MS made my day - confirmed BW view!

After reading the posts on new MS policy concerning BW view (thanks again DIS members!), I called MS this morning - wanted to be sure that the BW view request I had added to my res had been noted (this is a rented pts res that a Diser had made for me before I joined and BW view was not listed under requests on the confirmation when I received it) - long story short - I was told that it was on and that they now will confirm that view and hold the room (2BR) for me. I won't always be requesting it - or spending the extra points (or be checking in on a Sat as I am this time - yikes!), but this is a special trip and I'm bringing my grown DDs who have never stayed at BWV before (or any deluxe)- first stay at BWV for DH, too, and I want him to be happy that he just joined DVC - I know this will convince him. I may still have to add more rooms if my parents and/or DDs family decide to come, but as long as we have at least one BW view room to hang out in (and so I can enjoy my breakfast on the balcony), I'm happy! - now I'm extra glad that I bought at BWV (don't get started -I was just following DIS advice to buy where I plan on staying the most - what great advice I find here !)

We had the same good fortune. I called Member Services first thing this morning, and they were able to change my existing Boardwalk view request to a Boardwalk view reservation. It won't make or break our vacation, but I won't have to spend the next 6 weeks wondering if our request will come through. I think this is a great change.

Woohoo, just called Member Services, and we have it too!!!!!! I'm so excited! First trip to our home resort, and we will have THE view!!! The CM told me that they converted many of the reservations this weekend. New confirmations will be mailed out this week.

Did all of you who now have a confirmed boardwalk view make your reservations at the 11-month mark?

If not, I'm just trying to figure out how they decided who gets the boardwalk view and who doesn't.

We made our reservation in May for a September 27 arrival date.

I'm curious about this too -- we made our reservations June 9th for a January 4-8 stay in a one-bedroom and did not get Boardwalk View. We were put on a waitlist.

For those curious, I wrote in another post, that MS started with the earliest reservations (11 months out) and pushed people into Boardwalk View rooms if they'd requested such, until all of those rooms were taken. However, they did not start a waitlist following this same procedure. They started the waitlist this morning as people were calling in. When I called this morning, I was put on the waitlist and I have to think I was probably the first for this time period, as I was waitlisted at 9:07 a.m.

Just a note that I'm now hearing different information. Somebody posted that they had already been placed on a waitlist, while a friend also e-mailed me with the same information. I'm now wondering if my request was overlooked as I was not placed on a waitlist.

JOC - my res was made at 10 months (early March) for January. When I spoke to MS this morning my BW view had already been locked in and CM said a new confirmation would be mailed out.

married@wdw - sending some prayers and pixie dust that you will get your bw view for your special trip (we're coming in as you leave) - at the very least I hope they save you the best pool view to make up for their misunderstanding - my experience with requests has always been very positive - hope yours is, too!

If only my DFamily knew (and appreciated?-yeah, right!) how many wonderful 'magic moments' on our trips have occurred because of info like this that I have learned from my "Disboard hobby"!

Did they change the points required? Or is a BW view still a Preferred View and same # points needed as for other Preferred View locations? We love BW view and will definitely ask to confirm it next time we come!

(I can't really see them adding a third tier to the already complex BW reservations, but I'm obsessive about confirming such things.)

Thanks so much bjakmom -- and I hope your family has another magical vacation as well! I did get wrong information from MS first thing yesterday morning (I think there's been a lot of that wrong information going around lately) -- I had been added to the end of the waitlist even though I had requested BW view at 7 months out. I was surprised to find out that my request was overlooked because I didn't explicitly ask for Boardwalk View (asked for Atlantic Dance or Beach Club view). The manager I spoke with was wonderful and put me in my rightful place on the waitlist -- she said I'm very close to the top and, while she can't guarantee anything, she'd be shocked if I didn't get it. Doesn't make the waiting any easier, but she really was a sweetheart on the phone.
