Mrach eat out of the fridge/freezer/pantry challenge

Last night was chicken tenders with mac n cheese (we also have loads of mac n cheese in the pantry to eat).

Tonight will be spaghetti, salad and garlic bread. I'm using ground turkey breast from the freezer for the sauce. The garlic bread also is from the freezer. We have a ton of pasta in the pantry. I only had to buy the salad items.

Last night was Swiss Steak using up a piece of beef steak that needed to be used. I had to buy the carrots and tomatoes, though. We had mashed potatoes from the packet in the pantry. Lunch today was leftover casserole from Monday, yogurt, and bean salad from the pantry. Tonight will be Salmon haning out in the freezer, rice from the pantry, and salad.

Doing OK so far.

I've been looking for this thread...... it seemed to disappear for a few days.

We've been doing good eating out of the freezer and pantry. Tonight will be turkey quesidillas. I took inventory of the fridge and the bread bin is overflowing with wraps and tortillas! Plus we have a few kinds of shredded cheese. I scrounged some cooked frozen turkey parts from the freezer and we will be all set. Wish I had some onions to add, but the veggie drawer is just about BARE! (I will be making a run to the market for fruits and veggies tomorrow.)

Last night was a pork roast from the freezer. (I buy a HUGE pork loin when it goes on sale for $1.99/lb or less and cut it into dinner size roasts. ) Also had the last of the fresh asparagus, the last portion of couscous from a big tub bought at BJ's months ago, and I also had some cooked carrots for myself.

Two nights ago.... meatloaf from the freezer (made back in October). I make a huge batch of meatloaf a once and precook them all at once before they are frozen. It is a SUPER quick thing to warm up on nights when I forget to defrost something! Plus my son loves it (little does he know how healthy I make it... full of pureed veggies and beans!!). Rice pilaf from the pantry (probably bought on sale with a coupon, as I rarely buy this), and asparagus. Dh and I love asparagus and it has been on sale a lot lately!

Sunday night was easy stuff (sandwiches, fish sticks, leftovers) because we had a nice dinner in the afternoon at my MIL's.

I love that I have been able to avoid the market lately. And I haven't let DH stop, even when we needed milk, because a stop for $2 worth of milk would turn into $50 or more with him. And most of it would be junk!!

I will try to limit tomorrow's market trip to just fruits, veggies, and a few coupon items. Glad to hear so many of you are doing well also. As my trip gets closer and closer, I am more motivated to avoid the grocery stores!.......P

Let's see... Tuesday we ate lunch with DH at KFC for lunch $13. This makes the 3rd time we've been out this month. It amazes me b/c if you knew how much we normally ate out...

Anyway, Tuesday night was BBQ Boneless beef ribs w/ranch style beans & salad. Last night - Chicken parmesan, yummy! And tonight, pot roast. I just love the crock pot!

DH has a rewards program at work and we just redeemed a bunch of points for some Chili's Gift Cards. I'm hoping we can go out tomorrow night. I'm so tired of cooking!

We were supposed to take a long weekend and go to NOLA, but DH & DS are down with a cold & BIL had a new baby, so it looks like we'll be staying home.

Well, I have been called to work the past three days (I'm a substitute teacher), so I haven't made it to the market yet. The only fresh produce left are two oranges, a few apples that have seen better days, half a head of cabbage, and 4 large carrots. Guess I need to get there TONIGHT, or we will be living on cereal and sardines!

Last night was pancakes for the DH and kids and a Gardenburger for me. No meat, no veg, no fruit!! But it was a swim night and Survivor night, so there wasn't much time.

I may end up going to our little local market (11 miles away) instead of driving all the way to the big chain store (22 mi away). The produces prices are only slightly higher than the chain store prices, plus I won't end up buying lots of extras (because I know they usually cost more at the little market). A quick trip there will probably get us through the next week or so. I'll be trying to keep it under $75... maybe even under $50.................P

ETA: Okay, I finally made it to the little market.... and I was hungry. I ended up spending $133.82. OOPS! Almost $100 was on fresh produce. The remainder was eggs, butter, bread, and lunch meat. Nothing crazy or extravagant. And we had a FABULOUS stir-fry tonight with some of the veggies.... SO yummy. But I was shocked at how much I spent. But I definitely have enough produce to last 2 weeks (assuming it doesn't go bad). And enough bread and eggs for almost that long. I did forget my seltzer (which I am drinking since I gave up Diet Coke and I am trying to increase my water intake), which I consider a necessity, but other than that we should be good for the month!!....................P

I made burgers on the grill tonight. They were delicious. Last night we went to Chili's and used up some of our FREE gift cards. It was so good. I had buffalo chicken fajitas & for dessert, we split the molten chocolate cake.Nice to not have to cook for a change. And with just one week until Easter, there's still plenty of meat in the freezer! My grocery bill has been running about $40 each week. I spent $75 yesterday, but I also got some clothes for the kids, easter stuff, and some top soil. It's gonna be a sad day when I have to buy meat again.
