Is there much difference in the room size, how clean the room is, bathroom etc? We stayed at the POP and didnt feel the room was the cleanist. We are thinking of downgrading from the poly to a moderate.

How clean a room is can be hit-or-miss regardless of where you stay. It's luck of the draw with mousekeeping and how much effort your mousekeeper puts into cleaning your room.

I would say the largest difference is the restaurants... the values do not have sit down table service. My recent stay at Pop the room was much cleaner than my stay at CBR. The size difference is not that noticeable. One sink instead of two for getting ready in the mornings.

I made the shift to values for the simple reason that we commando tour, we leave the hotel early in the morning, and don't get back till well past time that we're asleep when the head hits the pillow... so spending extra on a room that we don't use for anything other than to sleep, well we can use that money elsewhere.

All Star Resorts - Pop Century : 260 sq feet no refrig in room but available for fee
Moderate resorts : 314 sq feet : refrig in room

I think cleaning is not an issue for a resort category...we had the cleanest room at POP and the dirtiest at POLY so go figure

I prefer the values to the mods because they are smaller.
??

Pop has 2880 rooms and is only half done and ASMo has 1,920 (10 buildings), AS Sp has 1,920 (10 buildings), and AS Mu has 1,920 (10 buildings).

POFQ has 1,000 in 7 buildings, CSR has 1,921 rooms in 13 buildings, POR has 2,048 in 20 buildings, and CBR has 2,112 in 33 buildings.

The value rooms themselves are smaller but the resorts are about the same size.

The mods have better pools, restaurants and entertainment.

POFQ is not as spread out as the other mods or the values.

POR CBR and CSR are very spread out.

The Values are laid out closer together.

The mods have pool slides, a hot tub and a sit down restaurant (POFQ doses not have a sit down restaurant but shares with POR.

I feel there is not much room size difference between a mod and a value.

Here is the layout of a mod.
The bathroom is about the same size as the All Stars but you will have 2 sinks instead of one.

The mod has 54 square feet more than the value.
That means if both the mod and the value room were 27 feet long than the mod would be 2 feet wider. Just enough room for a double sink instead of a single.
To me that is not a lot of room size difference.

I've stayed at POP as well as POR many times. The difference in room size is negligible...about a foot or so. The bathroom is actually larger at POP than at POR. At POR, I have to go in, turn around and then shut the door. At POP, I can stand there, next to the toilet, and shut the door.
The mods have twin sinks...a bit nicer to stow your toiletries. They have the free fridge. There is a table service restaurant at them, and the main pool will have a slide. But, the moderates tend to be rather spread out. I have had a longer walk from bldg 35 (if I remember correctly) at POR than I did at POP in the furthest bldg from the food court.
The rooms at POP have always been clean...at least that has been my experience. In fact, I have had some of the best housekeeping while at POP!
The pools, although they don't have slides, are fun. There is plenty of seating poolside. And there are no hot tubs.

I think when someone says that the values are smaller, they mean that the acreage is smaller. POP may have more guests, but it is not nearly as spread out as the moderates...with the exception of POFQ.

I meant the layout of the resorts. Not how many people it can hold.

When I stayed at POR, I felt like some parts were actually way out in the bayou, whereas when I stay at POP, I feel like everything is pretty close.

Overall I found the mods much more comfortable. The rooms a re larger, more quiet and the beds are more comfortable imo. Also I like the theming of the mods better.

We will be having a pool day, our kids are 1 and 4.

If you don't mind a resort with a lot of families/kids, then I highly recommend the Pop. They have three pools, the kiddie pool area is awesome, it slopes gently down so the kids can just walk into it, and it's not very deep, and the Goofy water jets are so much fun. I'm sure that you could have a great time at any resort, but we always find this one to be a blast! One of my favorite memories from our vacation last year was not actually spent in a park, but the time we had at the pool with our DS. It was great! :thumbsup2

Edit: I see now that you've stayed at the Pop before! I have stayed at values, moderates, and deluxes. Mousekeeping is, as a previous poster said, hit or miss at any resort. Even though we love the Pop, we still don't spend a ton of time in the room, so as long as it's relatively clean, it's good for us. Hope this helps!

The hot tub is the clincher for us. The mods have them the values dont. CSR has an awesome hot tub from what I can remember.

Now, for me, the hot tubs are almost a 'negative'. While I love a good hot tub as much as the next person, I hesitate to use them at WDW. BW has one, but it's always filled with kids or with adults who are behaving badly. Nope, hot tubs are not a draw for me, at least not at WDW. Just goes to show....there is something for every taste at WDW!!!

My husband will not pay the extra money for the moderate. He does not feel that is is worth it. We have stayed at all of the moderates in the past. As for values we have stayed at All stars sports and Pop. He is one that thinks if you have to ride a bus wherever you go, you might as well stay at the value and pay less money. Also, he loves POPs food court. He does not feel the moderate is worth the extra $50 or so a night just for a water slide. We had always stayed at moderates first. We just tried the values in the last two years. Moderates do have a sit down restaraunt (all except POFQ). We never used them when we stayed there because our kids were so young. The bus service at POP was pretty quick. Buses would be full, but there were plenty of them. We always had longer waits for buses at the moderates and they shared buses. (except CSR) Pop does have a fun pool area. I know the allstars have a lot of pool side activities for kids. We stayed at the POLY for the first time last year. We are booked there in May again. We almost moved to a value b/c of POLY's $400. price tag. Honestly, my kids would not of cared because they love the theming at the values. It was us that would of missed the convenience of the POLY. Anyway, I had a garage sale this weekend and made alot more money than I expected so we are going to stay put at the Poly. Happy decision making!! You can't go wrong b/c you will be in Disney!

We've never seen kids in the hot tub, nor have we ever seen more than 5 people in the 15 person one at CSR..:confused3 Everyone has different experiences.. that's the beauty of Disney :)

We absolutely love the Mods and they feel like deluxes to us.. we would never go back to values- they didn't meet our needs. We love the hot tubs, the water slide is great, and the Pepper Market was an amazing deal with DDP. They are never many kids at CSR which we enjoy, and the busses are rarely or never full- many times we had a bus to ourselves.. which was not the case at the All-Stars we've stayed at. We think it's worth the extra. It's a little treat because hey, we're on vacation!

Because the AC at moderates is not central, it´s an old system with a big unit in every room.:dance3:
