The CM I talked to about moving our stuff from the AllStars to the Contemporary for the last night of our stay made it sound so easy: You pack, you call, you go to the parks, you go home to the new resort, check in, go to your room, and voila! Your bags are there! Is it really this easy and efficient?

And one clarification would be appreciated: Do we leave the bags in the room or take them down to bell service? We are probably going to try to make early entry to AK.

Thanks!

Hi we are just back from a 3day stay at the Yacht Club and 4 days at the Poly. We called bell service at the Yacht club and the picked up our bags at 7:40 am. We checked in at the Poly about 3:20 and no bags. bags arrived at 3:40. BUT!! they were short one suitecase that had all the importent stuff in it. Could not find the suitcase at the Yacht club so they had to back track to drop off at every hotel they had made drops too. Bag was located and returned to us about 4:30. What was alittle upsetting was that the tag the Poly recieved clearly said 7 bags but they never bothered to read and delivered six and did not know one was even missing till we told them. Kinda makes you wonder why we filled all the info for the transfer out if no one was evver going to read it. That was just our experience. Next Time will take a taxi to the other hotel with our bags. The $7.00 dollars would be worth not worrying.

we have transferred out luggage many times and have never had a problem. but i do agree if you would rather take a taxi and transfer it yourself then by all means do so. good luck!

When you leave the All-Stars, Luggage Assistance will come to your room, pick up your bags, and transfer them to the Contemporary. You do not need to be in your room with "Luggage Assistance." Just give them a call either the night before, or at least an hour prior to checking out of the All-Stars.

The next part, I'm a little shaky on... still learning resort operations. From what I am to understand, you must be in your room for "Bell Services" to deliver (and pick up) your luggage. So when you arrive at the Contemporary, and check in, you might need to give Bell Services a call to bring up your luggage to your new room. (Front Desk might do it for you)

Because it's a room transfer, they might drop it off in your room, but from what I've been told so far, that might not be the case. Double check with them when you get there to be sure.

We've done this every trip -- smoothly and easily! Never a problem. You pack up (which you would have to do anyhow) and call the night before (or that am). You do NOT have to be in the room to send yuour luggage over.

Then when you arrive and check in to your next hotel, you have to go to bell serivces and request them to send your stuff to your new room. Not a big deal. They send it over "shortly." You cold end up without your stuff for a short period of time -- but it's always been reasoanble, in my opinion. I don't recall having to be in the room to have the items delivered to the room, but I could be wrong.

I'm sure mistakes happen - but I think they are not the norm.

HTH! Good luck & Enjoy!!

We did this in May with no problems... we had our bags picked up at CBR and when we arrived at AKL in the afternoon, they made it there with no problems :) If you're really worried, you could always call a cab and take the bags over to the hotel yourself :)

Thanks for the input! I'm much less worried! I think I will take out anything important, like medicine "just in case," but am expecting smooth sailing!

I do think the leave the bags at Bell Services at the second hotel until you check in. I'm not sure if this is so the bellhop is assured a tip, or so they don't accidently stick someone else in a room with your bags in it--a big oops!

Does anyone know if this works between All stars And the Dolphin? Would they transfer our bags or would we have to?

I'm thinking of doing the same thing. I have read several accounts where the Swan/Dolphin will deliver luggage to a Disney resort, but only got one response saying that a Disney resort will deliver to S/D, and that wasn't from a value resort. I would call the AllStars and ask them since you are moving to a non-Disney resort.

It's the first reason. Bell Services people work for tips. That is thier income. This is why you need to be in your room for them to pick up or drop off your luggage.

"Luggage Assistance" which can be found at the Value Resorts, can be dropped off or picked up without anyone being in the room, because they don't work for tips.

FWIW, luggage transfer experiences can vary widely. My most recent experience was with a room change at ASMu last week. I left my suitcase in the old room as I was told by the front desk when I left at 8:00 am that morning. When I came back to my new room at 6:00 pm to change for a night at DTD, there was no suitcase. I had to call the front desk to track it down and get it delivered. Once I called, I had it within ten minutes.

Ten hours to get it moved from one room to another in the same resort may not be the norm but it can and does happen. And this is when the same "luggage assistance" staff had control over it the entire time.
