Planning our November trip (week prior to Thanksgiving). On the day that we do MVMCP we plan to lounge around the resort that day (our boys are young and still nap) and head to MK prior to the start of MVMCP to allow for enough time for haircuts for our boys at Harmony and dinner prior to the start of the Christmas Party. So, my questions...

- What time does MVMCP normally start and how long does it last?
- At what time will be allowed in the park prior to the start of MVMCP? (Is the park closed prior to the time of the Party so that only those with tickets are allowed in?)
- Where & what time should we plan on eating in MK prior to the Party starting?
- What else do I need to know?

Thanks! :)

We went November 2013 and had a great time. The party officially starts at 7 but guests are let in around 4. It is over at midnight. I'm not sure when they stop letting in non party guests but at 7 they begin moving people without wristbands out. There were CMs with signs telling those without bands it was time to go. We were asked several times early in the evening to show our bands.

A few restaurants close early because those are the cookie stations. One was Columbia harbour house. I would probably eat early. We didn't have dinner plans and just decided at 6 to eat at the quick serve in frontier land. ( I forget the name). It was packed with day guests who were eating right before leaving.

Not sure if you can make it till the end but after 10:00 the park really emptied out. We rode a bunch of rides and had a blast!

The party runs from 7-12, but you can enter with your party ticket as early as 4. The park doesn't close before the party starts. I would definitely plan on eating before 7, because the party costs a lot of money to be spending part of it eating, and restaurants that are open during the party are going to be busy.

This is from a couple years ago, but it should still give you a good idea of what to expect at the party:

Our youngest is 2, so we will be lucky to make it to 9:00/10:00. ;)

So would you recommend eating elsewhere before coming to MK for the Party?

Perfect! Thanks for the link!!

I would, yes. Getting something at the food court at your resort would be the easiest.

I would probably get to MK before 4, get the haircuts, and then do a quick serve. If you want to eat before and get to the park at 4 to get the most of the ticket, you would have to eat pretty early and everyone may be hungry again before you're done for the night anyway.

Side note, noticed your screen name. Are you from WV? We are!

Yes - Weston (30 min South of Clarksburg)! Where are you located? Small world! :thumbsup2

When we did MVMCP a couple years ago, we planned a late lunch (2:30 ish) at the DTD. Then back to the resort and MK at 4. There is so much to do. Don't waste time sitting around eating. :)

FWIW you will be eating a lot of cookies, unless you dont like them. They are really good and the hot cocoa is awesome too. We had reservations at CRP at 6pm and that was kind of a waste of both CRP and MVMCP. Next time I will eat a late lunch at maybe 3 and then go to MK, do some simple stuff like TS Island, then start eating cookies at 7. Of course there is a ton of other stuff to do, but I am just talking food.

We entered the park at 4pm and went to a counter service place some time between 5-6p. I wouldn't eat too early or you'll be hungry again during the party and no one wants to spend their party time stopping to eat. :thumbsup2

I just wanted to say that I"m following this thread because we are going the same week and I had similar questions! It will be DH, DS7.5, DD4.5 and me, so I'm trying to get a sense of the timing to see if it's worth it, especially for DD. My kids are usually in bed by 8:30!

On the other hand, if the MVMCPs are same nights as they were last year, we're probably going in the beginning of our week, so I'm assuming the kids will be pretty excited and last at least a few hours. I'd also think that earlier in the week is less crowded than the Thur and Fri night parties.

The November calendar is already out. You can look at the days MK closes at 7 and that is most likely at party night.
