Multiple room AP rates with different check in dates

I understand I can book up to 3 rooms at a time with the AP discount. My question is do all 3 rooms need to have the same check in/check out dates in order to qualify for the discount? Has anyone had any experience before with getting an AP discount on multiple rooms with one of the parties having to check in early or later than the rest? Appreciate the help!

It would only be a problem if the passholder was arriving later than the rest of the group as you must be there to show your AP @ check-in.
