We're currently booked w/ room only reservations thru Disney....we have a GF AAA rate, which is a really great rate. We're traveling w/ my parents...they don't want to do the dining plan, but my husband and I (w/ DS2) think it would be a good deal for us. We're in 2 separate rooms BTW and have 2 linked reservations.

Should we move our entire party's reservation to AAA, where they can change just my family's package to MYW plus dining? Is there a risk that we would lose our great room and rate if we did this? Anyone done this before?

Does this make sense?

My family is booked with AAA for our upcoming trip (in 8 days). We received a great discount on our packaged deal which includes the DDP. Personally I highly recommend the DDP if you would like to eat a TS restaurants. Even if you have ADR with your parents who are not on the DDP there is no problem. Personally I would make the switch.

If you want the DDP and the AAA rate, you'll have to contact an AAA agent directly. I would first do that and find out if the AAA agent can transfer things for you--make sure you talk to someone at AAA before you cancel anything with CRO. The number of rooms at the AAA rate are limited.

Technically you can't make a room only a package- you would be canceling the room only and booking a package- they'll refund your original deposit and you'll pay the $200 package deposit. What I would do is have the AAA agent at least put the package on hold first and make sure you get the hotel you want- then cancel your room only.
