MSEP to end Oct. 9 - Parade moves to Disneyland for a "limited time"

Maybe they will run the holiday parades nightly for the remainder of the year to fill the void?

I really would be ok with that. And I'm really okay if Paint the Night would be the replacement. But I would really love is somehow Spectro would be able to come back.
I've been thinking about that possibility
Not the MNSSHP parade but certainly they could the the Christmas parade at night and FoF during the day for the 2 weeks of Christmas and New Years

I'm not completely sure about this but I remember reading somewhere that stated they have since destroyed their Spectromagic floats.. I don't think it will be coming back

On the one side, I got bored with it last year and have been yearning for something better. Also, unless we are able to score earlier/later dinner reservations for BOG for the one night that is not a party night on our trip, we were probably going to miss it regardless.

However, I know part of my family was looking forward to seeing this parade, and I really hope that we don't end up with no night parade on our trip because that would really suck. I've been yearning to see Paint the Night for quite some time, and I hope that it will come to WDW, preferably right away so it will be there in time for our trip.

DPB and the HUB have confirmed that PtN is not coming anytime soon, definitely not this year

I think most people know the floats were destroyed but many think that they can rebuild and improve.

Having shelled out over $400 for MNSSHP, I would not be happy if they run Boo to You for everyone. That would cause an uproar. I don't see them doing that, though. However, I do see people revisiting the idea of hitting a party to get their parade fix now.

Why couldn't they rebuild them? I love the music of Spectromagic way more than Paint the Night. I think prefer no singing in my parade music.

Honestly I don't think this is so much a "Move the parade to DL" as a "stop running nighttime parades to spend money." I mean, really - it takes 3 months to move the floats to CA and get them ready to go? Someone said the new fiscal year starts October 1 at WDW. If that is true I think they are just taking this thing offline indefinitely with the BS about it going to DL thrown out there to make it seem like a happy and planned thing. If they intention were to bring it to DL then why aren't they bringing it to DL and running it rather than saying it will be coming "next year"?
Holiday rehearsals are in full swing for both WDW and DL. The holidays run until the end of the year, meaning rehearsals for something new won't even start until January. Typically a rehearsal for something of this size will run approximately three months. I find this timeline to be right on track. Also, knowing this, it is in the realm of possibility that once the limited holiday run of PTN, it could still potentially show up at WDW sometime in the Spring/Summer.

If they are not going to do a nighttime parade, just say so and deal with it already... I just wish they would just announce something and not leave guests planning ADRs and Fastpasses (which they want you to book so far in advance) hanging!

Well, I guess on the bright side, that's one less thing to rush through dinner for. Might just keep our BOG reservations as is after all.

Right, if holiday rehearsal are in full swing and something won't even start rehearsing until the new year then why shut it down in October rather than in January? It is a money saving thing pure and simple. They could run MSEP out through the holidays and then move it during the slow season. But they are choosing not to and I have to believe that is a dollars and cents decision.

Well. I guess we have some decisions to make. My kids loved MSEP. They saw it only once. We are going in Sept and had planned a water park day and thought to hit TL, hopefully, before shark reef closes. We may have to decide between them. Decisions, decisions.

It will take that time for disassembly, transportation and renovation before utilizing them for rehearsal. I'm also thinking training teams from WDW would need to go assist with training drivers, the cast who direct the floats and the safety team beforehand. They wouldn't likely be available until after the Holidays.

I just think the timing is weird. if it's not about the money then why not do it during January-March and have it up and going for next summer? seems to me that is the more typical schedule for such things in the past. But removing it right at the beginning of a new fiscal year and during the busiest time of the entire year sounds like a cost cutting measure and nothing more.

So no MSEP (even though its still listed on our October dates). What about the fireworks? Parks still open util midnight without 2 parades. I wish we would get more notice.

FYI - Paint the Night Parade is our families absolute FAVORITE. I hope it get to WDW by spring - everyone who hasn't seen it will love it.

So I guess I have to prepare myself for no night time parade in January. We will be in MK for my birthday and I was so looking forward to the parade (Last saw it in 2009) Very disappointed.

I disagree - Although money is at stake I think the rationale was that DL was in sore need of an attendance boost with all the construction going on and the thought was to pull MSEP back as all of DL's nighttime activities are winding down and the Paint the Night parade has gone a little stale. Pulling it in October gives them the ramp move up time to get it over to DL while absorbing the hit during all the holiday parades at MK. I don't think the issue was "let's save money at MK by not having a parade" but "We've gotta shore up DL's attendance numbers FAST and MK can absorb the hit".

I agree that it's shortsighted, stupid (and least of all reflects very poorly on Disney's executive management) to not have a new show spun up and ready in the wings to go and makes it seem like management is flailing about in a reactionary matter and the ship is out of control. As a shareholder I find this all very disconcerting and if I had any pull (I'm not that big of a shareholder) I'd be calling for Iger's head at this point as the theme park division seems to be completely out of control (especially compared to Universal's encroachments into that area), the resorts division is rapidly deteriorating with reduced AND poor customer service and the movies division isn't moving well at all. (The Marvel division is doing VERY well as is Star Wars but without that the rest of Disney's line up has been very lackluster.)

So gutted. Was in the midst of planning with my mother last night when I saw the post. We're missing MSEP by 6 days - 6!! Was going to be first visit for DD and we had lined up everything to have dinner and be able to get excellent spots for the parade. Sigh - guess we'll take an extra spin on Dumbo now.... Really hoping that RoL might be ready by then.

I'm pretty sure attendance has been down at Walt Disney World. But I'm really not sure that's the case at Disneyland. Although with all the entertainment they are taking away after September 5th, I wouldn't be surprised to see that happen now.

And trust me, there's nothing stale about Paint the Night.
