So, we were upstairs watching the end of the Diana concert and our tattletail Chihuahua, Cindee, who was in her crate and supposed to be napping starts yipping. She wouldn't stop, so that usually means that something is up.....like Deuce is having a seizure or one of the cats is up to something.

We went to the lower level of our house where we keep the dogs and Arwen, one of our 3 outdoor cats, had some sort of a critter pinned in underneath a magazine rack. Gabby went to free it and suddenly it zipped underneath all of the barstools at our built in bar and headed for the indoor/outdoor Coca Cola bar, but it didn't stop there, oh no, it went underneath the door and upstairs to the kitchen.

We tried to find it underneath the fridge, oven, dishwasher, but we could never see it, but BC, our strictly indoor kitty, kept watching the dishwasher. Well, it did come out and ran into the living room and then back out into the kitchen. We still couldn't find it, but we did find that it pooped the floor.

So, we opened the kitchen door and hoped that it would scurry out into the garage. Still no go. Finally, we decided to shut the door and walk the dogs for the last time of the night. Well, then we found poop on the stairs down to the bottom level. So, we hope that it's down there. We have blocked the underneath of the door so that it can't come back upstairs. We will look in the morning for poop to know if it's upstairs or downstairs. I am hoping that Arwen, George, or Cha-Cha will find the chipmunk and take it outside, if it's downstairs. If it's upstairs, I am hoping that BC will handle the situation.

I hate to wish the little guy a bad fate, but I also am having issues feeling comfortable in going to sleep worrying that there is a wild critter that might be joining us in bed. :scared1:

Darn cats! Darn chipmunks! I swear, when all of these critters are gone, that's it! Maggie

Sorry, I'm sure you don't want to hear this, but when my DD was 5, she woke up one morning when a chipmunk scurried up her arm and ran into her hair on the pillow!

Just wanted to share that with ya!

A Munk Watch is still in effect at my house. Upon waking to the sounds of BC pounching something, we got up to find that it was sadly not the Munk. We did however find that there was one poop on the kitchen floor and that the Munk had pushed the towel out of the way at one corner of the door so as to be able to come back upstairs. :sad2:

I love all creatures, but 99.9% of them never need to come into my house, let alone spend the night! I guess we are going to need to go to Home Depot or Lowes for some sort of humane traps. I can't spend another night wondering if I am going to wake up with it on me. :scared1: Maggie

Thanks so much for sharing. Now, if the situation isn't resolved today, I have new images to keep me awake tonight. :rotfl2: Maggie

My parents had one not long ago. The vacuum had been outside from vacuuming the car, so mom and the lady who stays with her (she has dementia) brought it in. The chipmunk came out of the vacuum!! They freaked. It stayed in mom and dad's room for like 2 days! Dad was digging in the closet for something, and it launched off a hanger at him. He freaked, too! They finally got rid of it, but it really bothered them for a while!

Poor little critter must be scared to death with the dogs and cats. Hope you catch it. If you lived around here I'd offer you my Hav-A-Heart, I tried catching a squirrel once outside my house, never did get the scheming little devil, but he's found a new house to hang around, I guess he realized he wasn't welcome on mine. Good luck!

Anne

Want me to send my dog over? She's captured and killed more munks than I'd care to think about. We refer to her as the Munkanator.

I swear, high jacking vaccum cleaners....scaring the elderly......doing a trapeze act from a hanger, these guys really do find a lot of mischief. And here I thought that Dale going through my bag at WDW and taking my walkie talkie around the Garden Grill restaurant for some fun was bad!

The Munk is still on the loose! Munk Watch continues......

While I would love to employ the Munkantor for her skill in tracking Munks, I don't really want to put our a hit on our Munk, just yet. Lord, I would love to be able to sleep tonight. I am so tired.....Munk-mares kept me from getting any descent sleep last night. :guilty: Maggie

I actually get a kick out seeing the chipmunks run across my deck or out front (where they're safe!). I am sad when I find out that one didn't make it. We had a yard sale in May and I was throwing something away next to my neighbor's fence. Neighbor has cinderblocks and various other crap on his side of the fence. As I lifted the lid to the can, a munk popped up out of the cinder block as if to say, "HOWDY NEIGHBOR!" He was cute!

Outside, Chipmunks are just the cutest little critters and I enjoy watching them play in the backyard. Inside, it's a Munk and the Munk's gotta go! There is nothing cute about an outdoor critter inside of my house....especially one that leaves a poop trail! Maggie

I hear ya...poop trails are never a good thing!

Well, no poop trails have been seen, but the dogs keep having yip-fests, but it's hard to tell if it's the dogs and humans making noise outside that is triggering it, or if it's the Munk! So far, no new poop trails have been seen. We are ever vigilant! ;) Maggie

Details to follow....Munk Caught....no film @ 11.....but I wish there was because OMG, Gabby squealed like a little girl. Munk has hurt leg....typing with one hand and holding ferret bag closed with the other. Maggie

I love that you came here, munk in bag, to post before disposing of the rodent. Love it!! Glad it's caught-I know that must be a relief.

The dogs kept on yipping. We kept telling them to hush. Finally, I hear a chirping sound, which I know is a distress sound of a chipmunk.....with 4 cats, you learn what that sounds like. I ran downstairs and sure enough, George had the Munk pinned under the magazine rack....deja vu.

So I yell up to Gabby that it's the Munk. She bails out of a business call to come help me deal with it. I cleared the area of everything except the small chest freezer, that is thankfully empty right now. Of course, Munk sprints for the freezer! Quickly I run across the room and dump the toy balls out of the ball bin that we have for the dogs and grab a broom. Gabby opens the door and sets the screen door hinge to wide open. She pulls the freezer to the door and gets him to come out from behind the door and out into the backyard.

Suddenly Arwen is chasing him back towards the door! :scared1: Gabby then notices that the Munk has an injured front leg. Now, all 3 cats are on the case, running from the far corners of the yard to help with the Munk! :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: We scooted the Munk under the fence, but the darn cats remained in hot pursuit, jumped the fence and had the Munk cornered. The Munk made no effort to climb the trees, so we figure that it's hurt.

Gabby decided that we should try to take it to the vet, so she took the ball bin and trapped the Munk under it on the neighbor's driveway. The neighbor asked what we were up to and we explained. I think she thought we were nuts.....which we might well be. Gabby then took an old ferret bag that we had for carrying the Chihuahuas when they were little and captured the Munk in it, but not without a bit of a chase, while fending off the cats, and releasing a couple of girly squeals that are so beneath her usual butch persona.

Gabby called our new vet and they were not much help. After a few more phone calls, we realized that a discreet release of the Munk into the front yard might be the best way to handle things. So Gabby took him out to a quiet spot with some trees and bushes and let him go. He was so freaked out, he just laid there. I imagine that he is just as exhausted by his adventures over the last 20 some odd hours as we are.

No more Munk in the house, in this case, is kinda bittersweet. I hope the Munk is ok and goes off to live a happy life with lots of other little Munklets in it's future. Maggie

I figured that I had to keep you guys in the loop. We are relieved indeed. I might get some good deep sleep in tonight, which is much needed. Maggie
