100_2157.jpg

After the fireworks we headed towards Fron.land and were able to ride Splash and Thunder before the parade at 10ish. We got a good spot in front of Pecos because they said you'll get the most candy there during the parade. The parade started and as the headless horseman rode by this woman sneaks her way in front of me with a HUGE halloween hat..needless to say my pics were not so great of the parade :(...

:woohoo: Loving all the pictures! You got some really good ones of Hallowishes! Just a few more weeks and we will get to see it too. You guys definitely got to do a lot of rides during the party, which is why we love it so much. I love the picture of the ghost on the pavement-I never saw that one before. Very cool!

HALLOWEEN PARTY CONT...

So I guess I did not comment on the halloween treat bags. We were given them as we walked in the gate. Mom and I made our way to all the stops on the map. We loved the candy and like I did when I was little, when we got back to POP, we dumped out our bags and went through them and traded goods :)

After the parade we headed to POTC and then headed for the exit..before midnight. We rode everything we wanted to and so we headed back to POP for bed.

I saw this guy before we left...

Back at POP we dumped out our candy bags and went through them and traded things :) Mom of course brought hers home and gave most of it to Craig (my bro) but she ate some goodies as well. I got into the shower with my fairytale still intact and then passed out by 1am (tiara still in place!!).

My overall thoughts on the MNSSHP:

Candy stops..AMAZING AND GOOD CANDY!!

Fireworks show: Thought Pirate and Princess was WAYYY better. I went in with very high expectations with never seeing it so maybe that's why? It was a lot of high tech up-beat stuff which I didn't think was needed?

Parade: well done, thought once again Pirate/Princess was a tad better but the headless horseman was awesome as well as the Haunted Mansion float.

Rides: NOOOO WAITS!! I'm sure as it gets closer to Halloween it will get more busy.

Food options: LOVED Pecos Bills as always and loved the Halloween themed popcorn buckets :)

...overall thoughts...

liked it but would not pay full price to go again. When I go with my roomies we are going on a cast night, otherwise I would not pay $50+ to go when we can ride rides any time we want. It was another thing crossed off my list so yay for that!!!!!

Okay well I'm going to go watch tv but before I do that, I must recap my wonderful day!!!

Sadly I did not take any pics so I don't have them :( They will be on FB via Jenny at some point so we'll see...

So the day started off with breakfast at Kona Cafe at POLY. As you all know, we LOVE Poly and visit there often :) After breakfast we headed to CR. Meghan and I were to go parasailing but I told Jenny she could go instead and what a great move I made! While they were paying elyse and I decided to take a jet ski out. It ended up being around 30 each which was way less than parasailing. We had to go out with a guide, who btw was VERY cute in that bleach blonde beach boy kinda way. He told us the rules of the jet ski and off we went. Elyse and I rode together on one and the guide on another one. Ours went 30mph, his 50+mph. We headed in the back along the trees of Bay Lake and then we were on the loose! We took turns driving the jet ski. Elyse had paid for a 1/2 hour but we were out for an hour :) While we got out there we saw meg and jenny high in the sky! 1/2 way through (or so we thought), we decided to switch so I could drive :) I was scared at first and then LOVED it!! We did not tip it :) Elyse and I switched again (w/o the help of the guide to hold us :cool1: ) and drove until she had a great idea..us riding with the guide. We don't think that is 100% allowed but he agreed anyways! Elyse went first and I drove behind them and I see them do a figure 8 and then in an instant i see them leaning to the left and plop they went into the water  :rotfl: Elyse's words "I just couldnt hold on any longer haha" The guide lost his sunglasses which elyse was sorry for :( It was then my turn and we did not do any sharp turns :cool1: After that I jumped back onto the Jet ski with Elyse and headed towards CR docks.

After we got safely on the dock, we exchanged numbers with the guide who is 23 :) and he told us he would be glad to take us out again on his day off..for free :) Gotta love connections :) We then met up with Jenny and Meg and headed for DHS. We got there around 330 and rode Tot, RnR and Indiana Jones. After that we were BEAT and headed to dinner at Friendlys. Not as great as Steak n Shake but still a good choice. We dropped Jenny off and were home by 8. After a shower and packing of lunch for tomorrow here I am!!

Sorry for the rants but even with my hard days at work, I'm easily reminded of how fun my days off can be and then I forget all about work :)

I hope everyone had a great weekend! I'm not sure if I'll post tomorrow or not. I made plans with Jenny and Meg to go to Ale House for ladies night but we'll see :)

STAY TUNED!!

UP NEXT:

A spa, tea party, and a Boardwalk....

Glad that you had such a great time with your mom Meghan! I love your story about the jet ski. What a fun time that must have been. I would have been scared half to death, but still sounds like a good time!

I'm glad you enjoyed them!! I'm hoping to get a better spot when I go again. When are you going to the halloween party? I'm going again on Sun Oct 5, maybe we'll see u there!

I love all your pictures from MNSSHP. They are great and the photopass ones are very cute.

I agree about the Pirate and Princess Party fireworks being way better.

