*~* Muggles, Welcome to the Burrow! *~*

Is anyone else going to be avoiding open forums like this one once we get closer to the book release? When HBP came out a lot of people had the book spoiled for them. They found out who died because people randomly posted about it. By saying it or showing pictures of the page where it says it. I won't be on any forum for about a month before the book comes out. Not DIS, not HP, not MySpace, nothing that just anyone can post aything. I didn't even go on Mugglenet last time just in case, even though they are careful about spoilers. I even saw a video of some jerk shouting out of his car who dies in HBP at people coming out of a bookstore the night it came out. Is anyone else paranoid about spoilers? :confused3

I will probably just go straight to my subscribed threads where I know there will be no talk of it.

I think the guy in the bolded part was just plain rude! :sad2:

I prbly will, or else just try and finish it very quickly! I did HBP in a few days, it's so addicting :upsidedow

I was done with HBP by mid-afternoon that Monday. So, just about a day and a half of interupted reading.

Figuring out past clues in the books and trying to spot others. For example-- the cabinet in Borgin and Burkes, the bezoar and wolfsbane, and even Dumbledore on Chocolate Frog cards with Nicholas Flamel-- these things have all proved to be significant later on. What else have you noticed? What do you think will be used in book 7?

I would love to hear you guys ideas on this point that was posted a few pages back. Everyone has such great ideas, and I've been trying to come up with some "random" (bad word since they're not random, but whatever you get the point) objects that may reappear in book 7 but I'm just now rereading the books so I can't really come up with any at this point.

ETA: If you preorder with Amazon, and the book comes out on the 21st, which is a Saturday, do you think you will get it on Saturday?? Anyone have any experience in previous years with this...specifically being released on a Saturday (can't remember the days of the weeks for the other books)? I don't want to order online and then have it not get here until the following Monday when I could have go out and bought it on Saturday at the store....

Oh I'm taking that weekend off just to read the book. I already wrote it on the calender at work. I will *still* avoid the open media. I do not want to know it or hear it until JK wants me to know it and read it!:rotfl:

I hope your daughter likes A Wrinkle in Time! That is such a beautiful book.

Very good response. V's army of Death Eaters will be nothing compared to Harry's (and, by extension, DD's) army of family and friends.

It is interesting you think Snape might finish off V. I just finished re-reading HBP and right now, I want Snape to die! I also want him to redeem himself; perhaps by dying at the hands of V to help Harry.

Harry was horrified at the thought of having to kill-- but we've seen him attempt it and fail. I think he is coming to terms with the idea of killing and really might be able to in the last book. Even with all the support he has, I really want to see it come down to him and V and I might be disappointed if V is finished by somebody else. I don't know... I could see Harry able to kill but the idea that he is too pure to actually do it is very valid as well... Who knows where JKR will take Harry? We'll find out in 5 months!

She likes it so far!

I do think Snape will die. I don't think there is any future for him. In the first wizarding war, he was able to play spy, and have Dumbledore there to protect him, stand up for him, and give him a job. But that won't happen again. No matter how he redeems himself in the end (and I think he will, too) most people would remember him as the man who killed Dumbledore. I think Snape is simply doomed to die.

I think I will pre-order my from Amazon but also get on the waiting list at my library. That way I'll have it that Saturday and can read the library one until my own copy comes. I just have to make sure I'm first on the list.:thumbsup2 I'll be calling them soon!

I'm thrilled that we finally have an actual date for the release of the seventh HP book, but I'm also a little disappointed that the final book and the fifth film are being released within a week of each other. We'll have SO much HP excitement and then, nothing. :sad1: I kind of wish that OotP was hitting the theaters in November, not July.

There is also additional Harry Potter news today (although not of the book or film variety.) We have been discussing this for quite some time over on the Universal Forum, but Streamscape has today confirmed that Harry Potter will be coming to Islands of Adventure. :woohoo:

I still can't get over the fact they are releasing the movie and the book so close together. It makes no marketing sense.....

I also feel the same way as you do Lisa, I wish they would wait a few months to release OotP in the theatres so as to make the HP craze last longer. But I guess we have HBP and DH to look forward to on screen, so at least a few more years. I also have to say I'm very interested in what JKR will write next - will it be a children's series again, or a series at all? What genre? She's brilliant, so I'm sure whatever she comes up with will be a good read.

Looking forward to HP at IOA. We're headed there in March, wish it would be there then! Thanks for the info Lisa!

We'll be heading to Barnes and Noble this weekend to pre-order our copy!

I am terrified of spoilers for this one especially. I want to know, but then I don't, ya know?! :scratchin

What those kids in that video did was just horrible. I remember seeing it online when HBP came out. Terrible.

We got 2 copies of the last book from Amazon. They both arrived on the morning of the book release.
If I remember right, there was a 'quick' option that was a little more, where they would guarantee delivery on the day of release and a free option shipping option where you would get it within a few days of release. I also remember a cut-off date, where you had to pre-order to be assured of getting it on the release day.

How do people find out spoilers before the book is released? (I realize I'm probably showing my naivete, but I'm curious as to how they get their info) I'm scared of spoilers, too. I didn't get into Harry Potter until right before the 4th book came out, and I waited several days or weeks to read the new ones. The last one comes out 2 days after my and DH's wedding anniversary, so he said he'd get it for me for an anniversary present. :teeth: :yay: I don't want to wait forever to read this one!!! I hope nobody tries to ruin it.

Keith Olberman was talking about the book release last night. (I love him). Anyway, if you ever watch him you know hes sarcastic and funny. He reported that 2 characters are dying in the 7th book. Then he says ...people, one of them is voldemort. the other most likely is snape...everyone hates him.

Not saying he knows anything...just noticing he mentioned it. (I cant make it sound as funny as he did)

I have loved him ever since he signed off one night by saying "so long and thanks for all the fish"

So excited for the new book!!!!

Didn't Harry find a tiara in the room of requirement? Maybe it belonged to Rowena Ravenclaw, and will come in handy later - as a shield to the wearer or something? We've seen personal objects from the other school founders.

Could Tom R.'s "special award for services to the school" that Ron had to polish that time be a Horcrux? (Pardon me if you already did Horcrux's and this was mentioned. - I jumped in late, and didn't have time to read all past topics.)

Can't think of any more right now, but anyone else??????

This was an idea that I added to on a post over on Mugglenet. JKRowling has a way of tying in things later. In the last book we saw Mrs. Weasley telling Fleur about their aunt's tiara, and Harry just happens to use one in the Room of Requirement as well. It really made me wonder if those don't wind up being 'linked' together by Harry. They could be two of a kind.;)

The tiara(s) is definitely a possibility. I also think the Mirror of Erised might pop up again, especially since DD was so keen on protecting it. What about something found in the Black family house that Kreacher managed to keep? It is so hard to think of just objects!

There are other clues as well; things people have said and learn. For example, others have mentioned this, but I think Hermionie's study of Ancient Runes will be handy. Also, I think Luna's... knowledge... (for lack of a better word) of what is (or might be) behind the veil might come into play. Neville and his back story are too important to not be used in book seven...

There is sooo much! And it is Friday after work and I'm too tired to think about it! :)

This week's Mugglecast touches on how JKR doesn't draw attention to insignificant things and talks about the scene in SS in Ollivander's where there is a single wand on display. There is speculation this could have been Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff's wand and that is why Ollivander disappeared. Lots of talk about Horcruxes, too.

What else has everybody spotted?

What did you spot in past books? For example, I knew Sirius was going to die in OOtP because of the Grimmald Place reference among other things. I still cried when it happened, though.
