I have been going to HHN for the last four years and have been anxiously reading everyone's opinions and reviews so I thought I would post my own.
We went last Wednesday and Thursday and also did the Unmasking the Horror Tour on Thursday(more on that later). Overall, I thought the event was great. Loved the houses and had a great time in the scarezones. My rankings are as follows:

#1 The Wolfman- Amazing house! Great themeing and awesome scares. The Wolfman climbing over the pathway and then jumping out in the last scene provided some great scares. We did this house 5 times!
#2 Dracula- Again, great theming and loved the "floating" bride. The last scene with the feral brides was just amazing. We did this house 5 times!
#3 Frankenstein- The entrance to this house was spectacular and I loved the "steampunk" approach to the characters. Fritz was particularly entertaining.....We did this house 5 times!
#4 Silver Screams- Loved how you went from "theater" to "theater". The scene from the Strangers at the end was great. It truly felt like you were in that movie. We did this house 4 times!
#5 Leave it to Cleaver- Very entertaining and darkly funny. The two children in the early scene were particularly creepy. I'm a pretty big guy and all of the scareactors had a ball telling me how they would love to "sell me by the pound." Fun house....We did this house 4 times!
#6 Chucky- Did not expect much from this house at all and was pleasantly surprised. Loved the tunnel effect in the beginning and the "stuffed animal" monsters later on. Liked it better on Wednesday than Thursday for some reason. We did this house 3 times!
#7 Saw- All about timing. For some reason, we seemed to get to each scene just as it was resetting which really took away from the effect. Watching the scareactors reset the props really took you out of the moment. The wet pig heads were a nice touch, however. We did this house 3 times!
#8 The Spawning- Just didn't really get this one. Felt like I was in a sewer from Land of the Lost. Were those sleestaks or what? Just a pretty generic house. We did this house 3 times!

Scarezones:
#1 Cirque du Freak- I know most people did not like this scarezone but we hung out here for about 30 minutes watching Mr. Tiny engage the crowd. He was hysterical! Plus, I always love all of the jack-o-lanterns in this area.
#2 Horrorwood Drive-In- This one depended on the timing. On Wednesday, there were only a handful of scareactors out but on Thursday there were many more. The Exorcist was great....
#3 Containment- Similar to Cirque du Freak, the soldier on top of the military truck heckling the crowd was great. We hung out here for a while as well and really enjoyed him, plus the fog was amazing.
#4 Lights, Camera, Hacktion- Guys with chainsaws running after screaming girls....what more is there!
#5 Apocalypse- The scareactors in this area were fun and had lots of energy. The Thursday crew was better than Wednesday(granted, the weather was much cooler too)
#6 War of the Living Dead- Fun scarezone, just too short. We were through it in about 60 seconds. Also, alot of the masks didn't fit the scareactors very well and you could see their skin around the eyes and neck. Makeup would have made this much better.

On Thursday, we did the UTH tour. It was my second time after going in 2007. It is well worth the $40 and I recommend it to anyone. Getting to walkthrough the soundstage houses with the lights on and really admire the details and story line is just priceless. We took some amazing pictures and video. Once I have the video edited I will come back and add a link. Oddly enough, some members of my group were afraid that seeing the houses with the lights on would ruin the scares later that night. They actually found it to be the exact opposite....they were more scared after knowing everything??!!!? Hard to explain why.

All in all, we had a great time. On Wednesday, we did every single house after S&S without needing our Express Pass. We then hung out in the scarezones and towards the end of the night did a second round of houses using our passes. By Thursday, our feet hurt so we did the soundstages right after S&S and then used our Express Pass for the rest of the night. Also took a break to see Bill & Ted(liked it better than last year).

Can't wait for the 20th next year!

P.S. The extra scarezone on Wednesday and Thursday was an added bonus. I know some people complained about it being too crowded but it was great to see Jack and the Caretaker lurking around.

What was the surprise on the UTH tour? We didn't get to take it, and I didn't want to ask till the season was over so it wouldn't be spoiled for others. I've really been curious.

They had the actual model of the Universal Palace Theater that was used to design the website. It was very cool! They also had a bunch of design and sketch books for each house that showed the layouts and different characters. I will post some pictures and video as soon as I get a chance.

Oh, HHN is over now I can post some of those pics. I'll get them up late tonight or early tomorrow.

i always very much enjoy other homies' impressions on hhn houses and zones.
thanks for posting !!

You know what though...? You shared nothing..... I did this on my own!!!!! Can't wait for my 14 straight year. Although, Mark and I tried to be there the first year HHN came to exist.. I still have our tickets.....