HEY DIS!!!!!

I just wanted to drop by and continue my mom's visit TR.

When I left off, we had been sleeping soundly in our beddies at POP.

SATURDAY SEPT 6, 2008

After a fun/long night at MNSSHP, I had grand plans of sleeping in but when you are staying on WDW property, it is set in your head that you do not sleep in, so of course I was up by 9:30.

After another shower and de-princessing my fairytale, we headed down to EP for breakfast...

Here are some pics, sorry they are blurry, it was cold in the room and hot outside!

The waffles are now my personal fav. Did you love the hidden mickey? haha.

After breakfast, mom and I headed to GF for our spa afternoon. Our soothing and tired legs treatment at GF Spa was at 1pm. We walked down the path at GF after we got there and headed inside. The lobby of the building is small but very spa/expensive-ish. We checked in at the desk and were taken to the changing room. Because we were not getting full on massages, we did not do the whole robe deal ( :( ) but we waited until they called us into the pedicure room. My mom and I were able to sit in chairs side by side to get our treatment. I describe it as a more intensive pedicure w/o the painting of the nails. We loved it and I'd go back in a second!!! It was around $45 each and I did not get a CM discount because it is an actual spa. It was worth it though and we had so much fun!!

After the spa we made our way back to GF and went to the Garden View Tea Room!!!

I was under the impression that it would be a little tea sandwich and tea that was mucho expensive..

but I was wrong! lol.

We were given the menus and I chose the Buckingham Palace choice with the Mad Hatter Tea. It seemed like we kept getting course after course. I ended up with the tea, 5 little sandwiches, scone/strawberry tart, and strawberries with cream for dessert....

Overall, LOVED it!!!! We thought at first that we were a little under dressed for it but then as it went on, more and more people starting showing up in jeans and tshirts so at least we were dressed not in jeans and nice tops. I would suggest it to any family that wants some good mother/daughter bonding. My mom said that she was glad that I was old enough to appreciate that but she admitted that would have been something fun for me to do in elementary school. The food was amazing as well as the service. I drank all of my yummy tea which was sweet and so yummy!!

When we got back to POP, I was greeted with this in our window...

100_2225.jpg

We had a new friend!! They looked like ducks or something in a canoe. I love getting towel animals. We typically stay at WL and are very used to the towel animals. I had shelves of them in my room at home.

When we got back to POP we decided to hit up the hippie dippie pool again before heading to dinner at Big River Grille at BW.

100_2263.jpg

We were seated right away inside and the place was dead for 6pm on a Saturday. I guess maybe they get busy as the night goes on? I had ordered the salmon and my mom the chicken. We were served our drinks right away but seemed to wait forever and ever for our meal. Two tables with 2 each sat next to us and when we finally got our food, they did too shortly after and were seated 10/15 mins after us. I went to try my potatoes and they were cold :( The plate was not warm at all...moms was cold as well. I'm guessing they sat for too long instead of in my tummy. After flagging down our waiter, he took the plates away to have them reheated. Now with it being Disney, I was not expecting something in return besides a warm plate but we did not receive a darn thing. Not even really a sorry. We thought perhaps they would offer a free dessert or take some money off the bill, but nothing :( Needless to say we got a very bad vibes and prolly won't return. I felt horrible bc mom was so excited to eat there. I guess you live and learn. In all of my excitement of the food..here are pics prior to us taking the first cold bite :(

100_2266.jpg

100_2267.jpg

After dinner, we walked around the BW and then decided to head to DTD. Well, we figured out quickly why BW was not busy...bc DTD was. It was packed and people were everywhere! 1/2 way through WOD, I began to get very sick and yucky feeling. I'm not sure if it was all the sugar from the tea party or if it was from the dinner/recooked but I was not feeling well at all at DTD. Mom rushed somewhat through the stores and was upset at the fact it was so busy so we rushed through her main stores: WOD, Xmas, Pantry, Art of Dis, Pooh's Corner and then headed for the car to POP. I nearly fell asleep as soon as we got back bc I felt so sick. I was praying that I would not be sick for the rest of the trip....

Coming up...

Will I remain sick for the rest of the trip????

STAY TUNED!!

Love the MNSSHP pictures!!

Also, I enjoyed your review on Ohanas. I hope to eat there next summer.

Great update Meghan! The tea party looks wonderful and the spa, well what a great time with your mom. I hope you felt better soon.

Suz

The GF tea looked so nice and relaxing! I have to check this out now. I've always heard about it, but its one of those things we never get to. Good to hear about your spa experience too. You and your mom had the perfect girls day out. Hopefully that sickness that snuck up on you at DTD didn't stick around too long. :goodvibes

The tea party looks so fun! Something I would love to do when my DD is a little older. What as hame about Big River...DH and I ate there for lunch years ago and it was ok but nothing to run back to. I sure hope you didn't stay sick for the rest of your Mom's visit!

Just wanted to drop by and say that it was great meeting you at the Animal Kingdom the other day. Great update and thanks for the pics from the afternoon tea. I've been thinking about doing that for my birthday in November and after seeing/reading about your experience I think I may just have to book it.

