Movies That Make You Weep

Marley and Me

I read the whole first page thinking, "What? No Marley and Me?"
Up of course, and I don't think I saw
Terms of Endearment listed.

Toy Story 3! I wish I would have been alone in my house when I saw it instead of uncontrollably sobbing in the theatre.

Up (first 30 minutes anyway!)
Dumbo (I think it scarred me for life)
E.T.
Steel Magnolias
Toy Story 3...I'm with PP, I did the "ugly cry", especially since we were just getting ready for our DS to graduate high school and go off to college. See, I'm starting to tear up as I type this!

8 Seconds--when Tuff rides an extra 8 seconds for Lane. Only one of two movies that I have ever seen to make dh cry.

Father of the Bride--not sure if its 1 or 2 but Steve Martin starts seeing flashbacks of his dd as a little girl. One of the pictures looks just like dd. This is the other one that makes dh cry too.

Harry Potter 7th movie--when the owl dies and in 8 when one of the twins die

The last Twilight--unexpected deaths.

(had read both series and felt "attached" to the characters. And I cry in any movie where a pet dies, so the owl gets me every time. I cried at that point in the book too.)

Steele Magnolias

And I am sure countless others. I cry a lot in movies.

Father of the Bride is my favourite movie and I cry at so many points in that: When Steve Martin at the beginning says "At some point you stop worrying about her meeting the wrong guy, and you start to worry about her meeting the RIGHT guy...because then you lose her". And when they are playing basketball and it starts to snow and Annie asks him if he's thinking about how its going to cost him more money, and he says "I'm just thinking how I'll never forget this moment for as long as I live". Oh and in Part 2 when the women are in labour, he says to the Dr "These women are my life".

Ironically, Steve Martin has no children in real life.

Marley and Me, I can cry just thinking about it. Can't watch it anymore since we acquired out own pup who looks just like Marley. Worst line is "You let me know when you're ready". My fiance and I watched this movie when we were first dating, and we both tried to hide from each other the tears streaming down our cheeks, but it was no use.

there's too many to list, I'm a crier! Off the top of my head...

Steel Magnolias, the funeral scene makes me sob that painful, ugly face cry

Toy Story 3 - my DS(17) was a huge fan of the toy story movies growing up, he had Buzz and Woody everything. Every time he watched the movies he had to assemble his toys on the couch with him, he had slinky dog, rex, the whole gang. He's getting ready to head off to college just like Andy. I was a mess through the whole movie. I saved his Woody doll and plan on sneaking it into a box of his when he goes off to college in the fall :( I know DH will stop me so DS' roomate won't think he's looney tunes but I thought it was funny.

I can cry at almost anything.

Really deeply moved by Philadelphia-blown away by Tom hanks.
As I was in toy story 3 also-weeped uncontrollably.
Up actually made my Dh choke,he had to leave the theatre and compose himself in the bathroom.

Recently, about time broke my heart-especially as I was with mil and Dh-and fil no longer with us.

The Lion King-- when Simba finds Mufasa dead and goes under his paw and says "Wake up, Dad!" Have to fast forward that or I sob. When they re-released it in 3D, I was a mess in the theater.
Toy Story 3
The end of Love Actually
Babe

too many to list all of them but stepmom immediately comes to mind

off the top of my head-only the lonely, how green was my valley, heart and souls, chaplin, the great dictator, Lorenzo's oil, brian's song (original), awakenings, and mask.

Can I just try to list the movies that I actually DON'T cry in? That would be much shorter. :rotfl2: I am a big cry baby!

Anyway - here's a short list.

I absolutely REFUSE to watch Marley and Me or any such movie that an animal dies, period. I have a yellow lab myself so that's a no go for me.
I am way too sensitive to animals - so I don't even attempt it. Same goes for hunting shows - thankfully DH watches them when I'm not around. :(

I think one of the worst ones for me was The Passion. I had no idea I would be such a mess.
OMG...:faint: heaving sobs in the theater that were just out of control. I had the worst headache ever after watching that one, but thankfully I wasn't alone, everyone around me was crying too.

The first time I watched Titanic I sobbed when the mother was putting her little ones to bed, saying prayers, with the water coming up around them. Completely lost it.

I don't think I even took a break during What Dreams May Come...just started crying early on and never stopped. :rotfl:

The Notebook - of course.

The Help - when Skeeter finds out about Constantine and says "you broke her heart" - DONE. Watched it last night and thought for sure I'd make it through without tears eventually. Nope, last night wasn't the night either! :worried:

I could go on and on...happy cry, sad cry, etc...I'm a bawl bag!

Brokeback Mountain
Pleasantville
Peggy sue Got Married
The King and I
Close Encounters of the Third Kind

Sophie's Choice. Oh, my God. I sobbed when she had to make the choice between which of her children to give to the Nazis, right there on the train platform. When she said "take my little girl!" I was a mess.

And then there's Peggy Sue Got Married. Not a sad film, but when Peggy has gone back in time to her teenage years and casually picks up the ringing phone in her house to find that it's her grandmother (who had been dead a long time in her future) calling, I just cry my eyes out at her reaction.

Sophies Choice I watched it once and will never watch it again!! The scene described above is the reason....

I'm not really a crier, but I did tear up last night when I watched Captain Phillips. It was the last scene when he's in the navy sickbay and he is so emotionally spent and can't even speak. It just really got to me.
I also haven't seen The Green Mile mentioned. That is a really emotional movie too.

Stepmom
Marley and me
The Notebook
Steel Magnolias
