Here's a link to the NY Times article:

Or, something even more depressing:
http://www.siteforrent.com

Rent will be the seventh-longest running Broadway show in history.

Rent premiered on Broadway on April 29th, 1996. Rent took its composer Jonathan Larson over seven years to create.

I seriously can't come up with a response that will appropriately show how upset I am right now... because Rent is more than just a musical, you know?

Tickets are already sold out for the final show, I think there are a few left for the June 1st matinee.

I know we have a lot of rentheads on here, so I thought you'd all like to know.

That sucks. I have to see it on Broadway now. =[
EDIT: Dang. I can't find any non-expensive tickets -.- My friends and family all don't like RENT so I doubt I'm going to see it on Broadway before it ends.. =/

:guilty: Hopefully in 10 years or so a kick but revival will rock the Broadway world.

I am sooo depressed by this news. Seriously, when I read it yesterday, I literally screamed "NO!" and my friends rushed into my dorm to see if I was ok... lol

My friends and I are trying to get tickets sometime before June, and we will take a roadtrip to NYC to see it. :) I've seen it twice already, and aboslutely lovvveee it. Soooo sad to see it go, but it has had a great run!

My mom told me this morning on the way to school. :sad2: I was shocked for a second...but sadly, it's time had come. I read a review on BroadwayWorld where someone had just seen the show, and the theater was empty. And the cast was flat and basically just going through the steps. But I agree with Princess_Dot, hopefully there will be a revival someday, just to bring the Rent spirit alive again. Anyway. Very sad news. But wow, has it had a great run. My dad says he'll try to get me tickets to the June 1st matinee. I sure hope so!

That is so upsetting! I never got a chance to see it on Broadway.

If I wasn't depressed as it was with:
exams
fighting with my best friend
other things

They just HAD to add:
RENT IS CLOSING!!!

But, as you can see from my signature, I'm seeing the touring company on Saturday! Poor, poor us RENT-heads. May the spirit of Bohemia NEVER die! VIVA LA VIE BOHEME!

Also, may Jonathon Larson rest in peace, knowing his show was such a HUGE success, and made it to the 7th longest-running show on Broadway.

Ahhhhhhhhhh. :(
The second site made me cry.

The second site was so sad.
My chorus teacher actually told us this today and we're going to try to get tickets to a show. So hopefully that works out...and if not I'm deffiantly going with friends.

Oh my goodness, I seriously don't know what to say! I am so upset, I think I may cry. Is it going off braodway? My friend and Iwere supposed to go see it this summer!!!!!:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :sad1: :sad1: :sad1: :sad1: :sad2: :sad2: :sad2: :sad2:
