Multiple Hotels and Park Tickets Q

I have a question about my park tickets... we are heading down at the end of Summer and had always intended to stay at 2 resorts (SSR and BLT) but now we've decided to tack on a couple of extra days so there will be a 3rd hotel... we will probably stay at either a Value or Mod for a couple of days hoping for a room only discount and we are purchasing our tickets at our local Disney Store here...

So here's my Q:

1) can the tickets be added to our room keys? (I am pretty certain this is a yes)
2) can they transfer the tickets from room key to room key as we jump resorts? (this is where I am more uncertain)

I know that you can put them on a room key but I do not know about transferring them. It sounds like you could be opening yourself up for a real headache.

Personally, I do not like having our tix on our room keys. Too much risk in losing one (in a fast pass machine, etc.) for us to really consider doing it.

lol we had a machine suck up our card once, the CM just had to open it and the card was right there and easily removable.

I seem to remember only having my park tickets on my Key to the World room key when we stayed at All Star Sports and I had purchased our park tickets through Disney's website when I booked our room. That was before DVC.. Since owning at DVC, I have purchased 10 day Ultimate Park Hoppers with no expiration and use them year after year (of course my trips have only been 5 day trips with maybe 2 parks a trip). I purchased my 10 day tickets through Disney's web site and they sent them to my house so they are separate from my room key when I check in at SSR... That said, I would think if you are purchasing your tickets from your local Disney store, they wouldn't be added to your room key, but would be separate...

OK, we did exactly this some years ago. We had bought tickets ahead of time and then had them added to our room key. Mid trip we switched resorts and had the tickets transferred to the new room key.

Now, this second transfer us a little time. And if I recall, not everyone knew how to do it. And, I don't know if there have been any system changes since then that might make it impossible now. We haven't tried in a while since we get APs now and just keep them separate from our room key.

Ask a CM at a fastpass machine sometime how many park passes get left at a FP machines every day! We have even made this mistake and left DS#2's pass at an EE FP machine one day. Luckily I had the info that I needed to replace it! Anyone could have picked it up (and if it had charging privledges on it) gone crazy until I realized that it was gone charging stuff to our room.

If anything taught me not to have our room keys and park tickets attached it was that one incident!

You can take paper tickets (except annual passes) or old room keys w/ attached tickets to the concierge at your resort and they'll be able to transfer them onto your new key.

The transfer from one resort key to another may make the CM scratch his/her head, because they probably don't do it very often. It can be done, though.

The only restriction is that only one base ticket can be on the key at a given time. So, for example, if you have two old tickets each with 2 days on them, you couldn't get all 4 days put onto the key. You can have one ticket (2 days) on your key, then once those 2 days are used, you could move the other ticket onto the key.

The reverse is also true. If you have a room key that has a ticket attached, and you'd rather have it as a separate paper ticket, the concierge can do that for you too.

Losing a room key, park tickets attached or not, isn't a big deal. Any park guest services window or concierge can replace it for you very quickly. For the fastest service, have another of your room keys available to show them so they can quickly find the record. You'll just need to show an ID.

I have another option for you. I see that you are going in September (4 months from today). Why not book at the Value or Mod at the start of your trip and get free dining? It is available right now for check-ins between 8/16 - 10/3. You can buy a longer park pass than you are staying as part of the package (I think) or upgrade the pass that comes with it. You won't save a lot of money on discounts at that time of year as the rack rates are pretty low to begin with. Why not start your trip off with a few free character meals?
