moving to virginia

We are being corporately relocated to Harrisonburg, Virginia from New Jersey. Works well for our trips to WDW because we usually take the autotrain, we are going in August again and staying at our home resort BWV.
Anyone live in the Harrisonburg area that have any tips for good food and entertainment for this yankee.

My sister lives in Lexington, Va. about an hour from Harrisonburg. I know she shops at the Costco in Harrisonburg. I can ask her what she know about the area. Good luck with your move.

I live about 30 minutes south of Harrisonburg. I'm not sure about entertainment. It's a pretty quiet area. If you like the outdoors there are a lot of nice places to see. You're near the Skyline Drive and not too far from the Blue Ridge Parkway. Its beautiful here in the fall. You're only a few hours from northern Virginia if you want more entertainment options.

JMU probably has some musical events and plays and such during the school year, as well as their athletic events. They have the normal chain type restaurants, but not the ones you might find in bigger cities such as the Cheesecake Factory or Maggianos.

If you like buffet type restaurants the best one is Wood Grille Buffet. The best ice cream is at Kline's Dairy Bar. I don't eat in Harrisonburg often so I'm not sure about other non chain restaurants.

I do like going to the Dayton Farmers Market. It's kind of unique. It's about 5 miles or so south of Harrisonburg on route 42.
