Mother, Daughter and Sausage Dining Review! Final Meal - Complete 9/27!!

Wow Tracy the room is beautiful. Every single detail just brings magic. Thank you so much for sharing the pics! I envy you! The Mediterranean cruise sounds lovely as well,

I adore the POR room -- every last detail is just magical! How fun that you could have some solo park time as well.

You don't look anywhere near pregnant but I have to share that I have an AWFUL pregnant-looking shot from our trip. A truly unfortunate choice of shirt, plus a bad angle, plus the 20 pounds I need to shed anyway came together for a horrific third-trimester look on the only decent family photo we had taken. It will never see the light of day, and my face actually looks good, which makes it even harder! :crazy2: I've tried to drop around it or will myself to go back in time to put my 8yo in front of me ... nothing works!

Great review of the Royal Guest Room, Tracy! Thanks so much for taking all the pics and sharing them with us. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the preview of a Royal Guest Room! It looks like something that princesses of all ages can enjoy - the faucet and headboard effect are very cool. :thumbsup2

The pictures of the Royal Guest Room are great! It makes me so excited that I decided to splurge on one for my upcoming trip. I'm looking forward to the rest of the dining reviews. :)

Wow, Tracey, that room is absolutely beautiful. We were thinking of staying at POFQ next October. Now I am seriously considering giving a Royal room at POR a try.

As for the comment about looking pregnant, what a load of old tosh! I was looking at the pictures of our get-together at Epcot today and thinking how you and Brenda both managed to make me look like 10-tonne Tessie :scared1:

What date is your Med cruise, out of interest? We have friends on the DCL Med cruise at the end of August next year.

Thanks for sharing the photos of the PO room! Certainly princesses of all ages would be excited about staying that room - especially the cool light show on the headboard. That is similar to what they have in the Dream Suite at Disneyland.

Poor Stitch needed a friend.

I'm excited to hear about your next updates......

I've been following along but I wanted to come out of lurking to say thanks for the pictures of the royal guest rooms. That room is gorgeous!

Really love the POR room! Not sure I can convince Andrew to stay there so maybe a future trip with just DH!

What a gorgeous room!!!! I really miss staying at non DVC resorts when I see wonderful reports like this!

It's so cute isn't it? Even if it was only two nights I'm glad we got to see it.

I'm thinking I may have to go to MK solo one morning to catch the Rope Drop show as well!! I so want to see it but I can't see hubby getting up that early so many days on our trip! Although he has been getting up earlier at home so anything is possible LOL!

Oh... and I love the looks of the Cheese Danish... I may need to help myself to a few of those!

I say thumbs up to catching rope drop AND the cheese danish! I'm so glad that I got to say yes to both of those. I'm really wishing I would have had a few of those myself!

Wow Tracy the room is beautiful. Every single detail just brings magic. Thank you so much for sharing the pics! I envy you! The Mediterranean cruise sounds lovely as well,

I'm so glad you enjoyed the room pics. Disney really does amaze me with their attention to detail.

So now I really want to see that photo! :rotfl2: You'll have to send it to me privately. ;)

Thank you! I really enjoyed staying in the room too!!:lovestruc

Thanks for the preview of a Royal Guest Room! It looks like something that princesses of all ages can enjoy - the faucet and headboard effect are very cool. :thumbsup2

I think the faucet was my favorite thing!! I liked the headboard as well and I think one of us pressed the button every time we thought about it. :rotfl:

The pictures of the Royal Guest Room are great! It makes me so excited that I decided to splurge on one for my upcoming trip. I'm looking forward to the rest of the dining reviews. :)

I'm so excited for you too!! You will love it!! One of the great things about staying in the royal guest room is that it's so close to the main building. It was so hot and it was nice when you didn't have to walk too far!

Oh my goodness, "10-tonne Tessie" you are NOT!! That's for sure!

I loved the room and loved POR! If you haven't stayed there before I'd recommend it. But I also loved the small cozy feel of POFQ too. I'm not sure what I'd do now because I love both!

We are going on the June 1st Med cruise next year. We were going to go in August but we figured out that it was too close to Eilee starting high school. So instead she has to miss the last few days of school. But she said that she'd rather be in Rome than at a track meet on the last day of school!

that room is stunning - hurry along with more reviews :)

Thanks, I thought it was stunning too!

That room is gorgeous! Love the fireworks in the picture on the headboard! :)

I love that headboard too. We had so much fun and I think we were discovering things up until the time we left!

Yes, even "princesses of an advanced age" can enjoy the royal guest room! :rotfl2:

I've been following along but I wanted to come out of lurking to say thanks for the pictures of the royal guest rooms. That room is gorgeous!

Thanks for coming out of lurkdom!! I'm glad to hear that you liked the pictures of the guest rooms!

I love the room pictures, so beautiful.

It really was beautiful and so much fun to stay in that room!

Really love the POR room! Not sure I can convince Andrew to stay there so maybe a future trip with just DH!

Maybe you can surprise Andrew with it? "Wow, I had no idea that this room was decorated this way!" :lmao: He wouldn't believe that for a second, would he? :rotfl:

So stepping back a little bit, I'd hit MK in the morning and then went back to the room to get Eilee moving and to check out. When I arrived Eilee was all showered and getting ready. We checked out of CSR and went to the bus stop. We were going to Epcot this morning because we had a lunch ADR at 12:15 Les Chefs de France. We had just missed the Epcot bus and we waited, and waited and waited for another. Finally we saw the MK bus and decided to get on and we'd catch the monorail to the TTC and then to Epcot. It sounded like a good plan until the monorail had issues. We were stuck on it for a long...long...long time. It was getting very close to our ADR time by the time we got there but I was determined to get Soarin' fast passes before we ate or we might never get to ride!

We got the fast passes and speed walked to France. (That sounds silly doesn't it?). It was getting very hot out by this time and we were sweaty and tired by the time we got there. We ran to the podium because we were just a few minutes and checked in. The fellow told us not to worry, that we would be seated "immediately" which we were. :) We were taken inside and led to a table toward the left side of the restaurant in the back next to the window. Of course our table was right in the sun and we were already hot. I considered asking for a table that was not in the sun but decided to just stay put and I'm so glad that I did... Here is a photo of our table.
DSC00599_640x425_.jpg

I apologize to the man in the background who is taking a big old bite! :rotfl2: Also notice that bowl of soup in front of Eilee, this will come into play later. Anyway, as soon as we sat down, our server Marion came over to take our drink order. She was so calming and could probably see that I was hot and she brought my iced tea right away along with a baguette and butter.
DSC00595_640x425_.jpg

The baguette was very good and the butter pats were not rock hard (but not warm either) which was nice. Mmm...butter.

Marion explained the menu to us and made several recommendations. We decided that Eilee would do the prix fixe menu and I would order something of my own along with a dessert. Eilee doesn't like onions so we agreed that she would order the soupe l'oignon gratinee (onion soup) but I would eat it because she didn't really want an appetizer but I did!:thumbsup2 The soup came right away and even though we told Marion that I would be eating it, she was a smart cookie and she insisted on bringing two soup spoons. ;) As soon as Eilee got a look at the cheese on this soup she said she thought she might "have a taste".
DSC00594_640x425_.jpg

Well, a taste turned into fighting me for it! I would pull the bowl over to me and then she would pull it back over to her. This is seriously the best onion soup I have ever had. Eilee said that she now loves onion soup! The amount of cheese in this soup is insane. Some people might be overwhelmed with this much cheese but you see friends, when one comes from Wisconsin it is impossible to overwhelm one with too much cheese! :lmao: Time to pull out those lactose intolerance drops! There were quite a few mmmmm's and aaaaahhhh's while sharing this soup (and I use the word "sharing" loosely).

While we were enjoying our soup we started to see a steady stream of characters walking by our window! The CM entrance was right next to the restaurant so when they came out or switched off with their replacement(shhhh....I didn't say that) they would walk in and out right there! Here are Belle & Beast
DSC00598_640x425_.jpg

And then Belle walked right through those bushes and up to the window to say hi to Eilee! And of course I was so surprised that I didn't get the photo in time.
DSC00596_640x425_.jpg

We also saw Marie and Aurora several times too. I think we had the very best seat in the house!

Our entrees arrived in no time! I ordered the A la Flame Alsacienne (a flatbread with creme fraiche, onion and bacon.)
DSC00605_640x425_.jpg

To quote Eilee again I "lerved" this flatbread! I don't even think you can call it a flatbread because the crust is so light and flaky. Not like any other flatbread I've had. The toppings were not too heavy which was nice after all of that cheese from the soup! And you can never go wrong with bacon.

