MR January 29 2012- Who's in?

My family is crazy, they are into going all out for everything, even the teen-agers! They can't wait for Pirate Night, but then again, this is our first cruise, so they may not be so excited next time. What was it about Pirate Night they didn't like? I'm sooo excited to dress-up, I may even buy us girls all tiara's, I know it's silly, but we don't get to do things like that often.

My kids are not 'joiners'. They are 'watchers'. It's too bad because it all seemed like so much fun and they just watched everyone else dance and enjoy themselves. The biggest disappointment to them was not getting a turkey leg at the buffet. pirate: If you and your kids like to participate, you will have a blast!!

We got our cabin assignment today too!

We have the Kids Sail Free and got an upgrade from a Cat 5 to a Cat 4. I thought for sure with the KSF we would not get an upgrade. So happy!:cool1:

For our FE - we are in 8024! Never have been forward or port side in all my 5 DCL cruises. At least we are located near the less crowded elevators :thumbsup2

Thank you so much! I'm doing one and my mom is doing one as she babysits my nephew 5 who is coming also!

So is everyone ready for Christmas? We are ready... baking is done, presents are wrapped and the week of recitals and performances at school is finished!! Now, if you asked me how many actual days until Christmas :santa:I have no idea... but I always know how many days until our cruise. What does that say, hey?

A friend of mine is in Disneyland right now and I am having a hard time not being jealous. We have 4 days in DL after the cruise and I am looking forward to that so much. This DL trip could be our last for a while. :sad1: My husband and I have a RC Allure cruise in September and we plan on Hawaii (a secret!!) with the kids for next January, followed by DisneyWorld and Harry Potter in December. Of course if DCL stays on the west coast I'll have a hard time staying away!!

Happy Week-before-Christmas!!

Good to hear that you're so far along. Almost ready for Christmas when it comes to shopping... everything else has to get done this week!

We're doing 'pirate light' no over the top costumes just a touch of pirate. I am wearing capris, a loose top and an large brown belt... a little bit pirate like. DH is wearing pants and a pirate shirt. DD has a pirate skirt and a tshirt and DS is to young to care what he wears.pirate:

For formal night DH is wearing a suit, DD is wearing a Cinderella dress, DS is also wearing a little suit (hope it fits him and isn't to big.) And I picked up a black dress. I tried to put a picture up but not sure how to.. :confused3 This site doesn't let you send a picture from your computer?

Since we Knew about the cruise early enugh I was able tyo get costumes for the boys at a super steal after halloween sale .. got hubby a shirt and patch and some pirate hoat .. I am doing similar to other cut off capris with a blue and white stripe shirt with a red sash ... ARGGGHHH

I can't wait we leave in just over a month

Found matching hubby/wife costumes yesterday, so those are done, now still need one for Eli. My son Dakota got home from college this morning, and him and I finished off the Christmas shopping. Then he took his siblings to a recreation of Bethleham City, before settling in with them for a night of video games. I'm not sure I'll let him leave in two weeks:love: This is our first family vacation w/o him, and suddenly feels a bit less than perfect.
Well, otherwise, all gifts wrapped, and ready to celebrate! Anyone else coming into LA early? We're heading to Santa Monica Pier, Venice Beach and Griffith Park Saturday, before the cruise.

Had so much fun today buying fe gifts! One of the stores that I love in my city had a huge sale today. Gave my DH a bit of a shock though when he realized that we are having to pack everything and take it down to LA with us. LOL I helped him to get over that shock by showing him the large bin of things I've been putting together for the cruise. :scared1::banana::scared1:

I totally know what you mean!! We bought new HUGE luggage for my kids for Christmas so that I can fit some of my stuff in their bags ;) and have more room for FE/cast member gift type stuff in mine!!

We are getting down to LA a few days before the cruise so I'm just going to put all of it together there when the kids are napping at the hotel. I figure if I take it down already sorted and bagged it will be crushed and mangled before I even get to the port.

:rotfl: My mom and were talking today about luggage. I had to remind her that we each get two tags and we are using all. So little DNephew5's second suitcase is FE :)

Speaking of luggage- last year we did 11 days at WDW, 3 adults 6 kids, two bags total:scared1: plus each kid had a carry on :lmao: my dad did laundry half way through one day while we all sat around the pool. I don't see that happing this time though. Our formal wear is going to require a suit case all to itself.

We just have tiny luggage. When we went to DWD our check in bags was the size of most peoples carry on. It was crappy for packing but cool watching it spring out of the shoot and fly down onto the belt. This time we're going to get bigger luggage. We're going to take quite a bit I'm afraid and we still plan on doing laundry a couple of times. Crazy.. yes... but we're gone for 2 weeks.

I seem to take everything I own and only wear half of it. We will be in Vancouver for a few days before we cruise, then the cruise, then off to Aulani after. The packing demons are starting to surface for me. What to take, what to take!!!
I did buy a new top today for our Palo supper:banana: Then there are the FE gifts
Big, big countdown starting.

My downfall will be all of the little extras I need to take. The person who always packs the most clothes is my DH. DS and DD are small and although they need a lot of clothes they're small so they don't take tons of space.

:confused3

This is the FOURTH time I have tried to reply to this. :confused3 So thankfully, and lucky for you toontoy, you get to read the short version :thumbsup2

In a nutshell:

There is a iron(ish) fish that is next to the cabin doors. At level with the peep hole on the cabin door. It extends about an inch. Sometimes the staff will leave notes there. Around Halloween time, way back, people started putting bags out for trick & treating. It carried over to people putting bags out that hang from the fish extender for other occasions. And then it started to be every cruise and some started making them with pockets for each person. This is where I would lose my post because I tried to show you where I got mine on ebay. But it's easy to find...just search Disney Cruise fish extender and gradysmommy did mine.

Whew.

And I love that calendar! Great idea!:worship:

Thanks so much for the info. I think it sounds fun. getting excited for the cruise more so than christmas, but that could be because its below zero right now. :santa:

One best things about to happen is our Christmas surprise! No longer will my wife and I have to talk in "code" around our kids. We can start sharing the excitement with them!!!!

OMG! I have to give all of you credit if you've been able to keep the cruise a secret from your kids. DD has known about it since we started talking about it and every day.. many times a day she asks if we're going on the cruise tomorrow. The other morning she was having breakfast and she asked me if she'd be able to have scrambled eggs on the cruise. It was so cute!
