Mr. Sanchos Taxi

I read on a previous thread, that some taxi drivers were charging much more than the posted prices for return trips from Mr. Sanchos back to the Magic. Has anyone had this problem lately?

We just made sure they told us the price before we ever got in the cab. Mr. Sanchos is awesome. It and Carlos and Charlie's made Cozumel our second favorite day of the cruise (after Castaway cay!).

Hi, just got back yesterday - shopped, did the Dolphin Swim, and then to Mr. Sanchos --

We read the previous thread also, and I had quite a discussion with the taxi driver at Chak.... Park about the price -- we were with another family of four dis'ers, and we all agreed that the most we were willing to pay from there was $10 - and that is what we agreed upon with the driver, even though the "door man" was trying to get $20.

We left Mr. Sanchos' about 4:30, it was getting dark and we had teens to get home to change for the teen cruise that evening at 6:00. there were not many other patrons there when we left, and there was a huge line of taxis.

In front of me was an austrailian family probably 10 people, and they were being quote $45 for the van plus $30 for a car -- the drivers all stood around, smirking - and I told two of the adult members that there was a lot of info on the internet about the charges at this particular stand -- and showed them the board with the prices posted. They then negotiated a better rate, and left.

We got a van for 8 for $30 back to port. The driver was about 12 cars back in line -- all the other drivers wanted us to take two separate cars ($25-30 each), but we insisted, and one eager young man jumped up, said he would take us for $30, ran to his van, and maneuvered his way out to take us - he was very polite, and smart - there were probably only 1 or 2 fares left that night.

I agree with bbgrizzle - state the price you are willing to pay, and do not get in unless they repeat back to you "8 people, $30".
