MVMCP - My Very Merry Chistmas Pre-Trip Report

Great first day plans! Ours are very similar, only we have lunch at Sci Fi Cafe. Couldn't get Mama Melrose. Oh well. Next time. We are thinking about heading to DTD or MK after Fantasmic. I guess it depends on how tired we are. We have a 645 am flight that morning, thanfully the airport is only like 45 minutes away at the MOST! I agree with a PP about the Toy Story FP, TSM is a great ride, but not worth the super long wait. We did it one year at EMH so it wasn't too bad. We waited til like a half hour before park closing to ride it. Worked out great.

I thought of doing something after Fantasmic, but figure everyone is going to be pretty beat from waking up early to travel. The nice thing about HS is most of the stuff we are doing are shows so it isn't something that will tire us out too much. We do want to enjoy the resort a bit while we are there. Definitely will be walking around taking alot of pictures.

We went in 2007 and I took over 400 pictures and had about 90 pictures on our Photopass. I plan on abusing Photopass again this time. Everytime I see one of those guys I will be getting our pictures taken, and will probably take more pictures than I did the last time since we have more days.

Oh abusing the photopass guy is TOTALLY on my list of plans! I preordered the photopass CD and photopass book. I had the books made one year and they were a big hit with my friends. I think after a while there will be a Memo going through all the parks with my photo saying watching out she is a photopass stalker and WILL stop you for pictures! By gum I am getting my monies worth outta that thing if it kills me! I just wish we could put all the ride photos on the photopass CD. I always end up buying one on each ride because I love them so much. I pull them out years later and we have a laugh at them. We have one with our friends 6 year old with her hands up on Splash Mountain because I put my hands up on it lol. She looks horrified.

I DEF wanna hit most of the shows at DHS. My friend is going to love the Beauty and the Beast show I think, and she will probably love Muppet Vision too. But after Fantasmic (where I will use my wonderful snack credits for a popcorn and soda....gotta love tradition)...we will figure out what we wanna do from there. I am so excited though! I need a break so badly! I have spent most of November sick with the flu and now a head cold:sad2:

Got some mail from Disney Destinations. Thought I finally got the ME stuff. Nope, no ME stuff, I did get my PhotoPass though. So that's something I guess.
Has anyone else gotten a PhotoPass in advance. Seems like an odd thing since you get them from the photographers anyway.

Yes, they sent me a photopass for each of our package reservations. I also got one for each of rooms at the contemporary because they sent them before I canceled our reservations there. I think its so people will get on and pre order the cd?

Thanks for the info. I have already pre-ordered the cd since I plan on getting their photogs to take my picture every time I see them. Like Woth, they may send out an alert to the photographers to close up shop when they see me and my family coming.

I finally got around to calling Disney about the ME stuff.

I know, I've been talking about it for a while now, you should have learned your lesson with the shirts by now. I'm thinking they won't be done for the trip.:lmao:

So anyway, I called Disney, and they told me I would have to call ME directly and gave me the number. No problem. I call and get put on hold for a little while. Sure wish they had the great Disney Music playing while on hold I get someone on the line and explain what's going on. The guy was real nice, even though he was a bit confused when he saw three reservations under my name for two different resorts. I don't know what happened when I called Disney a while back to give them the flight info, but apparently it wasn't on my account since the guy was asking which airline and what the flight numbers were. He added the info, and said I should get the information soon, so that is one less thing I have to worry about.

This trip is coming up so fast. I remember when I made the countdown Calendar and was looking at it in September thinking, wow, look how long we still have, and now November is almost over. I still have to work out the daily schedules for Epcot and MK.

my ME stuff was messed up they sent me the tags for the second reservation not the first one which is our arrival day. Check the date on your tags when they come

I also got a PP card in the mail- we haven't pre-ordered either, guess it is something they are doing now to promote it. We don't plan to really use it, i mean if we get a great shot, i might buy it, but DH hates having his pic taken. lol! We hope to capture a few good shots for our christmas card too and will have them printed when we get home at walmart or something.

your plans look great so far! i agree- i would get the TSM FP first at HS if you can- i know some days they are all gone by 11am? RnR won't run out like TSM will.

oh and on getting to the airport early- we are doing the same thing- we have a 6:20am flight, the car service is picking us up at 4am. we only live 20 minutes away and will be dropped off at the gate and hopefully there won't be much in the way of crowds that early on a saturday. i've been very lucky my last few flights for business (in Oct)- both had very short security lines and moved fast. I haven't tried the new scanners though- i think they have them at DFW now.

