I'm a major thrill ride wimp due to motion sickness. It seems to be coaster-like motion that bothers me more than jerkiness though. I didn't have any problems with the Hanna Barbera ride that used to be at Universal if anyone remembers that. I won't ride Splash Mountain, BTMRR, Space Mountain, or Body Wars. I can handle a little jerkiness, but drops and coaster-like movements bother me. Do you think I could handle Dinosaur?

i love the dino ride!!! it is VERY jerky. you bounce all over but you dont go to fast and there are any real hills. just very, very, very, jerky

I get motion sick very easy and can not do Tea Cups, Body Wars, Star Tours. I can do a coaster here and there but can be pretty nauseous afterwards, depending on how log the ride is and how many loops there are. Dinosaur affects me similar to coasters. I can do it and I like it but when I get off I can be somewhat nauseous. It really has no big hills. There is a small, maybe 10 foot hill toward the end but you don't go down it really fast.

Thanks! Anyone else have any thoughts? :)

I am SO glad you asked this question . . . . I have always been afraid to try this because of my own problems with motion sickness. I can handle TOT (but only once) and BTMRR with no problems but Star Tours, Body Wars & Space Mtn are out-of-the-question.

I've used the chicken exit at Dinosaur more times than I care to admit, but now I'm thinkin' that I may be skipping something that I could do without too many problems afterwards.

So there are NO sharp turns or quick dips, right??

Think of it as you are in a real Jeep that is driving an obstical course inside of a building. The obstical course is coverd with ruts and lumps and rocks so you bounce around and careen around corners.
I to, can only ride ToT once. I can not ride a coaster or anything similar for an hour or so after wards. I feel about the same getting off of Dinosaur as I do when I exit ToT.

I get sick on lots of ride. Can't do BTMRR, Space Mt (tried both and got very dizzy). I don't even attempt to do Star Tours or Body Wars or RnRC. I can do Test Track at least once a day. I can do ToT once a day. I can do Splash Mt. I can do Dinosaur at least once a day. It is a bit jerky, but not too bad. It's pretty dark in there, so it's hard to see the horizon bob around. If you sit toward the middle of the car, you won't jerk quite so much.

I did the Disney Cruise only because I wore a patch for the entire trip. I got very ill on a ferry boat from Victoria BC to Port Angeles, WA. The patch didn't help on Space Mt.

I wouldn't do it without taking my Bonine first. It seems the older I get the more motion makes me sick. Since I started using Bonine I can ride anything!!

I was fine on Dinosaur. To put that into context (and hopefully make it meaningful as a reference):

Space Mountain - can do once, but makes me nauseated towards the end, but am fine by the time I exit and walk around

Rock N Roller Coaster - did once - never been so affected by any ride before. Really made me feel pretty bad for a few hours afterwards

BTMRR - can do no problems

Star Tours - will do once because I love Star Wars but i have to look away or close my eyes at times (the longer it goes the worse I am) but I am usually fine by the time I exit and start walking around a bit

Body Wars - gets me and since I don't really care about the theming, I don't ride this one

Test track - no problems - I love this ride!

Tower of terror - loved this! Up and down I can do, plus it's a fairly short ride - it's loopy stuff in the dark or simulators that get me.

Dinosaur is very similar to the Indiana Jones ride in DisneyLand and we did that one back to back two or three times - this doesn't have as much of the sustained bouncing around as Body Wars or Star Tours, and it doesn't have the "roller coaster in the dark" fast loopy turns that seem to get me on Space Mtn and (whew!) RNR.

I tried Bonine on my second trip to MGM to see if I could ride RNR and enjoy it, but the medicine made me so drowsy that I didn't feel like I could ride because of that, so i have yet to try it again.

I've heard it's better if you don't sit in the front (we were in the first car) because you can see the cars ahead of you and it gives your body visual cues of what's coming so it can cope better. I might test this theory on our May trip  .

Hope that helps

My husband and son get motion sickness so they take dramamine, there is a non drowsy formulaas well as a children's formula. It seemed to work for them. I have even taken it on occassion. Husband can't do tea cups, or Dumbo without feeling icky. Dinosaur is just really jerky .

Body Wars and Star Tours do bother me a little (but I still go on them and then pay the price). However, Dinosaur is just a jerky ride and has nothing to really make me you feel ill. I loved Dinosaur and would go on it no matter what!

I get horribly nauseated on Astro Orbiter, Body Wars and Mad Tea Party. Dinosaur presented no problems for me, except that it is really jerky - and living in the northeast, I'm used to driving on potholed roads - almost the same thing. ;)

Can't do anything like Star Tours or Tea Cups either...

We're going in May, and my Dr. prescribed Meclizine(Bonine). Hope it works!

I have found that I am more prone to motion sickness the older I get. So far the only thing that I absolutely can't ride is Body Wars - but I can go fewer times in a row on my old favorites as the years go by.

There is enough open area and air in Dinosaur that its never been a problem for me. They toned it down a bit from when it was Coutdown to Extinction - I don't think its that much different than a bumpy Safari ride.
