Multiple Dinner Reservations

Does anyone ever make more than one dinner reservation per night? What I mean is if you have one that you think is too early, schedule a different one at another location, and then cancel once you get to WDW.

That is frowned upon by Disney. If they catch you with two reservations, they may cancel them both.

Nope! ADR's can be hard to get. I don't want to prevent someone else from eating where they want to.

Now, your're ADR's are attached to your reservation/phone # so WDW won't allow you to make multiple ADR's.

We have made 2 reservations for one night before. We only do this when we are not certain where we will be. Disney has never cancelled either reservation. We always cancel the one we aren't using as soon as our plans are confirmed. I hope this helps!

Thanks. Our TA made a reservation for us for an early dinner reservation, however our plane arrival has changed and we may not be able to make it if ME is delayed. I made a later one at a different restaurant, but I do plan on cancelling as soon as I know when we will arrive.

We do this too. We always cancel the day of, so someone else can have the spot.

Cancelling the day of still means that someone who wanted to make that ADR couldn't.
ADRs are only recently linked to your reservation number so it may be more noticable now. As long as people continue to try to beat the system, Disney will find ways to stop it. Sooner or later, you will need to guarantee all ADRs with a credit card which will open you up to a charge if you don't show and don't cancel by the specified time. If we're not sure of our plans for a given day, I don't make reservations, and we take our chances on getting to eat where we want.

We went with three grandchildren (12, 8, and 3) in January. We ate primarily at CS places (which they preferred anyway, even though we watched what they ate) and places that didn't require ADRs like ESPN, Beaches & Cream, etc.

True, but it would give someone walking up to the restaurant an opening to get in. I'm sure Disney doesn't lose out when someone cancels a reservation.

What if half your family wanted to eat at one place and the other half wanted something different? What would WDW do? I don't make multiple ADR's but it's not my place to tell someone else they can't. That is WDW job. Just my 2 cents....

I tried to get into Chef Mickey's, CRT and 1900 Park Fare and couldn't at 2 months before our trip. I know they book early and I don't mind if all those people who booked before me, actually do plan to eat there, but it would be frustrating to know we missed out because somebody double booked a bunch of reservations on purpose and then cancelled last minute the one they decided they didn't feel like using.

I agree with simplymama. I plan early as do many people and may have already given up on a favorite and booked elsewhere because someone has a "just in case" reservation. I don't think it is a practice that should be condoned.

I would never even consider doing this. If everyone did this no wonder it is impossible to get ADR's. Even if I have to cancel my only dinner reservation for whatever reason the world will not end. There are wonderful CS locations all over as a backup.

If half the family wants to eat one place and half at another just schedule thoese persons per resturant. Do not schedule the whole family for both. Lets also be considerate to other vacationers.

Personally I find making two ADR reservations, just because you don't know what you will be doing, to be a selfish and inconsiderate practice. Doing so has the mentality of I'm more important and special than anyone else -- as long as I get what I want no one else matters.

If you are new to WDW, or just maybe never considered how it could impact others, I understand. ADRs are HUGE with the dining plan now and making multiples you'll never use takes that ADR away from another family that would use them. I understand sometimes you have to cancel, but thia is not the case in what you are suggesting. I doubt WDW would stop you, I just wouldn't do it.
