MVMCP - Tips, Tricks, Secrets newbies should know...

I'd love to hear opinions about how crowded the 4th will be! My oldest and I are going for a very short trip this year and I really want to attend the party - but the only one we can make is on the 4th. Will it be completely unbearable since it's a Friday? I know Pop Warner starts right around here too, so I'm wondering about that....

See you there - we purchased tickets for the 4th. I have been in the past around this time. We always see the Christmas decorations at Disney the week following Thanksgiving - and the timing is excellent. The Thanksgiving crowds have left - and the Christmas crowds dont start coming until mid December. The only reason this party may be a little more crowded than the 1st or the 3rd is because it is a Friday evening. But, in my experience, it should not be bad at all. You will get to see and ride everything in plenty of time!

Never been to MVMCP and want to be prepared! Where are the cookie and cocoa station(s) located? Is it just one location or are there locations throughout the park?

I believe there are a couple. I know in the past we have always retireved our cookies and cocoa at Columbia harbour house - but I believe there is also a station in Tommorowland.

  • Where and when does it snow?
  • What characters are at which dance parties? Do they rotate the characters in and out?
  • I know we might be a minority, but do adults go w/o children to the parties? I thought it might be a perfect opportunity to get pictures of my favorite characters.
  • Does the bakery sell Christmas themed pastries?
  • Best place for QS dining?

Any opinions or suggestions appreciated.

Absolutely adults go without kids! I do not think you are in the minority at all! DH and I do not have kids and this will be my 3rd party!;)

In Adventureland they have been behind the Dole Whips across from Swiss Family Robinson treehouse and in the Diamond Horseshoe review in Liberty Square.

HolidayWishes have been at 9:30p party nights for the past few years. :thumbsup2
Thanks beattyfamily, I was hoping to catch Wishes at Cali Grill since it is a MVMCP night but I could only get 9:10 ressies. Do you think if we get there earlier, we might get seated and see them after we order drinks or apps.? (We're celebrating our 21st ann). If not we will be at Mickey's party the night before. I just really wanted to see it from the top if the world.:goodvibes

I would think if they aren't running late (fingers crossed) you'd be seated in time but just to be safe, do get there early. Good luck!

Thanks. This is our AK day so we plan to leave around 5, go back to our room at CR, take a break and then freshen up and change for dinner. So getting there early won't be a problem. But fingers will be crossed.:goodvibes

I am sure this has been referenced before, probably even in this thread - but I will just ask again...we are going December 10-16 and are trying to pick a night to go to the Christmas party...do the Pop Warner families attend the party at all? I certainly don't mind the group, I would just rather choose a less popular night to go...anyone know?

By that time, ALL of the parties are likely to be busy. Any one or more of them can sell out.

We are going to our first MVMCP this year! i just read all 33 of these pages and copied and pasted the information on a new thread. I cannot guarantee accuracy or that things aren't closed, or different. Just wanted a simple link with all the info in one spot. Hope it helps other OCD planners like myself!

As much as I would like to read all 34 pages, it ain't gonna happen.

You have just did me, & others I'm sure, a big favor!

Subscribing... and actually, pleasantly surprised to hear the character show is in Tomorrowlan, where we have Wishes Dessert Party reservations - and now don't have to truck across the park and potentially miss out on things. YAY!

Attending our first MVMCP on Nov. 16th! Too excited. We have never experienced the holiday season at WDW:goodvibes

"Don't miss the marching tin soldiers in the parade. IMHO they are worth the price of admission. "

This is why I bought my tickets. I've been on the hunt for recommendations for the best place to see the tin soldiers break ranks to do a razzle-dazzle routine. I'm "shooting for" Main Street at Casey's Corner.

Last year the soldiers were near the end of the parade. We were near Hall of Presidents to see the routine and then followed the end of the parade until the cut off to Crystal Palace and so were able to see the soldiers doing their routine again near Casey's. Casey's is an excellent viewing area (for fireworks also!) Enjoy! If we go again this year it will be strictly for the soldiers in the parade. We can do rides anytime and the show that replaced "Mickey's 'Twas ..." wasn't our cup of tea. The MVMCP fireworks are also really good but we have seen SO MANY fireworks at WDW over the years...

Don't forge the marching reindeer too! They rank right up there with the marching soldiers in my book!

Thanks everyone! Keep the tips coming!

My general plan is to go to MK early that morning (Dec. 10th) get DD's birthday fun card, tour a few hotels then take it easy at the resort until 4ish.

I just can't decide where to eat. It's DD's 4th birthday and I was orginally just thinking cosmic rays, but then I thought about making an ADR at Tony's (if I can get one). Any suggestions? Could we see the parade while dining at tony's?

My first MVMCP and first trip will be this year. We did the party Dec 5 and I did our dinner ADR early (4:55) at Liberty Tree Tavern. It seemed like a Christmsay type of dinner.
