ok - not so much "must-do's" as "will do" for myself & my family...

1. Enjoy the fact that I am with the people I love most at WDW - my husband & kids

2. Laugh & have fun in whatever line we are waiting in - be it FastPass or stand-by. ::yes::

3. Sing whatever our song-of-the-moment (2 years ago it was an Adele song...might be a Frozen song this year!) is while riding the People Mover late at night! Yeah...we are kind of silly.;)

4. Take time to talk to CM's and other guests.:chat:

5. Be thankful that we are able to visit such a magical place. pixiedust:

Wishing you all the most magical of times on your next trip to WDW!:goodvibes

Stacey is that you? :)

First thing that came to my mind, enjoy your trip.

No, not Stacey! But she sounds like someone I would like!;)

Just thought it might be nice for folks to read something positive among all of the doom & gloom and negative posts that have popped up this morning.

Probably won't be as popular as the more controversial threads but that's ok.:)

Your must do's are similar to mine. :-) Knowing that we are in the happiest most magical place all together is a wonderful & elated feeling. My kids & husband love Disney as much as I do, and the bonding time together is priceless!
We enjoy trying new things each trip. Even the smallest of things, like trying a new counter service or a new food item are so much fun. Our trip is in 2 weeks & we are sooo ecstatic!
Also, we take road trips to get to DW & we look forward to the drive, as that is bonding time as well.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE your post!!!!!!!

Yay! Thanks!:)

Thanks! And this was certainly by no means meant to discount those who are feeling stressed and frustrated with their planning and/or vacation. It's just the really negative, disrespectful, & offensive posts seem to be popping up quite a bit lately - just trying for a little balance.

Yes! Sometimes it's the "small things" - that feeling of walking down Main Street when you first get to MK, a surprise interaction with a character, watching the antics of the gorillas at AK - that we remember more than if we were able to get a FP for 7DMT.

And though a road trip to WDW is a little far for us, we have enjoyed many a road trip to Disneyland! Sometimes I think the patience the kids learned from the long drive to DL made standing in line seem not so bad!;)

Which Adele song was it? I need a pic in my head here. Lol!

Great post. Way to keep it positive. I am looking forward to so much. First being just blowing my kids mind that we are even going to WDW. My DH and I are heavy planners (um aren't we all here.) So even though lots of planning going on they don't know it. So it will feel very spontaneous to them and can't wait for it. Also, it will explain to my teenager what mom keeps doing on her computer so much. I also do Swagbucks so that is my cover. LOL.

It was "Someone Like You" - and believe me, not a single one of us even comes close to having Adele's voice! It was our first night there and we were very tired from getting up at 3am (pacific time) to catch our flight but still soooo excited to finally be there! Luckily, there weren't too many other people on the ride...it might not have been the most "magical" experience for them! :lmao:

It's funny because I didn't stress at all over making our ADR's. But when I started reading here on the DISboards about a lot of the issues people were having with FP+, I felt myself getting a little, uhhh...tense! But with all of the great info I've read on MesaBoys thread and others tips & experiences, I feel like I've got a good plan and if I don't get everything - oh well! Some of our best times have been while standing in line.:thumbsup2

I like your style but I'll only add that you can be like that anywhere. I hope that we run into you someday during our travels. :)

THIS.IS. SO. THE. RIGHT.ATTITUDE.TO.HAVE.!!!

That is my hubby and I wrapped up in a ball with a cherry on top :yay:

We're going for 2 glorious weeks to celebrate our 30th anniversary and here are the things that will make this the best time of our lives:

1) We're actually able to celebrate 30 wonderful years together as best friends.

2) It won't be snowing (i hope not :lmao:)

3) We get to sleep in a king-sized bed --nothing spells a vacation like NOT getting kicked in the kidneys every night

4) We get to ride on Toy Story because of FP+ -- alarm clocks and holidays do NOT belong in the same room so we never make rope drop

5) NARCCOSSEE'S need i say more??

6) Tom Sawyer's Island .. this is for my 52 year old hubby who has never had the joy of riding on the raft and then exploring the hidden treasure, i just wish we could still get ice-cold lemonade there!

7) I will get to see Wishes, again due to FP+. Unless it rains of course :rolleyes1

Anything else we experience will make us extremely hard to be around since we will just be exuding nauseating joy

This is what a family vacation is all about! Great post and I welcome your positive attitude.

I agree 100%! A good attitude and a sense of humor can go a looong way. Would love to run in to you too! If you are ever on a ride and hear a family singing in the key of Z minor, you'll know you've found me! :rotfl2:

Happy 30th Anniversary! How wonderful to celebrate at WDW! My husband and I celebrated our 20th there 2 years ago (with the kids of course!) and he even got down on one knee at CRT and asked me to marry him "again"!! He even presented me with a sparkly little somethin' ;) while Princess Aurora looked on and the ladies at the table next to us had tears in their eyes!

YES to king size beds, no alarm clocks, and fine dining!!:thumbsup2

Our family loves Tom Sawyer Island too - such a great place to take a moment and breathe. ::yes::

btw, Donald is my hero too - that's my husbands name!;)

This is what a family vacation is all about! Great post and I welcome your positive attitude.

Thank you so much for posting this. This is exactly how hubby and I feel. The best part of Disney to is just the atmosphere. We really enjoy just being in the Disney bubble. It's not about fast passes and ADR's. Even though we make them, it's also about us being together. We have to walk through the magic kingdom holding hands and go on a date night to downtown Disney.

We love being in the Disney "bubble" too -whether it's here on the west coast at Disneyland & California Adventure or at WDW. :)

I am trying to have this same attitude - thanks for the reminder!! I am hyper-organized and wanting this to be the perfect trip ever, but I need to remember that it will be perfect because the family will be together and at Disney!

We're going to be the crazy singers, too!!

Because there is so much more planning involved with a WDW vacation now, it's very easy to find ourselves getting stressed because we didn't get a certain FP+ or an ADR at a time that works with our touring plans. And of course the younger your children are, the more pressure there is to get that all important meet & greet or character meal at a time that works for your families schedule.

But really, the most important thing is what you mentioned, that you're there at Disney with your family. There will be magical moments even if you don't get to do every single thing you have planned, and you will be making memories to last a lifetime.:goodvibes

And hurray for crazy singers! Maybe we will run into you on the People Mover one day!!:rotfl:
