MR January 29 2012- Who's in?

Last time I did the FE, I just put them in every extender I saw. I ran out. Missed two decks. I didn't take a list with me, we just went and put them in any bag, etc. that was out. I had made extra.

Also, I think we had just cabin numbers in our meet thread. So, if there were two pockets....I think that's why I ran out.

I have GTY cabin. Still waiting for the number :cool1:

I love doing the FE. My nephew is going to love it! Put a sucker in it and he would be fine! ;)

My mom and I are getting together this week end for our FE preparing!:banana:

are we going to have a meet and greet? I was wondering because there may be cabin changes on the sail date. We upgraded on our Alaska cruise when we checked in and let everyone know our new cabin at the M&G. I organized the FE for that cruise and had a list for each participating cabin. We were able to make the changes at the M&G. This may not be the best way because not everyone will want to come to a M&G on the first day.

I have also heard of the organizing person (that is you moomy-san, with my greatest appreciation for you taking this on:worship::worship::worship:) doing a final list and posting it on their cabin, then it would be up to everyone to check the list (sounding quite Christmasie isn't it) to see if there has been any changes. If people upgrade at the port it would be up to them to contact you with their new cabin #.

I just don't want to miss anyone because of cabin changes. Worked on my FE stuff today, getting so close and exciting.
We had the same issue with cabin changes on our cruise, so I would think that a meet on the first day would be best just in case we have some changes. I will print lists before I leave home and distribute them at the meet. Thats a good idea to post one on our door-I know our family has no plans to upgrade as we booked a 4a because we love the location :)

moomy-san...thank you so much for doing this. You are like our "team mom" :lovestruc

alaskanabbott...Did you and your hubby want in on the FE too.. or just the kids? I was just going over the list and realized you hadn't added any adults to your FE list :)

SURE!

In our cabin, with Macylea and Mackenzie is DH Mike and me, Amber
In the cabin with Caelan and James is my dad Mel- now he's getting into the fish extender too! :rotfl2:

I included you and Mike anyway, I will include your Dad Mel, I think I may be a little mixed up from the FE list (with who is staying in each cabin) but don't think it is a big deal as it is one family...... I had Elijah also, he is cruising

:cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

We celebrated my DD's 13th birthday today! I gave her the cruise in her card! She was so excited! When she found out we are cruising with Grandma and our nephew5 - she was so happy!

Let the planning begin! :banana::banana::banana:

I am making a countdown calendar for my kids as part of the Christmas surprise, what does everyone think?

This is a small version, I have a better one for when I print it out.

Crap just noticed I missed the 10th of Jan. Gotta fix and repost

Ok real one this time :)

This may sound weird but what is a Fish extender and how do you participate in the gift exchange. my wife and I are traveling with my brother and his 2 young kids and it sounds fun. we have been on DCL a few times but not sure about that. I searched and found images of a fish. It didn't quite help me.

We are excited for the cruise though we have 11 of us sailing and its our 2nd time on the wonder the first was back in 99 so I am thinking things have changed since then.

:confused3

This is the FOURTH time I have tried to reply to this. :confused3 So thankfully, and lucky for you toontoy, you get to read the short version :thumbsup2

In a nutshell:

There is a iron(ish) fish that is next to the cabin doors. At level with the peep hole on the cabin door. It extends about an inch. Sometimes the staff will leave notes there. Around Halloween time, way back, people started putting bags out for trick & treating. It carried over to people putting bags out that hang from the fish extender for other occasions. And then it started to be every cruise and some started making them with pockets for each person. This is where I would lose my post because I tried to show you where I got mine on ebay. But it's easy to find...just search Disney Cruise fish extender and gradysmommy did mine.

Here is some more info :: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1980639

Whew.

And I love that calendar! Great idea!:worship:

So how's everyone coming on your pirate-y stuff? I have a costume for my dad, Mackenzie (girl7) and Macylea (14) and a pirtate shirt and belt for Caelan (boy16) and James (14). I still need something for Elijah (11) and Mike and me. Mike is pretty easy, he just has to pick his favorite one off Ebay, or some such place. As for ME....unless I want to look like the paid version of a pirate girl....I'm having trouble finding family appropriate female costumes. Anyone else have luck?
Moving on to formal wear. I bought all the men matching slacks, vests and ties in a beautiful blue, except my dad, who is wearing a blue suit. I can't seam to find Macylea and I anything we LOVE in blue. I found (and bought:goodvibes) a beautiful pink dress for me, so after insisting everyone wear blue on formal night, I may be the only one in pink:rotfl: We were going to do yellow on semi formal night, which means either yellow ties for the men, under white shirts and black slacks, or yellow dress shirts and blacks slacks, no ties. I don't want my family looking like a bunch of bumble bee's though, but I also don't want to pack so much formal formal wear. I did find a stunning yellow dress that fits both me and Macylea, so depending on what else we find, one of us is wearing it!
We leave in 45 days, we are getting to LA on the Friday before the cruise, and suddenly it feels like I haven't planned a thing!!!! My son Dakota gets home from college this Friday, and I plan on spending every extra minute with him. ( he will probably be spending it with his girlfriend and buddies, but I can hope)
Ok, back to online Christmas shopping, I can't wait to meet you all SOON!!!

Wow, wow, wow!! That is amazing. If I can get my 11 year old out of jeans for formal night I will consider that 'formal wear'. We are not much for glitz so I'd guess a suit for my husband and a dress for me and my little girl... but I wear dresses all the time so that won't be a big stretch. We dressed up for Pirate night last time but we aren't this time. My kids did not love Pirate night  and this time have requested that we just get in line for the buffet and take our food and go play a game somewhere. Weird, I know. I am so glad that my youngest still lets me do OTT things for her... I sure will miss that when she is bigger :(

We're doing 'pirate light' no over the top costumes just a touch of pirate. I am wearing capris, a loose top and an large brown belt... a little bit pirate like. DH is wearing pants and a pirate shirt. DD has a pirate skirt and a tshirt and DS is to young to care what he wears.pirate:

For formal night DH is wearing a suit, DD is wearing a Cinderella dress, DS is also wearing a little suit (hope it fits him and isn't to big.) And I picked up a black dress. I tried to put a picture up but not sure how to.. :confused3 This site doesn't let you send a picture from your computer?

Yay! I finally have a stateroom number now! We'd love to participate in the fish extenders!

It's me-Heather, Jimmy (11), Andrew (5) and Aubrey (5)

I think we got a good room! 7544...and we had a 6a and believe this is a 5a...little bit of an upgrade and it's mid ship by elevators so I'm happy!!

We are doing pirate night, too! I laughed at the post on the sleazy women costumes as that is all I can come accross, too! 1. I don't have the body and 2. If I did, I still wouldn't wear them-ha! So...I'm thinking Im going to have to do some creative dressing to resemble a pirate of some sort!

My family is crazy, they are into going all out for everything, even the teen-agers! They can't wait for Pirate Night, but then again, this is our first cruise, so they may not be so excited next time. What was it about Pirate Night they didn't like? I'm sooo excited to dress-up, I may even buy us girls all tiara's, I know it's silly, but we don't get to do things like that often.

I think the two older teen boys are going to do "pirate light". I bought puffy pirate shirts and big belts for them, plus head scarfs. My hubby wants to go all out, so I'm going to also!!! Our littlest princess is going to wear a blue Cinderella dress on formal night also. That's why we are all wearing blue :goodvibes If I remember correctly you have to post pictures to PhotoBucket then add them on here. It's been awhile since I added pics, I know there's a tutorial somewhere.

I've seen some pics of women who dressed a little to reveling on Pirate Night, and while I think it's awesome that they look so fantastic in thier outfit, I think people need to remember that this is a family cruise, and may not be apprieciated by everyone. I was thinking the same as you, I will probably have to buy what I can find, then add skinny jeans or leggings and a jacket.
