Sorry guys, I know there is a thread on this but I couldn't find it.
How much should we leave as a tip each day and where should we leave it. Should we leave it daily. In the past we have left a tip at the end of our trip, but I get the jist that a daily tip is best.

Hello!

From what I have read before, leave $1 per day per person.

If there are 5 people staying in a room, leave $5.00.

Also, leave it daily, the maid may be different everyday.

I have no idea where to leave it. This will be our first time staying "IN" WDW. So, I am not sure where to put it!
Maybe someone else can answer that one!

Have a great trip!

I left it daily between the sinks. Mousekeeping was very greatful and thank me one night as we passed.

We left our tips each day on bathroom sink with little thank-you notes I pre-made....that way, there was no confusion as to where the money goes.
I will say, though, that I reserved the tip money one day ( and added a little more), for the wonderful housekeeping at night. They also do a very nice job.
Have a wonderful time !
Coronado should be awesome !

MAREEMOUSE,

WHAT DO YOU MEAN NIGHT HOUSEKEEPING?
I JUST THOUGHT ABOUT THE PEOPLE THAT CLEAN OUR ROOM.

WE HAVE NOT STAYED ON SITE BEFORE, AND I DO NOT WANT TO SLIGHT ANYONE.

THANKS FOR THE INFO!
LISAJL

Guess that was probably cause where we stayed once, they had turn down service. Sorry to have confused you......You'll be fine !
Don't worry, have fun, and enjoy.....wow .....wish we were all headin there !

Hi RedShorts,

Just so you know Housekeeping is not a tipped position at WDW so will get some responses telling you not to tip at all. My view is that tipping is a personal choice but that if you are going to tip I would suggest the following.

$1 per person in the room per day(you might not have the same housekeeper everyday.)

We put it in an envelope infront of the TV with the word Housekeeping written on it.

I know the information tells you Mousekeeping is not a tipped position, but IMO, they have a hard job too, just as a bellhop, valet, server, etc, has, if not worse. Just like a server, in mousekeeping - you have to clean up after everyone! yeah, bringing luggage to a room is heavy and hard work too, but if a room is dirty or not made up, mousekeeping gets the brunt of the complaints.

I had printed up envelopes with clip art from Heidi's website and left it on the phone. I left $2.00 a day for the two of us... We didn't make a mess, but it was nice to come back to a nicely made bed. And to help the environment, we used the towels 2 days in a row, so she didn't have to refill us daily. Every little thing helps.

Now that is a good question worthy of its own site.

Where do YOU place your tip for Mousekeeping?

We always leave it on the top of the television.

As far as tipping goes at WDW......We offered a tip to the lady who did the face painting on our son and she said that she was not allowed to accept a tip. Who knows????

We have never stayed at CS but one of our bus drivers on our recent Thanksgiving trip informed us that if we wanted a good Mexican dinner that CS was a great place to go. Has anyone ever eaten there and how was it? Authentic? Tex-Mex?

I couldn't reach the top of the television, at least not the tv's at the Polynesian, that's why I left it on the phone.

Some people leave it on the pillows or in the bathroom on the vanity. Our pillows were all piled up on top of each other, so I figured the phone would be the best central place.

Jeanny...

What is this "Heidi's" web site you mentioned? I would love to pre-print envelopes so there is no confusion as to who the tip is for..

thanks so much

There are two in my party and we left $3 everyday in a little envelope that said "Thank you Mousekeeping" on the nightstand. I felt chinky leaving only $2, even though I throw everything away and pick up everything off the floor myself and all they have to do is change out the sheets.

on our trip in 2000 our dd had figment with us, our housekeeper always had him in a funny pose when we returned to our room(ordering pizza on the phone, watching tv with remote in hand, etc.) so we left the envelopes with tip that we had prepared in advance in figments arms each day:D we marked the envelopes with housekeeping so she would know to take them. this was at asmovies.
in 2002 we stayed at csr and brought figment along again, and left the envelopes once again in his arms, but housekeeping never did put him in funny poses this trip. they did make us some funny washcloth ducks though, and our room was always spotless, and we did get thankyou notes .