Your plans sound great so far! :) The same thing happened to us with our ME. I called and they asked for all of our flight information again even though I'd already called and given it to them once. Here's hoping we get our ME stuff in the mail soon! :goodvibes

It shouldn't be messed up. I heard him correct himself before I could when he was saying what he was doing. I heard AKL to ME, then he said, no wait, that's not right, it's ME to AKL on the 11th. Thanks for putting that nugget of worry in my head though, I thought I got rid of one of my worries.:lmao:

My plan is to get a picture from every PP person I see, so I should get my moneys worth out of the cd. In 2007 I had about 90 pictures taken by them, and I took over 400 myself, and that was only on a 6 day pass, this trip I have an 8 day pass so there should be many more. I like the PP anyway so I am actually in some pictures since I am usually behind the camera.
We live about 45 minutes from the airport. We will park our car at one of the places near the airport that shuttle you to and from the terminals. Parking is rediculously expensive at the airport.
Thanks for the advice with the TPM. Maybe I will go get the FP for that first thing and just reverse my plans.

Hopefully I have it by this weekend. I want to start packing. It's cold here so I don't need the shorts right now. I'm hoping for a big snow the day after we leave.:rotfl2:

I can't believe I forgot. Today Fantasia goes on sale. I have never seen the whole thing. My wife and kids haven't either, so I will be heading out at lunch to get a copy and we will watch it tonight.
This weekend we will be seeing Tangled, and a little over a week later the kids will be meeting the characters and getting their autograph.

To this day-- I have yet to sit through ALL Of Fantasia.

(will you be seeing Fantasmic???)

Yes, Fantasmic will be seen our first night there at 6:30. Someone mentioned they added a second show, but I already have the Fantasmic Dining Package, so no point in changing those plans. I can use that time to go see the Osbourne lights.

So I bought and watched Fantasia last night. I am seriously thinking Walt did drugs. It's almost as though he set this movie up so you take a hit at the beginning, and when it takes effect you are watching all the funky colors and stuff happening onscreen. This would also explain the whole pink elephants on parade thing in Dumbo.

The move was a combo pack that also included Fantasia 2000, is that one as weird as the original?

I've always thought that about Fantasia! (and Mary Poppins- a spoonful of what? and Wizard of Oz). I haven't seen 2000, I'll wait for your review before renting it and lighting up! :lmao:

When DS was about 4 y.o. he was obsessed with Fantasia and would watch it all the time. I have never seen the whole thing either. Does it make a difference if you like classical music??

We will probably watch 2000 Friday night, I will let everyone know if it is any good.

I think you need to have an appreciation for classical music to enjoy Fantasia since there isn't any dialog other than some guy in a penguin outfit (tuxedo) telling you what the upcoming story is about.

I'm a bit behind, and was reading how you were going to buy Fantasia, and I was going to tell you NOT to. LOL! I see you did though. I have it on VHS, and it is awful in my opinion. I did read in a book about Walt why he made it though. It was with a great composer or something liek that and he wanted it all about the music and he was really particular on how things were done in it. I think some scenes didn;t make it to the origional because it was running so long, so maybe 2000 has the deleted scenes?

Fantasia....Alice In Wonderland.....even those black and white cartoons were a little on the iffy side. I liked fantasia but I had to be in the "mood" to watch it. It was never one of my favorites. I also dislike Alice in Wonderland now that I think about it. Last time I was watching it with the kid I was babysitting for and fell asleep.....thankfully the three year old I was watching saw me fall asleep and got me a pillow and put a blanket over me. Starting to wonder who was watching who here. I did wake up when it was over and the tape made that horrid beepy whiney noise thing. No damage was done, the three year old just hung out til I woke up. He did rat me out to his parents though, but they were cool and thought it was funny. I guess their dad has been known to do the same thing lol.

There is rampant drug use in Alice in Wonderland, but since Walt didn't write that I can't really hold it against him.

I was able to do online checking for my AKL Ressies this morning, I will be able to do the Poly this weekend. Hard to believe next Saturday I will be in Disney. Checked the 10 day on weather.com and they are calling for 79 degrees next Saturday. That is going to feel quite warm compared to the weather here in PA.
