Multiple ADR's-okay????

We went from a party of 4 to a *maybe* party of 7...I called to try and make additional ADRs for the new party size and fully intended to immediately cancel the first ones once I knew I could get new ones and the CM I was speaking with wouldn't let me do it. She told me to wait until I was sure all 7 were going and then call back. This leads me to believe they are seriously cracking down on multiple ADRs. No doubt this comes from all the backlash last year when so many people could not get ADRs -- walkups.

As for the OP, I'm sure she understands what the majority of feelings are regarding this issue. No need to beat a dead horse!

You seem very proud of this unfair practice. :sad2:

I won't flame you, but I do feel bad for all the people on the phone right now not being able to get ressies because of those like you who are hogging ADRs.

OP wanted to know how to do it, not get caught and not get flagged in the system... that is how ya do it. Feel free to flame on, like I said, I am not proud of what I am doing... but ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

Further by not linking my ADRs to package resie, I do not tell the server that we are DDP until the end of the meal... I find it makes for much better service when they think they have to earn their tip.

Complain all ya want, flame all ya want. Me and mine got ours by planning ahead.

Bring me the bell and the hat... just because someone is new to disboards does not mean they are new to WDW. I went to school with one of their lead programers, so I asked him how it works.

I appreciate your input, wildeoscar. I had an inkling that there was a way to do that, but I seriously was thinking of making ressies early (say 4-5) and late (7-8) and "seeing what the cat coughed up". But the morality police have had their say, and I would be committing a crime akin to digging up Walt and taking him to IOA for the day apparently. So I will do what is right and just and have to "suck it up" so that everyone gets a fair shot at having dinner wherever they want, nevermind that I can't get a ressie that I want. And if I can't get LeCellier because someone made a backup ressie, then BULLY FOR THEM. Guess they beat me to the punch.

Thank you, wildeoscar, for answering my original question.

I will add that I have gotten the answers I was seeking, and will not be returning to this thread. Thanks to everyone who answered without judgement.

Actually, you didn't ask *how* to game the system, you asked for opinions on whether doing so would be considered "bad behavior." Those opinions, with one obvious exception, were unanimous. Maybe some were a little more pointed than necessary, but I haven't read back through the thread and I'm not calling anyone out in particular. The point is that making reservations for dinner - at WDW or elsewhere - is an honor system. Lots of things in life, large and small, are on the honor system. I commend you for recognizing that it would be a violation of the honor system to make reservations you won't keep even though it's free and easy to game the system to do so. I don't judge you for asking the question in the first place, and I don't think many if any people did. I have no problem, however, judging someone who advocates cheating an honor system or actually does.

Being a troll doesn't mean you are new to WDW. The definition of an internet troll is: In the context of the Internet, a troll is a person who makes inflammatory statements or comments, which by effect or design cause disruptions in discourse, or a post made by such a person. Trolling can be described as a breaching experiment, which, because of the use of an alternate persona, allows for normal social boundaries and rules of etiquette to be tested or otherwise broken, without serious consequences.

An alternate definition: "In Internet terminology, a troll is someone who intentionally posts derogatory or otherwise inflammatory messages about sensitive topics in an established online community such as an online discussion forum to bait users into responding."

A. get a life

B. the intent was not to inflame, it was to inform.

you have your opinion, and I have mine.

plan early and plan often, we got burned for lack of knowledge last year on this free DDP thing... this year, plan the work and work the plan. If you don't like it don't read nor respond.

Sorry Vernrdh- I apologize. I read your post and see that you are dissappointed because you are having trouble making reservations not that you made back up reservations.
So let me correct and say that anyone who makes extra reservations just to have a backup plan should not do so to make it easier for everyone else. Good luck- I hope you can get in where you want.
Also I would like to add that if anyone has a reservation and changes their plans and decides not to go Please call and cancel it as a courtesy to others- instead of just being a no show-it would make it easier for people to get in last minute if they so desire.

Thanks for the input everyone. We were not going to make more than 2 for one evening, and one would have been early (say 5) and one later (say 7-8) and there are only 2 of us.

Honestly, ADRs are harder to get for two than for a larger party because they try to put two people only at tables for two. They save larger tables for larger parties, and it has been reported many times on this board that people asked for ADRs for 2 and were told they were booked. If they called back and asked for an ADR for 3...no problem. In an already very busy dining time because of free dining, it seems very unfair to book doubles. No way would I book multiples, and booking one at 5 and one at 7 is still wrong, because you know there is no way you can possibly (or would want to) make both of them.

Yes, it is a real pain having to book 6 months out, but right now that's how it is. It is difficult enough to get to eat where you want when without people double booking.

I'm confused why you would bump up a thread that is almost 3 months old and then not comment on it.

I accidently replied and tried to delete my post and could not find the delete key. My apologies for confusing you.

Disney is getting very strict about double bookings. Even if they weren't though it'd still be wrong IMO, since if you have an ADR you don't use, it is blocking someone else from getting that table.

It's not that hard to know where you're going to be each day. Disney releases its park hours six months in advance, which is right about the 180 day mark, give or take a few days. Good planning helps make a vacation less stressful.

Disney needs to make more restaurants to help feed everyone now that they have DDP. AK, MK, and the future area of Epcot could use some. Why not add one to the Horizons building, or one in place of the Noodle Station in Epcot. or where Millionair was in Mgm. Make sure all hotels including values have a TS. that might solve the issue of planning your trip 180 out

Although I wouldn't book a double ADR...I'm wondering why its frowned upon to book double ADRS but is ok for a party of 2 to make a ressie as a party of 4? :confused3 Doesn't that also take away from another family of 4 who could've used that table when you are fully aware that you are taking up a table for 4 and showing up with only 2. I'm sure this is another reason why ADR's are so hard to get.

I have not booked anything other than what I originally started with-one TS each day, but DH asked me should we try to make some others and see what happens. I was asking if anyone else had done so or if this was not allowed.

As far as taking away someone elses happiness-because I have an ADR and they can't get in? I can't get into LeCellier because it is booked SOLID for the entire time we are there. Am I complaining that someone has taken away my happiness? No thats called life.

I am sorry that I even asked this question at this point. I will stick with my original plan and try to walk up and be seated if we so decide.

I understand that you are frustrated. You were only asking a question. I learned a while back that some posters can be so cruel. That is why I haven't started any new threads lately. You ask an innocent question and all of a sudden you are the devil in disguise. Just ignore all of the nasty posts and go on with your life. Don't argue with any of them, don't answer their posts, no matter how tempting it is to defend yourself. Some posters love to stir up feelings and they love debate, so if you want to stay sane on these boards, just think positive thoughts, and don't give the negative people the satisfaction of knowing they upset you. Have a wonderful trip and do what you feel is right!!
