We plan to go to the party on out first night there and will have the tickets linked to my MDE account. When we enter will the party ticket be the default one that is used off of the account? In other words, it won't take one of our remaining day's tickets, will it?

You likely won't have any problems, but...
to make doubly sure, before you go to MK that day,
go to any Guest Relations and have them set the PRIORITY of your party ticket in your MDE account to the highest priority.

I have a question pertaining to this....If I just use my "hard" ticket for the party to enter the park to make sure it only uses that instead of another full day....will Magic Bands still work once we are inside the park? Or would we have to use the hard party ticket all evening?

If you don't want to wait in the often very long guest services line to prioritize your tickets, just use the actual plastic party ticket when you enter the MK at 4:00.

And, because of the situation which I just answered above (that of the interchangeability of the tickets and MBs)
what you have suggested (while it will work for admission) does not, unfortunately, guarantee that the gates
will deduct the correct ticket, if you have regular park admissions still in your MDE account.
There have been actual reports of the wrong ticket in MDE being deducted even if the guest had just used
the stand-alone party ticket at the MK gates.

I don't think it is worth WORRYING about, but it is worth noting, just in case.
