DH sometimes get sick on rides that spin too much or have too much bouncing around (wuss! LOL - J/K)

A few weeks ago, he went on that ride in Six Flags where you are in a spinning cage and the force sticks you to the wall. It did him in for the rest of the day.

I was wondering if those sea sickness bands would work on whatever rides my cause motion sickness.

Any experience with them?

They didn't seem to help my husband. He's gotten much more motion sick in the last couple of years. Used to be that only VERY spinny rides would make him feel sick, and the sickness wouldn't last long. Now rides with just a little spin make him sick and it can take him a few hours to feel better. Yes, I think he's a wuss, too, and will certainly play it up, where as I'm the type to just deal with it and go about my day. lol We're planning a trip to WDW, just the 2 of us and I'm a little concerned that he won't want to do anything.

We've tried Bonine for motion sickness, but it made us VERY sleepy for 24 hours. It's not supposed to make a person sleepy, though, so maybe you DH cold try that.

:(

They didn't work for me when I was pregnant. I think there out to get people's money. My mother in-law bought them for me. I was sick for all 3 of my pregnancy's from the beginning to the end. Now my daughter gets sick from just going to the corner store in the van and we always give her a tablespoon of gravol when we travel and that works like a charm. Might want to give your husband some a hour before he goes and it might work wishingonastar. It didn't make her groggy at all and she is 4.

Any medication he takes makes him sleepy, so I think I won't go that route!

He's a big guy, but one Sudafed will knock him out all day!

Thanks for the help!

You must have posted the same time as me, Disneyof3.

gravol? Do you get in the pharmacy? Rite Aid maybe? It sounds like it might work.

They only work if you believe they will work. They are really just a "crutch".

THEY WORKED FOR MY SISTER DURING HER PREGNANCY. IT COULD JUST BE A MIND OVER MATTER THING THOUGH.

Dramamine (sp?) worked great for me! I get sick on fast rides, and also in the car for more than a 30 min ride w/out them. LAst summer at USF/ IOA, I did everything except for inverting rides, and didnt feel the least bit sick, or on the 4 hour car trips:)

I use BONINE also , I get sick in a stick-shift car I am so prone to motion sickness! Using this stuff I was fine on Mission Space, Teacups, even Body Wars! No drowsiness either. It is over the counter and chewable. You can find it at Walgreen's, Osco, any drug store. It calls for 2 tablets and I took 1 1/2 just in case it may have caused drowsiness. However, I ate a very light breakfast the day of riding MS, and we rode it very early. I also looked straight ahead during this ride, and not over at my kids or DH. They rode 4 times in a row...I was pretty content w/2.

Good Luck!

Pam

I don't know how much use they are at a theme park, but they weren't much help to me on the open ocean. We sailed a 38ft sail boat from Savannah to Newport News, then back out and north to Boston. I wore the bands and took Dramamine, and I was still very sickly the first two days of each leg of the trip.

If if means anything, the only ride that makes me sick at WDW is Body Wars. It's completely disgusting and I'll never ride it again.

The bands worked great for me...on a cruise ship.

What about non-drowsy dramamine...I tried that when we were at Universal so I could go on Spiderman. Worked great and I was very happy to finally experience that ride.

I get really travel sick and I find the travel bands work great for me. I always wear them when I go to theme parks and never get sick.

Thank you for all your help and suggestions! I think I'll buy a few products for him! :)

I want to ensure our vacation is problem-free (which of course, means I need to run around like a lunatic for 3 months prior to the trip! )

A friend of mine just got back from a cruise and they did not help her at all. Next time she said she will try one of the pills.

Our older DS gets car sick a lot so we got him "sea bands" and they have worked like a charm. The package does state that they won't work if not put on properly on both wrists. They are a cloth band with a plastic white ball that has to hit the right pressure point on the wrist.

My MIL & FIL sailed their sailboat across the Atlantic a year ago and wore a patch for sea sickness. They hit some rough seas and the patches worked wonderfully for them.

Heck, it's worth it to try just about anything :)!

I used Ginger root for about a week before Mission Space (I was worried about being sick) and I felt great. Of course I might have been one of those people that it didn't bother anyway.....
