Multiple ADR's-okay????

I wouldn't do it!! Yes, you are taking a risk that you really won't want to eat at a certain place at a certain time, or you have to plan where you are going to be..but it has to be done, so all you can do is plan and pray.

IF you choose to go around the system and make multiple reservations under your name/spouse's name/pet's name/alias etc, the only kind and considerate thing to do is cancel the others as soon as you know what you want to do, that way maybe someone who walks up to the restaraunt can hopefully enjoy a meal in your place. (And I'm not conding this practice..I'm just saying that it would be a nice thing for you to do)

I wouldn't really have a problem with it if it was during a "slow" time of year. But disney has effectively marketed their product so that there are no longer and "slow" times.

The free dining program last year was way oversold and many people couldn't make on ADR for their trip muck less one per day. I think there are still some open wounds about that little fiasco.

Although I wouldn't book a double ADR...I'm wondering why its frowned upon to book double ADRS but is ok for a party of 2 to make a ressie as a party of 4? :confused3 Doesn't that also take away from another family of 4 who could've used that table when you are fully aware that you are taking up a table for 4 and showing up with only 2. I'm sure this is another reason why ADR's are so hard to get.

I am sure this adds to the problem since some CM's tell people it is OK (although I have never had one tell me that, nor have I asked), but I've never done that either. When there are two of us (which is most of the time for DH and I), I book for 2. Once I booked an ADR for a party of 3 because my brother was supposed to meet us at Downtown Disney for dinner (he lives in Florida) and he called me right before we left the resort to go meet him because he was stuck at work and wasn't going to make it. No time to let them know there were only 2 of us after all. So I did tell them when I got there that one party couldn't make it...but that was true, we did plan on three when I made the ADR, and I was apologetic.

First make sure that your ADR is not linking to your room reservation, as the system is designed to parse based on multiple bookings with in 45min of each other per room reservation. When asked for your reservation number tell them that you are planning meals and someone else is dealing with room reservations.

Do you have a cell phone? and your spouse a cell phone as well? A home phone and a work number? Well there are 4 different numbers that can be linked to resies... maiden name? Middle name? Hey you are catching on quick.

Start your spread sheet by making 4 rows each for breakfast lunch and dinner, fill down the columns with the various names and phone numbers for each time period. Make 4 different phone calls at approx. 180 days out, for Sept. free DDP do this all before they make the official announcement, the first three weeks of Sept. were a good guess as to when it would be offered. Check for park and parade times online, you can find them posted about 6 months out in advance.

The multiple resies come in handy for things like trying to get seated on the patio to watch Illuminations... if our resie in the late 7pm time frame does not score us a seat outside to watch the show, we get up and leave and have dinner at Le Celliar. I never know how many times the spouse will want to see Spectro Magic, so I always have a back up reservation or two in MK in case we have to drop everything and head that way. If we are getting held up with a long wait past ADR for one location, we can send a scouting party to see if the wait is shorter around the corner, across the lagoon, or down the street, cell phones at the ready, whoever gets seated first wins and the other make the trek back.

Is it rude to double up on resies, yeah kinda... it is working the system. If you have waited an hour past your ADR at Tony's in the crowded little lobby with kids running around crazy, but know you will not be able to walk in any place else to sit down to eat so you are stuck, you can feel my pain.

I do have a lot great resies for the second week of sept, as we get closer and more recent reviews are available, I'll cancel as appropriate
.

Sounds interesting! I never thought of doing it that way. I have never had ressies cancelled by the system, but I will go thru and cancel the double ressies about 2 weeks before our trip, if I am sure I want to cancel them.

Go ahead, flame all you want. I refuse to argue with anyone on the boards ever again. I won't answer rude posters. We all have a right to our opinion, and I have just written mine. I am an obsessive planner just like the poster I just wrote to about the spread sheet. It makes a lot of sense to me. :cool1:

One previous poster wrote that the restaurant holds the ressie for 15 minutes, then lets it go. I had just the opposite experience last trip. We were late for our ressie (10 minutes, unavoidable) and the CM just skipped over our ressie and let the next party be seated. We were, however, allowed to be seated at the very next slot. If the party with the ressies don't show, they just skip over to the next party, as I was told by the hostess. :goodvibes

Disney needs to make more restaurants to help feed everyone now that they have DDP. AK, MK, and the future area of Epcot could use some. Why not add one to the Horizons building, or one in place of the Noodle Station in Epcot. or where Millionair was in Mgm. Make sure all hotels including values have a TS.
The Horizons building was demolished and is now the home of Mission: Space. If you mean the Odyssey building, that was a restaurant, but structural issues prevent it from being used for that purpose full-time. And the old Millionaire attraction is going to be a new, Toy Story attraction - they're working on it right now.
