Mulching

I was thinking about putting down about a half an inch layer of cocoa shell mulch in one of my beds. There are some bulbs there that have not come up yet (like cannas). I was wondering if the bulbs will come up thru the mulch? What about bulbs for next spring too? Thanks!!!

Hi sorcerormickey!

We've used cocoa mulch many times with no problems. You will need to reapply it from time to time as heavy rain and wind can move it around a bit.

DH especially likes the cocoa smell, but it doesn't last too long.
