Must fill sandwich size zip lock with 100 items!

I'm not a big fan of the family project either, but it makes me really sad that there are parents out there unwilling to count to 100 with their child.

The 100 project is about the easiest thing ever. Pick something you have 100 of (cheerios, paper clips, whatever) count to 100 and put them in a baggie.

To me, that isn't a "project" it's simply homework.

So wile watching the "move it shake it" parade at the Magic Kingdom, when it was over these 2inch Mickey heads shot out of a tube all around the circle in front of the castle and my DD decided to take those as her 100 items. I think we got way more than needed. Thanks again.

Glad you were able to come up with a fun idea:thumbsup2

Family project or not, I'd let your daughter be "project manager". Let her choose the items within reason. By letting her manage the project her choices will help stretch her imagination, help her master counting to100, as well as develop her critical thinking skills by figuring out if 100 of her selected items will fit in the bag.

I wouldn't send the message that her own choices aren't special if they're not Disney oriented. Plus adding the parameter that the items come from the Disney trip actually could stifle her own unique thoughts on the project.

This project really is about developing your daughter's skills. I feel pretty confident in assuming you already know how to count to 100.

I made it an easy project. I got about three paper measurement "yardsticks" from Ikea.. and cut up the inches... 100 inches

I asked my cousin about this who has older kids. I didn't know it was around so long.
I thought she had a really smart idea that made the child the manager plus required word identification.
My niece picked a word she liked. She went through all the old newspapers, magazines and flyers and cut them out.
At the end they were a few words short so they printed them on the computer and my niece picked the font, color, etc.

Oh please...like posted before, my kid could have the best idea EVAH for a school project, if it is too complicated, going to take too much time, cost too much money etc, than yeah I will be stifling their unique thoughts:lmao:. For example, DS10 did a project on Jim Henson. It was his second choice after some prompting from mom. Why bc unfortunately his first choice Neil Armstrong did not meet the parameters of the project. He did a fabulous job and actually loved learning more about Jim Henson bc his words "the Muppets are at Disney"

So 100 day has come and gone it is was not hyped up at her school at all. They showed their bags of 100 and moved on. No talking about the stuff in the bags or sharing. Many kids brought stickers to share, but weren't allowed since some kids brought food items and they didn't want those bags opened. So no sharing at all.
Life goes on!
