Muddy Buddy Training!

I still need to get out and get a helmet. I need goggles as well. Since I'm a contact lens wearer I'll need the eye protection when we jump into the mud pit.

It will take more than goggles to protect you in the mud pit! :lmao::rotfl2::laughing::rotfl:
 
Whew, barely got a workout in today. Waited and waited all day for the rain to stop and it never did. I hopped on the bike in the rain for 5 miles, it was cold and windy too :( Glad I got something in though, even if it wasn't as much as I'd hoped.
 
I've got a training mission in NYC for the next few days. No time to do any working out. I can use the rest though. I'm at the point of over training. A few days off will do me some good. :thumbsup2

SWEET! I know its work training and getting ready for this stuff...but you are living the dream my friend ;) Its a tough gig, but it sounds like fun to me!

Just received an e-mail from the muddy buddy. They put out the starting order. There will be 17 waves. The waves are based upon the combined age of the race team. Wave 1 starts at 0645.

Waves:

Wave 1. Beast, & male 45 & under
Wave 2. male 64-55,& male 56-65
Wave 3. male 66-75 & 96-over
Wave 4. male 76-85 & male 86-95, co-ed 45 & under

All of the other waves are co-ed & female only.
Me and Don will be in Wave 1 in the Beast division. The other two teams will have to figure it out based on age. :thumbsup2
 
I think Aaron and I will be Wave 4. Bummer! I won't get to run against Paul. Unless you guys want to start back with us. Usually, Disney let's you move back in the waves. You can't move forward, but you can move back to be with people. Maybe we should all start together if we all want to finish together.

I'm all for moving back if you want and if they will let us. That way we don't have to wait at the mud pit for a long time to cross the finish line. I think Paul would agree that we don't care if we win or even what out time is, but we all wanted to finish together if possible. Right??

If possible, but at the same time I don't want you guys waiting a long time for us. I'm not experienced with running in waves so I'm not sure how much time there is between waves. Maybe Dave could provide some perspective on how much time there is between waves? That may help us decide.
 
Got a nice workout in today. Pullup, squats, curls and 1.5 mile run along with a good core workout.

Here's what I've learned from a friend that ran last year.

Bikers start first, and 1 min later the runners start. The next wave follows 4 minutes later with the bikers followed by the runners, etc. If the first wave goes off at 6:45a, Wave 4 should around 7:30am. It's usually not an issue at all for teams to move back a wave if they want to run together. Team Beast would still be competing against other beast teams even if they moved back a wave - because teams will be ranked according to a chip time from a chip laced onto your shoe.

So it really doesn't matter when you start. The moment your shoe crosses the timing mat at the start line, and then crosses the timing mat at the finish line, that's your time. And it will be ranked against the other teams in the same class. The waves just help space people out on the course to alleviate congestion.
