Motor Coach versus Shuttle Van

I'm not sure, since I've never taken the bus, but I wanted to mention that we reserve an exclusive supershuttle, meaning it's reserved only for our family and we don't have to share. For 4 or more in a group, it's worth it IMO. You know there won't be any other stops! It's $47 each way and you can take a party of up to 9. The regular shared shuttle is $10/pp each way so it's only slightly more for a family of 4. We're a family of 5 so it's actually cheaper. I reserve and pay ahead so we don't have to hassle with it later. I do have the hotel call to confirm the return while we're there.

I would say it depends were you are staying. We are staying at the GC and are taking the Disney Express to the hotel. It goes to other Anaheim hotels too but it goes to the Disney ones first, so for us, it's perfect! Plus, we get to watch TV on the way and if we need to use the restroom (I have a 3 year old) the bus has a bathroom!

We're staying at Park Vue on Harbor, arriving at 1:30pm, so hopefully there won't be a ton of stops before our hotel.
We did Super Shuttle last year and I wasn't very happy with all of the other stops, or the driver's driving.
We will try the DL Express this year becuz I don't want to schlep booster seats.
Also I think my kids will really enjoy riding a bus with characters all over it and watching the videos.

Does the DL Express have a website? I would like to look into this.

We have always had good luck with the van shuttle because they haven't made a ton of stops but a bus that goes to GC first would be awesome and I wouldn't need to bring a carseat for the kids.

I read somewhere, I think Mousesavers, that if you have more than 4 people in your party it makes the most sense to get a taxi or taxi van. $40 including tip with the flat rate? No reservations, just find a taxi ready to go. Anybody do this?

Thanks for the feedback!

There will only be two of us. So, I'm thinking maybe just go with the Shuttle.

We have used DL express twice in the last 6 months and it is great. It was on time, speedy and no problems. DS even had to use the bathroom and it was clean.
First time we were at DL hotel and it was their first stop. Second time was at the Tropicana and I think we had three stops before us. Keep in mind it was off season and there was maybe 20 people on the bus total.
We will be using it again in Sept.

If you time it just right, the bus might be as quick, but you may have to wait much longer for a bus. I think they only leave every 1/2 hour or so while the shuttles leave as soon as they fill up (more like every 10 minutes during peak travel periods). It's been awhile since I've taken the bus, and from LAX it was painful. It stopped in Buena Park for around 20 minutes (does it still do that?) and it had a broken skylight/window that was letting too much cold air in. I once had a shuttle from LAX that dropped off someone in a residential area of Anaheim before going to the hotels, so it took awhile as well (These are some of the reasons I try to fly into John Wayne). Still, I tend to prefer the shuttle when there are just 2 of us.

I split a taxi with another couple from DLH back to John Wayne, and that was great. I think it cost $36 + tip for the 4 of us, so it was a little cheaper and faster than the shuttle. That was a couple of years ago, so a flat $40 sounds about right. The taxi wouldn't fit more than 4 though; I don't know about the taxi vans.

Sorry, double post; ignore please

I can only speak for our two trips and the DL express was easy as pie from LAX and there were no stops except for hotels.

Godalejunior, I have a question: When you took the DL Express, did you have to get off the bus at the DL hotel to transfer to smaller busses for your destination? I think that is what some are saying. We are staying at the GC and if that is the case, would it be easier and quicker for me to get off the bus at the DDL Hotel and cross the street with our luggage to the GC?

What do you guys think???:confused3

godalejunior-
what time of day did you take the DL Express?
We're going at the end of Sept too, and I really want them to be good and wonderful.
After reading all of the negatives on the thread I posted above, I'm nervous about using them.
Have they changed ownership recently?
Thanks.

I remember reading a post from someone on another board planning to do this same thing; I wish I could remember where so that I could post a link to it.

That sounds like a good idea to me, Black. :thumbsup2

We never had to transfer buses or get off at any hotels. The first stop from LAX was DL Hotel, and then we went to GC. We did not have anyone on the bus for PP so not sure if they would be second or third stop.

We flew into LAX on a weekday at 12:30 p.m. the first trip in Jan. and in May we flew in at the same time on a Thursday.

Both times the bus was on time at LAX and on pickup in the morning when we headed back to LAX. When we stayed at the Tropicana the bus picked us up in front of BWPPI and we headed to DL hotel. We did not have to change buses on the way back to the airport either.

In September we will be flying in on a Thursday later afternoon and will be staying at BWPPI or a resort hotel if we can get a good AP deal.
