MVMCP - Tips, Tricks, Secrets newbies should know...

Does anyone have information to share about the Dessert Party.. We are attending the Party Nov 19..

Thanks

I read somewhere that WD will not be letting the MVMCP tik holders early entry this year at 4 PM. I called to verify and of course the official opening time is 6:30.

We have a 3 y/o and there is no way he'll be able to stay up till midnight - not that I would want him to really.

So, if we can get in at 4 - sounds good and doable, but, no way for 6:30.

Unfortunately, we are going (if we go) on Nov 8th - the first night!?

Does anyone know for sure if they will let us in early - at 4PM?

There was the same discussion about the MNSSHP. People were reporting that CMs on the phone were telling them they wouldn't be able to enter before 7:00 and other people were saying that this happens every year and every year people are allowed to enter at 4:00, and sure enough, after the first MNSSHP people reported that they were able to enter at 4:00, just like they have every year.

We are planning to go to the party on Tues Nov. 30th. I'm guessing (hoping) that since it's the first party after the T-day weekend madness that crowd levels at the party should be real low?
Also, this is our parents first trip to the World and we have 530pm ressie's to Narcoossee's right before the party ( We will be celebrating our moms bday!). Plan is to be out by 645pm and hop on the monorail to the party. We won't be concerned with the rides (we have another day planned at MK for that) we just want to focus on the fireworks, parade, shows and characters. Do you think we will have to fight for optimal fireworks and parade viewing spots on main street? Any input/advice/strategy is appreciated

Thanks:santa:

Hey guys I have two questions if you can help...

1) Have any of you went the Sunday after Thanksgiving? Crazy?

2)We just became disney visa members and I notice they have discounts on MNSSHP tickets. Does anyone know if they typically give MVMCP discounts and if so when they genrally come out?

thanks

That is when we are going! We will see you there!! I want to know too if it is going to be busy?? The closer I get the more nervous I get.

I can't help you with your second question. Sorry!!

I haven't been before, but I'm planning to see the later parade (after the fireworks) anticipating a smaller crowd, figuring most would see the first parade.

I've never been to Narcoossee's to know if they tend to run on time. But I'd never take a chance with ADR's that close to a party time, even if it's just down the way on the monorail. I've run into delays being seated at too many Disney restaurants.

And FYI....... most people are not there for the rides at the parties. Just like you, most are there for the parade, fireworks, shows and characters. Ultimately your plans will succeed or fail depending on 2 factors: 1) will you be seated at dinner on time? and 2) will it be a busy night at the party? It's impossible to know the answer to either of those ahead of time. Maybe others who have been to the first party after Thanksgiving break can chime in with some input.

The most important part will be to have realistic expectations going in. It is very hard to do it all in one night.

We're going Nov 12...we're going to try to do the whole day! Two of us have AP and DH is using his 10 non expire so it's not really costing us much...my thinking is that the partygoers don't show up until 4 pm and the rest of the world goes somewhere else because MK closes early for them...
Maybe we'll rest up back at the BC mid afternoon....then we have ADR's for the Wave for 5:10 pm, that'll get us back to the park in time for the festivities..
What time does the party go until? the next day is a lounge by the pool day for us - so we shold be ok....

The "experts" list the MK as a park to avoid on party days. But I have always subscribed to the above theory and it has proven accurate most of the time. 3 of the 4 times we have done MK on party days have had very light traffic. I really do think the days BETWEEN parties are the days to avoid the MK (as these are the only days non-party goers can see Wishes and the night parade.

Can't wait to test my theory twice more in December!

Yes...I subscribe to TP and TGM...they list the parks as avoid if they close early for a private event...this is because they base their recommendation on people wanting a full park day and not having hoppers..so I always look into the reason for the avoid. They will also list a park as avoid if it has EMH....but if I have park hopper and am staying onsite, the EMH can work to my advantage.

I hope that they let us in at 4pm as well. We go on the last night and the day before is when we fly in from the UK, so I'm sure that jet-lag will start to hit us at some stage during the evening. At least I have the advantage of seeing when people get let in on prior nights.

I would make a considerably large bet that you will be allowed in at 4pm. Every single year CM's tell callers that they will not be let in before 6:30 or 7..and every year people are let in at 4pm. The halloween party goers were told the same thing this year, and they were let in at 4pm....

Hey guys I have two questions if you can help...

1) Have any of you went the Sunday after Thanksgiving? Crazy?

We have never done MVMCP on that Sunday, but have been in the parks the Sunday after T-day and found them still very crowded. We thought people may have stayed an extra night specifically for MVMCP and then left on Monday as we saw a significant drop off in crowds Monday evening.

I have a Photopass question for the party. When I was there in 2007, I used my regular PP card for all the photos taken that night at the party. Do I now need a special one or can I still use the one I have prepaid for and will be using for the entire vacation?

Thanks!

You CAN get a special FP card, which will allow you to get a 40% discount on prints, but you can also add that to your prepurchased CE. Or you can just use your regular FP card from regular park hours. They all work and can be added to your CD.

Just remember to take a digital picture of the number on each card in case you lose them.

I would LOVE our trip to begin at MVMCP. Here's the scenario. We arrive at MCO at 6:45pm. 3 adults, checked all baggage. Taking ME to Pop. Arrive 8ish? Do not check in and head straight to park (hope this is allowed)- wait for bus and could be 9ish arriving at MK? or maybe taxi (cost?) a little faster? I really don't want to buy my tickets ahead of time unless we can switch unused tix for a different day in case the plane is late. If I could be sure that we would have 3 hours at the party, I would be happy. Can we make it?

That would have been my guess. I think a lot of November guests are disappointed that the party does not take place during Thanksgiving week. I wondered if a lot stayed around just long enough to catch that first party after.

And love the Snow White pics in your signature!

It's about $20 for a taxi from the POP to the Grand Floridian, which is one monorail stop from the MK.

I wouldn't do what you're suggesting though. You'd miss too much of what you paid for. You could taxi straight from MCO, but then would have to deal with the luggage....... I love the party, but don't know if I'd do it for so little payoff........

If you can get an early ADR at LTT that's a great place to start your party. I'm sure it will be a little different for us this year without characters, but it's so festive in there we just love it. Take advantage of entering the park at 4:00. We usually get quite a bit done prior to the party and then we can concentrate on the shows. =QUOTE]

I heard a little rumor that characters might come back to LTT!! Can anyone confirm or deny that might happen?? (fingers crossed):woohoo:
