Music: What are you listening to??

If you can access the NYTIMES they did a full obit and several articles on his career and its effect on musical output.
There was a procession though Dublin today.
1000s showed up, its great to see him getting the respect he deservers.
There was a time (much like Sinead O'Conner who probably saved his life years ago) where he was sort of looked down upon, especially in trad music circles.

Here is one video that was not too bad - the crowd sings dirty old town at the end.

There is also video of the crowds singing Fairytail of New York

Sad times, but great to see.

My genes have passed on to my dd and she has a love for concerts. She has been to 6 in the past year. Her absolute favorite right now is The 1975.

I took her and her friend to Columbus to see them in November. I will admit I went in skeptical, but I knew 2 of their songs really well (I'm In Love With You, and Chocolate) and liked them. The concert was really good. All 3 of us had a great time.

Fast forward to Christmas. She didn't have a big list and by the time her grandparents and aunt got their lists, I had nothing but shelves for her room (whoopee :rolleyes2). So I looked and checked to see where The 1975 was playing for the rest of their US tour. At first, nothing matched our schedules as she isn't missing school. And then you have to factor in her sports (indoor soccer, archery) and it looked impossible. UNTIL ... I discovered archery was starting a week later than I anticipated. Their last US concert was December 2nd in Seattle. Hmmm...:scratchin could I pull this off? Tickets were cheaper than Columbus and good seats! Hotel walking distance to arena and at a good rate ... oh this could definitely be possible. Last but not least, flights (remember I have benefits with airline) were W I D E O P E N (100+ seats Friday night, and 60 seats Sunday morning both direct!) SCORE!! Asked her, do you want this for your Christmas present. A huge YES, and we had a great trip! Space Needle, Pike's Place, vintage record store, sushi, and The 1975.

Now I am as crazy as she is about this band. They have a wide demographic because their sound has a lot of 80's feel to it. :thumbsup2::yes:: I am finding myself playing them every time I'm in the car.

I love it when my kids introduce me to new bands that I probably would have by passed otherwise. :)

Have fun at your next concert!

Thank you! :goodvibes She definitely converted me.

Right now, the only one we know of for sure is Niall Horan in June. But I wouldn't be shocked if we find something sooner. ;)

LOL, I keep trying!

Selfishly, that trip was for me too. I am trying to get all of these excursions and memories in before she is off to college and I am a background player in her life.
