Has anyone done this at the Grosvenor Resort?

Can you tell me what they have on the buffet and what the show was like?

Did you enjoy it?

Thanks!

We did it in May 1999, but it wasn't a buffet, it was pre-plated chicken or roast beef. The food was actually very good. :D
We loved the show!! Be prepared to be pulled into the action, that's what makes it so funny. You might not like it if you're shy.

Thanks 2disneywego. Actually DBF is a ham, and I'll participate if nudged, so this might be fun!

Thanks again!

I went about 2 years ago and it was a buffet at that time. They had salad ingredients plus different premade salads like pasta, sea food, and the like. There were carved meats - prime rib I believe. Chicken, some kind of seafood, something like lasagna, and some side dishes like potatoes, veggies, and the like. I think they might also have had appetizers like cheese and crackers and pickles but am not positive. My SO and I didn't find this show or the food to be anything spectacular. At the end they make everyone get up and move around the room to stand where you think the killer is, out of the group that is correct they pick one person to win a prize. I think it was a set of handcuffs or something like that. We prefer the Sleuth's Mystery Dinner Show. It is a further drive (near Universal) but we have been there a couple of times and think the show is much more humorous and entertaining. They have pre-plated meals there which you can choose from.

Thanks Disney845, we'll have to look into Sleuths. We'll have a car and we don't mind driving around.

Is this better than the Pirates or Arabian Nights shows that I am considering?

Thanks :)

I have seen just about every dinner show in that area including:
Sleuth's
Arabian Knights
Medieval Times
Pirates Dinner Adventure
Murderwatch

and a few others I can not think of off the top of my head. Sleuth's is the only one we were drawn back to more than once. If you are interested in a MUCH larger crowd and more of an adventure show setting than I would go for Medieval Times. Pirate's is ok but I really didn't have that great a time at Arabian Knights, I would not recomend it, but if you a big fan of horses or something....

Sleuth's is much more intimate, and you sit around tables with other groups if your group isn't large enough to have your own. This can be a great way to strike up conversations with others at your table. Each table gets to ask one question during the Q/A session and you pick a spokes person to represent the table. The shows are full of pop culture parody references. One of my favorites was the Angelina Island skit (not sure of the exact name) but it is about people trying to sell an island. The shows always very slightly as they are often improved to play up the audience while following a lose script.

MT, Pirate's and AK are all much larger productions. You sit in this huge stadium like arena and have a long table in front of you which you eat off of. When you arrive you are given a color and everyone in that color section roots for a particular color Knight/Pirate.

All of these shows offer photo opts, which is just a way to make more money off of you! Although I am slightly ashamed to say we have bought the pictures at each one we have gone to! It is kinda nice to have the momento. Just from a picture setting view point Pirate's offers the most themeatic background in my opinion.

Keep in mind that these shows can be very pricy, but there are always coupons to be found, or you can buy them discount at ticket vendors. Never pay full price for the shows. You can always get at least $5-10 perhaps even more off the ticket price. Also look for drink coupons. With your meal at AK, Pirate's, and MT you can either have soda, or beer or Sangria I think. I believe you are also offered coffee with dessert (at least at Sleuth's you are). I know that at AK they have a bar in the lobby (you will have a lengthy wait from the time they ask you to get there before the actual show starts and the lobbys get packed wall to wall) I have seen 2 for 1 drink coupons or free non-alcoholic beverage coupons for AK.

Hope some of this info helps! Have a great time!

Do you think my 2 teenagers would enjoy Sleuths? They are 14 and 17. My problem is keeping them entertained in the evening. I am always looking for somewhere different to take them. They both enjoyed the Comedy Club and the Adventurers club in Pleasure Island.

Thanks, that was great info!

P.S. I used to live in Indy too :)

Briggsy-

Sorry I never responded to your message. I let on Sept. 16 to come to FL and I have been here ever since. I have not had a lot of time to check the computer. I started my Disney trip report while I was on the Beach in Miami Beach, but didn't get past the second day....oh well when I get home I will have time. I do not know your kids personally, but my SO and I are in our very early 20s and we enjoy them very much. I used to live in FL before moving to Indy 6 months ago, so I remember going places like MT when I was a teenager. I had a great time when I went with friends. I don't remember going with my family at any point in my teenage years though. You know your teens. If they like the Adventurers Club then I think they might like Sleuth's. As I said they relate their skits to pop culture events of the time and all the shows I have seen have been funny.

The age group you are dealing with can be hard to entertain (from my own experience). They are too young to go to clubs but too old for childish activities. If you are looking for evening activities I would suggest Cirque if you have not seen it yet. I love it. Disneyquest would also be fun for them I would think. You can stay there all night. If anyone interesting is coming to the House of Blues while you are there you might want to catch a concert. International Drive is full of nightlife places to go. Some of them you should watch out for however as they are very much tourist trap places (Masters of Magic for example was rather expensive and not too great). I love miniature golf, and always like to try out the different Pirate's Adventure golf places and other such things. You might want to go to Old Town on 192. They have some rides and a small haunted house plus lots of stores. Some nights they have old car shows, and I have seen some magic acts and other street performers. Church Street in Downtown Orlando used to be a rather big drawing night life attraction, but I think it has gone downhill in the past few years and the last times I was there it was nothing more interesting than a few piano bars, karaoke, and clubs.

Just a word of advice. Don't over estimate the amount of night time fun you will be able to have. After long days at theme parks, eating dinner, watching fireworks, and maybe taking a swim the night can be over quickly. I spent a full week at WDW at the beginning of my vacation here in FL and after the parks, maybe going to do some shopping, and dinner we were still not in bed till 12:00 every night.

If you want any more info feel free to ask. I'll try to answer quicker the next time!

Thanks for all the information and advice. We own a villa on Highlands Reserve and visit Florida 2-3 times a year. The kids have visited the parks many times and are now happy relaxing by the pool during the day. They spent the night in Disneyquest in July and had a great time. I think we will give Sleuths a try on our next visit over the New year it sounds fun.

Thanks
Julie
