OK, I'm a wimp. I didn't used to be bothered by motion sickness, but as I age, it is getting worse. I can ride the big coasters, but not multiple time in a row. I need a good break inbetween. Simulators seem to be the worst. I can't even say that I enjoy the ride, it's more the challenge of doing it with my boys.

I've tried dramamine, but by the afternoon, I'm too tired to enjoy the evening.

Anyone have any good motion sickness remedies that don't make you groggy?

We'll be at USF in ~2 weeks...can't wait.:cool1:
Thanks.

No help.. just sympathy here.. I am same way.. I wish I could ride all the rides with my kids.. but if I try the simpsons I will be sick for a few hours.. and no good to them. I can't do Jimmy N. either.. I have to sit in the still chairs, and I can't look at the screen too long or I will get sick..

I started using the sea bands, looks like little sweatbands, and I've had about the same amount of relief as the pills offer without the drowsiness.

Bonine offers good relief for my husband and I, but without that drowsiness. Works great.

hi one of us has to go on with my youngest who, although she is the one that gets car sick is ok on simulators (work that out)- it makes the rest of us very ill, I go on and shut my eyes before the start and do not open until the end- that works!!

However, I will say that I tried spiderman (someone else on here had said that its the onloy one then can do) and was ok (could not have gone straight back on but was better than I have ever been before on any other simulator- I cannot do star wars, bodywars, simpsons, jimmy neutron, 180 days or any others I have ever tried- and just avoid them all now. Infact body wars made me so sick I had to go back to hotel and lie down for several hours.

Another ride I cannot do (forgot and tried again this xmas- yuck) is Gwazi in busch gardens it just shakes toooo much for me. I am ok on all other coasters but dragons on IOA did leave me a bit dissy for a little while.

Good luck

Seabands worked for me too. I actually get sea sick and yet I worked on a small, rocky, cruise ship for 6 months. The bands are awesome since they work on accupressure, not meds.

I agree with the Bonine advice. I have started to become affected by motion of rides as I get a little older and take a Bonine in the morning and have no issues at all.

Aside from Bonine, there is also a Dramamine Less Drowsy formula. Ironically, it's the same exact medicine as in Bonine. I take either one when I fly or take cruises. I buy whichever I can find or is cheaper, if they have both. It might make you a little drowsy still (hence "less" drowsy not "non" drowsy), but much better than original Dramamine.

This past summer my DH and I tried ginger gum and ginger pills. My DH loves coasters but the sudden stop at the end makes him queasy. He'd start chewing the ginger gum before the ride and his stomach was fine! I found it at Rite Aid. I take the ginger pills before a long car ride or when I have to ride a school bus. It keeps my stomach calm. I found those at Walmart in the vitamin section.

I haven't tried the ginger on boats or flying, and I admit I'm kind of scared to because I've had such trouble with motion sickness in the past. I know dramamine works for me but I hate being tired. I got so airsick circling around Newark once that I took one too many for my next connecting flight and don't remember a thing!

I like the drowsy feeling of Dramamine when I'm on the plane...if I need to be more awake, I take half of one of the chewables.

I know this is too late for you, but for anyone else, I too suffer from motion sickness. I have never tried the bands, but my MIL has terrible motion sickness and they work extremely well for her. There was a Mythbusters episode and I read an article once and they both found that peppermint helped with motion sickness. There are supplements, candy, and gum with peppermint that I have on hand at the parks.

take bonine the night before. some people get drousy from bonine some people dont. i get sleepy from it so i take bonine if going to the theme parks the night before.

I have tried ginger pills, I thought they worked great, for moderate rides. For our next cruise I was thinking about asking about the prescription patch, just don't want to be sick the whole time like our last cruise. I have also tried less drowsey dramamine, and was still drowsey, I did like that for the plane ride though.

You might ask your doctor to write you a prescription for scopolamine patches, you wear a patch behind your ear, and it lasts for 3 days. They work great for me!