Loving your reports Meg!

Question for you. By any chance would you be able to ask your roommate who works at Guest Relations if I could get in contact with her? I applied for the CP for the Spring, mostly with the intents to go out for a Guest Relations PI after I graduate.

I work as a supervisor in Guest Relations at a theme park now, and I'm thinking about doing that as a career..and I was just curious how WDW's GR is compared to ours!

Thanks and keep on writing, I'm living vicariously through you!

Great update Megan!!! :thumbsup2

I hope you didn't stay sick for too long.

I looks like you had a great time with your mother. Thank you for sharing your adventure with us. :goodvibes

HI DIS!!!!

Sorry I have been MIA recently, I have been very busy with work, after work, and on my days off that I have lost track of my TR.

I will fill all of you in though on the last two days of my mom's visit.

So when I left off, we did not have such a magical time at Big River Grille and I was not feeling so hot :(

I went to bed right away after eating there and prayed that I was able to feel better the next day.

I got up on Sun and was feeling really good and it must have been a bad reaction to the food :( Mom and I had breakfast at EP and then headed outside to catch the van to the DVC location at SSR. We got there and met with the DVC guide/Realtor and were shown some rooms of what the DVCs look like as well as the pricing guide etc. It was really cool to see that especially because one of my KDCs is beside a DVC (in Asia) and I've always wanted to take the tour. Needless to say my parents did not buy into it but it was a pretty good deal...25% off and you got double points for buying into AK DVC.

I'm not sure if they are aware that CR will be a DVC and since their disneymoon was at CR in 1981, perhaps they are waiting to buy into that?! We shall see but the tour was nice and the AK rooms were wonderful!

After that we headed back to POP and spent the afternoon at the Hippie Dippie pool (sorry no pics )

After 4+hours at the pool (including lunch) we got all ready and headed to YC for dinner at Yachtsman Steakhouse.

We got there at 6ish to walk around but noticed it was dead at YS so we asked if we could be seated an hour early and they said yes:cool1: .

Now after hearing the recent podcast on the place, I was a bit nervous about eating there with all that went on but I decided to give it a shot.

Our sever was a female but I can't remember her name at this time. She came to our table right away and got our drink orders..waters and glasses of wine :) Mom had a few ?s about the menu of which she went into such great detail of everything (which never happens I have a feeling?) In the end I ordered the steak and mom the salmon. She came back rather quickly with drinks and bread. Not too soon after that our meals came out. Our server checked back mulitple times and was very helpful. Our meals were AMAZING!! The steak has not made its replacement after Concourse Steakhouse closed. Mom's salmon was also amazing..wayyy better than mine the night before..and hot too I must add. After that we decided on dessert to split and we chose the cheesecake but all looked yummy.

Here are the pics:

Overall thoughts: would go there again in a second. The food was amazing and hot, the service was great, and the atmosphere was really nice :)

I'm pretty sure I saw the server who they mentioned in the podcast and he didn't seem too bright of a crayon if you know what I mean!

After dinner we walked around YC and down to the gateway to look at Epcot from the outside and then headed back and rocked on rocking chairs for a bit before heading back to POP. Back at POP, mom did her last bit of shopping and we used the pool and spent the rest of the night packing and me crying :(

The next morning we got up and headed to the airport. When we got to the airport, we had breakfast at McDs and then mom was on her way through security. Yes, I stood there at security and cried and cried some more there as she went through and until she got on the tram I stood and cried. Thankfully 2 things occured me to: 1..I'm going home in Oct so yay! and 2...I thankfully made plans with Jenny to go to AK that day to keep my mind off of her leaving!:cool1:

So I waved goodbye for the last night and she flew home to Pittsburgh...thus ending my wonderful mother daughter weekend. Even now I can't believe its been 2 weeks since she was here!! I'm also very excited that I'm going home in a month!

Not much is going on at work lately. We got 3 new presenters to make up for losing 3 last month. They all seem nice, not maybe the people I would hang out with but they seem really nice to work with. I'm going to having my mid-review with the manager this week so I will be posting about that by this weekend.

The food and wine cast preview is tomorrow night at Epcot. I have not 100% decided if I want to go or not or just wait. I was under the impression it was all free..ya its not :( Tomorrow is also the new Grey's Anatomy which I will be home at 9 to watch!

Other than that, the last nights of PI are this week. The girls and I are all going on Sat (even though we hafta pay). Erin's mom is also coming for 5 days this weekend so we've decided that since the apple does not fall far from the tree that we would head to a Disney Resort for Sat and Sun to escape our house lol. We're planning on staying at POFQ for Sat and Sun and getting the DDP on Sun (since it will be unblocked starting then) and then using disney buses to and from FQ!!!

Other than that, nothing is really going on. My dinner is now ready so I'm going to go eat but thank you all for reading and stay tuned!!

Up Next:...how will my mid-review turn out?!

Good luck on your review Meghan. I am sure it will all go well!
