Disney has issues with their Roger Rabbit rights because they really only own part of it...

They should put in:

Captain Jack Sparrow and his Black Pearl.

Titanic with Jack and Rose on the bow of the boat.

As far as having them be MGM films, I don't think that it is a prerequisite any more as the theme park is no longer called MGM, but instead Disney Hollywood Studios.

I think that the Great Movie Ride needs a major upgrade to go with the times. Keep a few of the classics, but there are empty spots that could be filled.

The end sequence with all of the films needs to be updated as well.

I want to say that there are movies from most of the studios except for Universal. But I'm not positive. I don't think MGM and Disney are the only two studios represented.

I would agree with Titanic, but not with POTC. They've already put the movies into the ride, so I don't feel a need to have it in another.

What about the Lion King, in a similar way they do the Fantasia scene. It could be the beginning scene where Simba is shown to the crowd of animals.

The end sequence with all of the films needs to be updated as well.

They updated that sequence a few years ago for the first time since it opened in 1989. I don't think they're going to update it again anytime soon.

i am fifty thousand percent against potc having anything to do with the great movie ride. it has its own ride already.

I agree with a bunch of you on POTC... I really like the movies, but there is the ride in MK... I don't really think that they need another ride... but it would be really cool... Toy Story and Lion King are good ideas, too...

I'm not sure if any of the movies on the poll would quite fit. If I HAD to choose one, I guess I'd go with Titanic.

(my opinion)
not really look at the poll i have TITANIC, let me say it one more time TITANIC. One of the most money making and well done film in our history of film making.

Ok picture your self on the great movie ride with a 6 year old boy and a 9 year old girl (reminder, disney main goal is to entertain kids) and then you pass the casablanca part of the ride. It is really hard to believe the two kids are going to be standing up and screaming "OMG it is Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman, this was the best part of our $500 vacation after the ride forget watching the fireworks let go the Hall of president!!!!!!!"

The great movie ride needs a major update no question and they need to put in films that are at lest from this past decade. I am not saying to get rid of all the classic films but at lest have two films that a six and nine year old can relate some what relate to. I really hate twilght and transformers but I would rather see a movie that i hate, that has a large popularity and might be remembered in ten years from now then some of the films that not even my 60 year old dad knows about. You know you need an update when a 50 year does not even know the film they are showing.
Please if anyone thinks of a film that came out the passed decade that needs to be on that poll tell me.
NO. Disney wanted to make a good FAMILY park. As in, entertaining for everyone. My 5 year old cousin absolutely loved GMR, as do I, as do my parents.

GMR does not need an update. It is called the GREAT Movie Ride for a reason, and most of the films in that poll are not GREAT. GMR is a classic tour through some of the greatest movies ever made, and Twilight or whatever do not belong there.

I honestly think it's sad that your dad doesn't know of Casablanca, Footlight Parade, or The Public Enemy. Those are classic films that most people know of and are very popular.

GMR uses their film montague at the end to showcase some of the more modern, popular films such as POTC.

Twilight may be popular now, but trust me, it's just a phase. The movie itself is poorly made and will fizzle out sooner rather than later.

I just hate it when people feel the need to change something classic and magnificent to fit the wants of teenagers.

I say Titanic since it was a a hit movie.

.

I agree.
They're not going to change a ride to appeal to teenagers, with a phase, are they?
Disney have more sense than that.

OK EVERYONE CHILL OUT let me explain how i made the poll and what does it prove, then you can stop screaming at why transformers and twilight are on the list.

OK so i was looking at the worst ride in WDW thread and a lot of people said the great movie ride needs an update. so i was thinking if disney was going to put one movie from this decade in GMR what would it be? so i looked at the most money making films of the past year and put them on (twilight, transformers, harry potter, avatar, the hangover) Then i put the top rated films of the decade that would fit pretty good in GMR (POTC, the lord of the rings, the dark knight, the notebook, titanic, all Pixar films, and any best picture winners of the decade.)and see what people would vote for, the top money making films or the good films that could fit in the GMR.
The results show that 40% chose the money making films and and 60% choose the well done films that could have a fit in the GMR.(i did not include the last choice on the poll for the percentage because that was there just for fun)
This poll now proves that no one wants transformers or twilight in the great movie ride even if it does make box office records and haves a large popularity we rather see a well done movie of this decade in the GMR.

I am sorry, i will never write twilight and the GMR on the same thread for the rest of my life.

Dont worry about it. Its just a topic of disscussion. i would personaly SCREAM OUT OF HORROR if Twilight was added to GMR, but some people would be happy. Up ahead someone said Sound Of Music. That would be a cool addition. Its very classic and fits the atmosphere. But I wouldn't want to change it. It should stay just as is :goodvibes

If Twilight gets added I'd have to cry.

But Titanic is an excellent idea. So is Avatar.

I wouldn't like if Avatar was selected its too new, not classic enough. Titanic would be good though

I get the feeling it'll reach classic status, probably Avatar and Inglorious Basterds are the only two movies of '09 that will stay popular.

You have to admit, it was an extremely awesome movie. And wasn't it directed by the same person who directed Titanic? (I'm talking about avatar, not inglorious basterds, even though that was amazing too)

I haven't seen it but it does look pretty cool. Not in a ' this will be cool for a month and then when it comes out on dvd but not ever again' kind of way. Like classic-y. But I wouldn't suggest it for GMR

avatar and titanic are directed by the same man. while i think they could make a beautiful set out of pandora for the car to ride through, and maybe have jake sully riding the last shadow out in the distance, i'm just afraid that maybe Avatar WON'T become a classic. kwim? and in twenty years, people wouldn't see it the same way we see Wizard of Oz or caseblanca. :confused3

i think if they were to add it, they would need to wait several years after its release to see how its being viewed then.
