evidently in VB area - there was a problem with cleaning (like the WDW hotels) and the other timeshares in the area went with throw away in the studios.

So DVC went with the same policy in all their studios.

this is from my guide.

She is not happy either. She was as shocked by this as we were. Oh SSR tried to convenience her too that it was always the policy. :rotfl:

DIsney is trying to find an enviornment safe alternative.

so everyone kept writing!!!

oh she says we will get the dish washing soap. :worship:

Yes, but when I called housekeeping last March at Vero Beach, they did send us some mugs. It took 2 calls, but we did get them.

There is already a fairly easy, environmentally friendly alternative. Issue sterilized, wrapped mugs and glasses at check-in at OKW, as there are no housekeeping carts. Really, adding a large commercial dishwasher is not a major expense, as compared to building that pool slide and its upkeep. On full housekeeping days, the glassware is collected, and you get a new set from the front desk, or they could store wrapped replacements in the maid service rooms. For the resorts attached to regular WDW deluxe resorts, the facilities should ready be in place to sterilze the items, since they are still used in regular Deluxe rooms, and no changes would even be needed there.

hey tell DVC. They are telling the guides that they don't have anything else.

part of the problem is that Disney does not do it. the orginal problem that I heard of was with CR not DVC.

can't believe that an organization as big as DVC that send the wash (towels, sheets, pillow cases, etc) to another place - can't just send the dishware off too.

Totally agree. IMO, they can but just don't feel like providing this alternative because it requires a little bit of planning.

Yeah, well, hello? Don't ALL of the DVC resorts have a restaurant attached? Then they DO have commercial washing capabilities. How about at night when the restaurants are closed. Throw in the glasses from the villas.

I'm not sure the busy restaurants, even at night, would be able to sterilize the number of cups and mugs that may be required, as they are still obviously doing restaurant dishes after closing. But how much would it cost to add a small service building with a dishwasher and storage just for the mugs and glasses?

If management has just discovered the lack of dishwasher, I shudder to think what mousekeeping has been doing to clean the glasses and dishes between guests for the last 15+ years! On second thought, maybe I DO want to bring all my own kitchenware, even in a larger unit. -- Suzanne

We were in a garden view inn room at Vero Beach from March 1 thru March 8 and had glasses and mugs in the room along with paper plates and bowls. No plastic there.

Is the "inn room" the same as a "studio. I wonder if the studio portion has it....if not then I betcha the Inn is treated like a hotel....
Anyone know?

Until our stay last March, we had only stayed in the inn, ocean view or garden view, and we always had mugs and glasses. When we stayed in the studio, there weren't any. 2 calls later and we got them. I thought it was just a mistake. We did have dish liquid.
