MR BACK's Back!

Susan, sending all my thoughts and prayers to you and your family. Boy, this has been a rough year or so for you. Lot's of hugs and I'll talk to you soon.

Jessie cried most of this morning before we took her to kennel. She got to check out the toys and treats area before she was taken to the back room (she picked out a doggie favorite goodie). We got to peek at her being led to her cage. She tried to have a running start to jump over the open air cage, but that did not work. She also tried to climb out and gave us the saddest look and tears. There is a 80 lb. black lab. boy in the cage next to hers and the staff is pretty much the same as earlier this year. I forgot to give her monthly heartworm pill, so we have to leave early in the morning to drop it off.

:( ...sorry it was so hard on her, I know it must've been hard on you too....but sounds like she has a friend in the cage next door :dog2: :dog:

:scared1: I got about 7 hours to pack, sleep, and eat before we can go. I hate to wake NC Beast up when he worked a lot of hours yesterday and last night (9-2pm plus mid.-10 am).

Good luck and have a GREAT(and safe) trip! :cool1:
Looking forward to hearing all about it next week! :teeth:

Geffric  so sorry about your dad. I hope you are doing ok and know he's in a good place without pain.

slo I dunno your color, but I think this is it. The history of the thread is this, there is another thread where a lot of people visted and some things got hairy over there. This thread was started for peace and a little disconnect. The other thread also moved very fast and if you missed a day, you missed 30-60 plus posts. Lots of the same people came to post here, just a little less....so it's more manageable :)

As for the name, well...I can't really explain it. But originally, we liked to rate men's butts. That's kinda gone by the wayside. The reason it's Mr Backs Back is because someone from the other thread had Mr Backs closed because they had said we were the same. We aren't. I fixed that just by opening Mr Backs Back. The original thread did get re-opened by a mod, but we'd already started this one...so here is where we stayed. :flower: Anyone is welcome. It's all good.

castlegazer we have that Allegiant (or whatever) airline here too. $59/way, intro rates. I don't think I'll ever use it simply because it goes to Sanford. The money you save on the flight, you pay to travel from Sanford. For us anyhow, because we hire a town car to pick us up. Well, we used to before the Magical Express started and now that would even save us more money. I can usually find rates @ $109 RT - 159RT, major airlines, out of Chicago on special. I'm good with that.

Hey there DHB. I'm so jealous of your upcoming trip...and everyone elses.

Really glad I passed on it this year because of the hurricanes. I don't much like being wet. If I'd have gone, I'd have wanted to go in early Oct anyhow to utilize my AP (which expired 10/9). So I'd have missed ya'll anyhow.

Thank you Lewski709 for the great explanation about this thread - I appreciate it!! I'm really enjoying having another thread to go to where I know many people and am able to meet some new people - thank you for welcoming me. :flower: :flower: :flower:

NCBelle - I wanted to say, have a good trip!! Stay safe and let us know everything about your trip when you come home :)

Goodnight everyone and talk to you all later!!

geffric, OMG, I know how hard this must be for you. :grouphug: You are in our thoughts and prayers. We will drink a toast to your dad when we have dinner with NC Belle & NC Beast on Monday Night (Lord Willing and the Crick don't rise) I am glad he is no longer in pain, and I am sending all of the PD I can...

slo, Goodnight!!!

NC Belle & NC Beast, See you Monday Night as long as AA doesn't cancel our flight, or the NWS doesn't say ::no:: stay away. I am glad Jessie will have company...

Lewski709, I just noticed your countdown timer... It looks like you are about halfway there. If you have a little girl, maybe we can set up a play date at WDW with TagBabyIan... Just a thought. Hugs to the family...

cadburysmom and kadaten, Sorry to hear of your angst with AA. I have a few connections, and I asked 2 different ones for help. RRBB has a cousin who works for AA handling special needs problems. She moved us to one of the blocked rows. This is part of her job; A baby oon his first flight needs his parents with him. It is all knowing the right person to call.

As far as our travel goes...We have pretty much decided that if AA cancels the flight we will skip this trip. We will also probably not go if the National Weather Service issues a strong enough warning. Just about everyone I know is telling me I am crazy for going... Except for the people at AA we know, and a couple of others who know the way these things work. We will NOT do anything to endanger our son, but just because the media is hyping something for ratings on a slow news day doesn't mean we are going to panic.

:jumping2:

geffric, I am soo sorry. You lost your mother around the same time I lost my father and I will always remember how you were there for me during that time. Please know that we are all here for you. This must be extremely numbing, exhausting, and tremendously painful for you to go through.

I found this poem on the web and it speaks to exactly how I felt and its my offer to you:

I know the feeling of being all alone

even when there are people all around.

I know the feeling of emptiness,

that surrounds you at a time like this.

I know the feeling of despair, when nothing is comforting.

I know the feeling of anger that this person did not live

Long enough for you to see one more time.
The feeling that you have been aware of
but suppressed deep within.
The feeling you get when someone says
"Is there anything we can do?" or
"If you need anything call me. "
When the whole time you are thinking,
"the only thing anyone can do is bring
him back." But, knowing this is totally unrealistic.

I know the feeling of sadness, knowing you

have lost someone you love, and will
not see them again until you meet
them in the great beyond.

I know that there is no right or wrong way

to grieve. Each person must do this in
their own way, and take as long as
necessary to work through this
roller-coaster of emotions.