Eilee had the Gratin de Macaroni (macaroni & cheese).
DSC00607_640x425_.jpg

I wish I would have taken a photo of the inside of this dish because it was so thick and creamy. It was made with gruyere which is a little different than Eilee is used to. But like her mom, she is an equal opportunity cheese lover and she gave it a chance. And truth be told, I gave it a chance too! :rotfl: And it was great! This dish was a little bit heavy but Eilee didn't seem to care and ate more of it than I thought she would. I think it had a hint of nutmeg in it which I liked. As she was eating I said "save some room for dessert" and she laughed. She said "I think that's the first time you've ever told me to NOT eat so much of my main dish so that I can eat more dessert" :rotfl2: I think she's right! Only at Disney!

When we were finishing up our entrees...this guy showed up!
DSC00608_640x425_.jpg

I hadn't told Eilee that he might show up (in case he didn't) so she was so surprised and thought it was the best! pixiedust: The CM that brings him around, Armand, was so fun and I know that he must be on a schedule so that he can get to the entire restaurant but it didn't feel that way.

For dessert Eilee ordered the creme brulee of course
DSC00613_640x424_.jpg

I knew she was getting full but she managed to eat almost the entire dish and she "lerved" it of course!

I ordered the profiteroles au chocolat
DSC00614_640x425_.jpg

While I enjoyed this dish (a lot), it was the only thing that was less than stellar here. It is like a cream puff but filled with ice cream and topped with chocolate sauce. I loved the taste of this dish but the choux pastry puff was very dry, almost stale or something. Fortunately the ice cream and decadent chocolate sauce saved it from being bad (take more lactose intolerance drops here). I still ended up enjoying the profiteroles but I would have liked them more if the choux puffs were a little more fresh.

When we discussed our trip, we both agreed that this was our favorite meal. It was a combination of things that made this our favorite meal because based on just food or just atmosphere it may have been another restaurant. But our server was so friendly and attentive and she kept our glasses full, our table was in such a great spot and we had so much fun waving at the characters that walked by (and they all acknowledged us), little touches like Remy coming by our table, and the food was exactly the kind of food we wanted at that exact time. It also seemed like the servers were having a good time working there. I saw a lot of smiles and interaction between the servers but it wasn't so much that it took time away from their guests. Just a fun atmosphere.

Up next..a DISmeet!

Ok... Chef's de France was not on the radar because I originally had Bistro de Paris booked but now that is closed for Refurb during my trip so we are missing a French meal! I may need to schedule this! I'm thinking it might be good on the day we start at DHS and end at Epcot... I was thinking of 50's PT there but we will have had fried chicken the night before at HDDR. I know hubby would be happy if I booked a French place!! We did go there in '09 and were not super impressed but your review makes it look so good!

Les Chefs looks wonderful. We really enjoyed our experience there in May - it had been a few years since we'd last been there, but it was a solid meal with great service. And now I'm actually in the mood for their crème brûlée! :thumbsup2

I know you told us that you had a great view of the characters but you really weren't kidding. What a great table location :thumbsup2

I love that Eilee suddenly decided that she liked 'your' soup and that you had to fight her for it.

I was going to say that I was glad you got your fast passes but then I remembered that, actually, I was not - as it meant you had to leave our little meet early ;)

Looking forward to the next update (and not just because I'm in it) :rotfl2:

Loving the report! Had to LOL because my DD and I didn't think we liked onion soup either and once we went to Chefs we were hooked!

It was just what we were hungry for at that time! I sure hope you like it if you decide to book. I know we did!

Les Chefs looks wonderful. We really enjoyed our experience there in May - it had been a few years since we'd last been there, but it was a solid meal with great service. And now I'm actually in the mood for their crème brûlée! :thumbsup2
For some reason I was surprised that this meal turned out to be our favorite because I really didn't expect it. It's probably best that way - when something impresses you that you didn't expect rather than to build something up and have it just be meh. It was a pleasant surprise!

I know you told us that you had a great view of the characters but you really weren't kidding. What a great table location :thumbsup2

I was actually very torn about leaving our DISmeet to ride Soarin' because I was having so much fun and I wanted to stay. I guess I'm glad that we did use the fastpass because that was our only chance to ride Soarin' but I wish we would have walked over to see if you all wanted to hang out longer!

Loving the report! Had to LOL because my DD and I didn't think we liked onion soup either and once we went to Chefs we were hooked!

I'm hooked now too! There is no way that I'll be able to go to Disney next time and NOT have that onion soup!
