Okay... I'll be the first to disagree. My DH will be wearing them thoughout our trip. He is a very well groomed man and he would never wear something that he didn't think looked good on. It's way to hot not to be comfortable- you just need to be clean about it!

Psst...Don't tell anyone. My BIL is pooh sized and will be wearing them. He agrees about the hair thing and therefore... regularly shaves his pitts!!

I know I will be attacked for this but that statement is offensive on so many levels. Really the difference in body temperature by the addition of about three inches of cloth is probably not even measurable. In the meantime, I do not want to see your pits (hairless or not) and I do not think one is just incredibly manly because a muscle shirt is involved.

Also there is the often discussed factor of class. Go to a nice sit down dinner and look like you just came from watching a wrestling match. No, not appropriate regardless of the outside temperature.

Not that I should be defending myself to you, but my husband and I do extremely well. Our attire is a personal choice that isn't based on or purchased at class specific clothing stores. Nor did we get where we are because we cared what everyone else thought.

I'm sure tinkergirl's well groomed DH would not be an issue for me. Ill groomed people in a restaurant while I'm eating or standing in close proximity at an attraction is just ........ yuck, regardless of their attire.

I do have a thought though. Skin on skin makes me hotter. I would think you'd be cooler with a nice light colored lightweight shortsleeve shirt than a muscle shirt. Just my opinion.

I myself think that if we are going to talk about what others should wear then we should tell disney to set a dress code. No shorts above the knee, no black socks with shoes and shorts, hair parted on the side for men, and every 50 feet a grooming station so everyone can shave, brush their teeth, gargle, and reapply deodorant.

This is one of those personal choice issues that everyone will just have to agree to disagree on.

Most of the SIGNATURE dining restaurants prefer male guests to wear at least a collared shirt (golf shirt or better). The rest of the restaurants will accept a t-shirt and in most cases a "muscle" shirt.

Since I'm not blessed with "muscles" .. I've never even considered such a choice.

I agree with one of the previous posters...if it's a sleevess shirt with the pitt thing going on, that's fine...my hubby looks like Chewbaca LOL!!!!!

I think it's guys who wear them very oversized and the armholes are so big that you can see their man ****age that kinda grosses me out.

I say, if you dig em, wear em! I promise I won't point you out and stare !!!

ETA: Sorry I didn't exactly answer your question. Truthfully, I don't pay attention to what people at other tables are doing, wearing, eating. I think it would be fine for most restaurants at Dis. You may want to rethink it at some of the nicer resort restaurants though. HTH!!!

I can relate. The only reason my DH would wear one of those in our house would be to cause me to have an asthma attack from laughing so hard.

I told him about this thread this morning. Keep in mind, we live in Texas so we know all about intense heat. He said, "I think I wore those shirts to play in when I was really young. I mean, REALLY young.....before armpit hair."

I make my own. One was from a yellow Walt Disney World short sleeved sweatshirt (oxymoron?) from the 1970's and with a big D Disney symbol on the front.

I wore tank tops with huge arm and neck openings until one evening when I got back to All Star Sports and saw the outline burned into my flesh. I'm not particularly hirsute so maybe that's why I got burned so badly. Nowadays at WDW it is usually a full t shirt at least. Once in a while, a muscle shirt.

"Dress for Success" by John Molloy (at least the first edition) says that short sleeved shirts for men are a no-no. Is that because of arm hair?

Just because one does "extremely well" does not a model citizen make! Most people are taught at a young age what is appropriate and what is not. For example, you wouldn't walk into the mall naked would you? You wouldn't wear a bikini to church would you? Why not? It would be your personal choice to do so, wouldn't it?

Some things are just not appropriate in some places. There are other places that they fit fine or are not offensive...Muscle Shirts in McDonald's comes to mind. A nice restaurant...not so much.

I think it depends on the restaurant. Buisiness casual (or higher) wouldn't allow it but casual would.

You are absolutely correct but there is no yes or no answer to that. Most of the responses have been no and it is important to say why, not just say no and then walk away. I assume the OP wanted an honest answer to the question and, I believe they have received that, sadly it wasn't necessarily the answer that was hoped for.

The question was is it OK to wear Muscle shirts in restaurants with the dining plan. Restaurant would indicate a sit down meal. That is not the parks or casual dining places. The answer is still the same...no! That doesn't mean that they still won't be worn there but since they asked I assumed it had come up for question for some reason and that was, at least, my answer. Since I am not the fashion police they should feel free to do whatever but they did ask.
