Mousesavers reporting a huge deal for first half of 2009 coming tomorrow!

how are you running numbers to see if the 4 day/3 nights free is a good deal.
The easiest way would be to get a price quote for a 4-night stay during your dates at www.disneyworld.com---include exactly the ticket options you would normally get (hoppping or not, water park or not), but for 4 days.

That's roughly the price you would pay at that resort for a 7-night stay with 7-day tickets. There might be some tomfoolery with weekend vs. weekday nights, but it's going to be in the ballpark.

Man I may have to work late tonight so I don't miss the announcement. So when they say 5:00 is that central time?

I'm just hoping this will be useful for a room-only ressie because I really don't need more 1-day tickets floating around anymore.

I still have 2 from the last free dining vacation I took.

As far as I know, the only discount expected today is on a vacation package. Maybe room only rates for the general public will come out later, but who knows.

Is it a discount on the complete package with dining (i.e- pay the full price for 4 nights) or is it a discount on the extra 3 days for the room/tix + the full price for dining all 7 nights

For us, that would be a deal breaker.

Okay guy and gals,

We all know that we are all worked up and excited about the HUGE promo. I know that the speculation is that the promo will be stay four nights and get three nights free. And some people might get a $200.00 gift card.

Now, all that being said and keeping in mind that it's all just speculation, how are you running numbers to see if the 4 day/3 nights free is a good deal.

Keep in mind this question comes from someone who absolutely positively HATES math.

Are you just figuring the cost of the room or are you adding in dining and tickets?

Ok let's see....here's what I did. I have CR MK view with tickets and Deluxe Dining. (with an AP rate)....so I am comparing my numbers to the amount I have already.

First...price out what you want, your whole packaged, at the disney website for 7 nights.

Then price the same thing for 4 nights.

Now if you had included dining remember to add on 3 more days of dining to the 4 nights. (in the event no dining is included in the FREE part). So say you had 2 adults....take the dining cost times 2 people times 3 nights...and add that amount to the 4 nights. It might be slightly off cause of tax on that part but you will get a good idea.

Then subtract your 4 night cost from your 7 night cost and that's your savings.

Hope I didn't confuse you more!

Okay, let me go try that. My only problem is we are actually staying 10 days/9 nights.

I am soooo confused!

:thumbsup2 That's exactly what I did, and it saves us at least $1000 over our 10% discount with AAA.

Can somebody tell me what the deal is rumored to be? I've spent 15 minutes reading this thread and can't figure it out? I get that it is a stay 4 nights, get 3 free. Is this with tickets? Dining? What?:confused3

It's my understanding that you can change a room-only reservation to a package.

Does anyone know if we book a package and decide we want room-only, can we undo the package and just keep the room? Or do we have to cancel entirely and hope a room opens up?

Ok let's go on 4 paid 3 free nights theory of the deal.

For 9 nights....either way you'd get 3 nights free....so 9-3 is 6 nights that you would be paying for, for a 9 night package. (don't forget to add in dining cost if you are getting dining for those 3 extra nights).

If you don't run the numbers, Disney will make you *think* it is a better deal than it is. It is the same with the Dining plan. They always tell me it is a great deal, but for our family, it ISN'T a good deal at all.

Being able to say buy 4 days get 3 days free sounds to the uneducated WDW consumer like a GREAT deal and honestly that is who they try to attract with these promos. DISboards folks are probably going to go anyway it's just got to be great sounding to those not so in the know who would never guess the ticket difference is $9.

Yes you can change it, but you'd have to give a new deposit becaue they would issue you a new reservation. (one night for room only, $200 for package). They will do it all on the phone for you in one shot.

I agree with this statement..Disney is perhaps trying to attract first timers....any time a business states something is FREE...lol...figure out how free it is! lol

IF this is the package offer, I hope many here can use it:) It wont work for me though...will hope for a room discount or AP for the end of Feb!

I read on another board you will be able to book 4/3 8/5 9/6 10/7 max will be 10

On the ticket end it's not a great deal at all. And like anything else the more the cost of the room....the greater the savings. Alot has to be factor in for each person to see if it's a good deal for them..but like you said to the average non-disboard person....they see (3 days FREE), they aren't informed of other discounts out there....and will automatically assume it's the best deal out there.

I just booked for 7 nights at the Pop for the end of January. I added the Dining Plan and 7 day Park Hopper Passes. The CM told me (he had to wait until after I paid the deposit) to call back tonight and they will have a code for 3 nights and park passes free (with the purchase of 7). I haven't read the whole thread, so maybe some one else already posted what the deal is, but just in case here it is again:

Book a 7 night package and get 3 of the nights and 3 of the park pass days free. 7 for the price of 4.

Since it doesn't include dining, I'm going to cancel that part of the ressie. I might upgrade to an AP. In that case he said I would get the price of a 3-day park pass off the price of the AP.

I bet the giftcard will have the same rules as the Birthday gift card special...that is no dining or food and can't be used for hotel stays either, only merchandise at select locations. Just a guess but that's what I'm thinking.

In Dec. 2007 we received a dining card with the AP offer. I bet it's just for WDW property.