I know there is nothing to be said or done.

If you need a hug, or just someone to sit
With in the quiet, I’ll be there.

Lewski709 - we had the worst travel experience ever flying into Sanford. Its a nice little airport and John Travolta keeps his plane there, but its a little airport. The car rental counters shut down after 5pm, the airport itself closes, and there are very few taxis. Here's my story - and its pretty horrific.

Our flight was delayed due to losing an engine over Virginia and having to make an emergency landing in Norfolk, VA - yup, losing an engine, like it freakin fell off, and I told you the worst part was Sanford - so we had to wait for the next flight of Pan Am coming down from Manchester, VT because these little airlines only have one or two planes - no ability to just send a new plane on to pick you up. So we had news crews interviewing us about the emergency landing and finally the other flight of this airline for the day landed to pick us up - now landing at an airport that you have no agreement with (again, little airlines only have cooperation agreements with very few airports) is a major problem so this took another hour to work out to let that plane come to the terminal to get us - they actually had to tell ius their lawyers were involved. When we loaded on, the other passengers who thought they had a direct flight down were none too pleased with us - as if it was our freakin fault.

So after all this mayhem, we get into Sanford at 2 am - originally scheduled for a noon arrival time. I guess we just damn lucky we got in at all.

Therefore, our car rental companies were closed and would not open until 9 am the next morning, there were no taxis, and the airport was closed. Therefore we were facing sleeping on the curb - and I kid you not, they locked the doors and kicked us out of the airport with no help getting us to anywhere.

My husband was off desperately trying to call limo services or taxi companies to no avail (cell service was wicked spotty too) when one of our fellow passengers came by in their minivan and asked if they could give us a ride somewhere.

Holy angels!!!!! They drove us 5 miles to the nearest hotel and thank God we could get a room because it was only a few days before Daytona 500. So we paid for that room and our room in Disney and had to stick around the next morning until 10 am because the damn rental company said they'd open at 9 but they forgot to tell us that the guy who ran the franchise liked to stop for coffee, some breakfast and would make it in when he could. :guilty:

This is the reason I will never, never, again fly a small airline into Sanford - and especially if I am travelling with small children. It is so not worth it.

I hope tons of people do use Allegiant because we need it to stay here and help us economically as a city, but you probably won't find me on it. Southwest for me, baby!

Hey Lewski, quick question... DID NCBELLE get the community Refillable mug from you before she left???:earseek: :earseek:

Just kidding, and for those who were not around last year, there were 2 big running jokes, 1 was the community refillable mug- something to the effect of did you need to buy a second one for 50 guests at a wedding reception. The other was that Lewsky was Preggers. It seemed every time someone had big news the first guess was that Lewsky was Pregnant. I don't remember how it started, It stopped when she started geting really annoyed with it... but when she got her little surprize I know I was VERY HAPPY FOR her; even though she was not trying and emphatically denied being pregnant. I guess it was a foreshaddow... Gollee Gee, That Tag Meet was sooo much fun; I wish we could meet again...

CG, SW Air just announced earnings of $0.28 a share profit
Yuck!!! what a story

:( So sorry about your father, I can't imagine how hard it must have been for you......and what a great poem....thanks for sharing it with us

castlegazer You definitely have me beat, girlfriend! So I'll be adding Allegiant to my list of never-agains...or with them, just never!

Lewski How's that little bun in the oven doing?

geffric I'm so very sorry to hear about your dad. :( Even though he's been ill for some time, I know that doesn't make it any easier for you to bear. Please know all our prayers, thoughts, and best wishes are with you and your family! :grouphug: :(

well, it was Pan Am that did that little number on us - and yeah, NEVER fly them! They use the old Eastern Airline planes and they do not keep them up - I dealt with the owner of the airline through his railroad business when I worked in the legislature and he took money from the state for repairs to his tracks and never used it as such and to this day he has derailments almost monthly so I should have known that something like this would happen on his airline. Allegiant on the other hand does have a pretty good track record - but its the Sanford thing that has me shaking my head and saying, NO WAY JOSE. Little airlines don't have backup plans and this airport doesn't lend itself to delays which inevitably will happen.

Yeah, except waiting for them to release dates for reservations - now that stinks!

cadsmom - you already sent your sympathies to me for my Dad passing away - I was posting at the time - it was about two years ago now - December 2003. But thanks - you all were very nice during that time and I enjoyed coming back and talking every once in a while when I got the chance. Its one of the reason I am still here. You don't forget the people who were there to support you during a time like that.

I feel like llebrekniT when I control a whole page for posting - but ooo, ooooo, ooooo, did you guys notice the new WDW TV ad???????

- they use the term "castlegazer". I was blown away. I have had this screen name for so long now and been to many DIS meets where everyone calls you by your screenname that it was like hearing my own name called out. It says, "for all you castlegazers out there". HOLY COW! I know Disney reads the boards, but that is just weird. I had never heard the term before I made it up as a screen name - I did it because I castle gaze at other people's riches - meaning I broker gigantic real estate deals and watch everyone buying that bigger yacht or that bigger mansion with the proceeds of these deals - plus I thought it worked well with the whole castle thing since that is my favorite part of Dsiney World.

Have you guys heard that term before? When I google it, all that comes up is me - over and over again.
