Multiple DVC visits and No exp Tickets

In reading over many of the questions and responses on the Disboard, it's apparent that DVC owners are frequent visitors to DVC and many use DVC as their "getaway from the madness." I also see that some DVC's that visit frequently within the same year also purchase AP's, but what about those of you out there who visit once a year or possibly twice a year but do not feel that the AP is worth the cost...are you buying 10 day no-exp passes instead ?

Also, does no-expiration really mean no-expiration, so did Disney throw in a limitation on the time frame of using it. Except for the AP, do DVC'rs get any other sort of discount on tickets ?

We only make one trip per year to WDW, always the first week of January, so AP's do us no good. I have always bought the maximum day ticket with no exp so we can make at least 2 trips out of 1 ticket. And now you get 6 plusses with a 10 day pass, so there is a chance I can now get 4 trips on 1 tickets plusses, meaning that when the initial ticket's park days are used up, I only need a new 10 day ticket with hopping and no exp, no need for more plusses thus saving me even more money.

Plusses on the Magic Your Way tickets get you into the water parks, Downtown Disney, Disney Quest and are options that you can purchase as addons to the MYW tickets anywhere MYW tickets are sold; i.e. Disney, Ticketmania, and other ticket brokers. Go to Mousesavers.com for more info.

We spend 10 days every New Year in Disneyworld plus I travel solo another 3 to 4 weeks during the year so we buy an AP before they expire to get both the renewal rate and the DVC rate.

I have an AP, as does my dd, 12. We take at least one long trip and then maybe a shorter trip each year. My dh doesn't like to go as often. So, for our trip in May, he'll be using a 10 hopper, non-expire. That way he can use 3 days this time, and then have the remaining days to use in '07! Dd's AP expired in mid-Aug, so she'll be getting a new one for the May trip...but she's going back in Oct, so it makes sense for her to have one. I have an AP that expires in late Nov and will renew it for my early Dec trip.
Basically, if you are going to go to WDW more than 10 days a year, then the AP is terrific. The fact that as DVCers we get that nice discount is even better. But, if you aren't planning on two trips within that 365 day period, then you'll be better off with non-expire hoppers.
