DF and I can't make up our minds yet about if we want the live string trio at the WP, or if we just want to use our own music, on like a cd or ipod. The past 4 weddings I've been to all used their own music on a cd player and it sounded just awful (not DFTW weddings), so my biggest fear right now is that if we use our own music it will sound like crap. So my question is, if you used your own music at the WP, how did it sound? If you got a chance to do it over, would you rather have picked someone live instead? TIA!

The WP includes the organist, you can choose whatever song you want and ask if the organist can play it then you wouldn't have to worry about getting that "house party music" sound (I totally understand not wanting that). They are really accommodating :)

My husband wanted the Star Wars theme played as he walked down the aisle at the WP and it actually sounded good. Because it was on the organ it didn't sound exact but very similar.

I can't stand organs :sad2: so we're going with a CD/Ipod. I'm hoping to be able to play with it at the rehearsal to work out volume etc.

We used the organist and there was a violinist too, I thought it sounded great. I'm not sure if the violinist is usually there, I actually didn't even realize until I saw pictures from a guest. They can also make the organ sound more like a piano and less like an organ.

Let us know how it sounds, Bec. I hope it sounds good enough to understand the words and not be scratchy or fuzzy.

I have way to many songs for the organist to learn . . . :rotfl:

I have heard the WP organ and it doesn't sound bad at all.
That said, we somehow managed to fit the string quartet into our budget, so now we are having that, plus the organ at the WP. :cool1:
They are also going to play every single one of our requests without a problem, so we are very excited!:thumbsup2

I'm not a fan of the organ either. :/ I got that sample CD in of the organ, and, well........yeah. No organ for us. Or at least, no organ sounds, maybe if we get the string trio then I will have them play the organ with piano sounds....

Ive been told that the organ has a setting that it can be made to sound like a piano. When we go for our Planning Session I am going to listen to it as a piano sounding one and make my decision based on that. My first choice would be a string trio or quartet and a piano but for budgeting purposes that may not be an option. Has anyone had it sound like a piano before? How was it?
