Most Outrageous Complaint Overheard

I'm not trying to be rude here but why would that be Disney Worlds fault? I don't understand why they should replace something that was beyond their control.

She's not saying it was Disney's fult..she's simply commenting that if you are a PITA and complain, you get a new one, if you just clen up your own mess and don't say anything, yo don't get a new one.
I understand that it is a business decision - the one ho cleans up after himself recognizes that it was not Disney's fault and will continue to be Disney guests, the one who complains may just never visit Disney again, all for the price of a 20 cent dole whip (Disney's actual cost)...the latter make up a large enough portion of the customer base, that they need to be appeased...but it still rings as unjust that the nice people wind up on the short end.

Most place I have been to and drooped my drink or ice cream (I'm kinda clumsy) when I go up to replace it they give me the replacement for free. They usually say something like weren't you just here? and I say I drop it, with no complaints and they give it to me for free. I don't expect this because I know it's my fault that I drooped it.
I think alot of people are just out to get as much as they can for free! Then have fit fit when they don't!!!

At Chef Mickey's last Spring and a man and his family showed up 30 minutes past their ADR time. The hostess politely told him it would be 5-10 minute wait for a table and directed him to the seating area. He went nutso, screaming and yelling at her that since he was late "his" table should already be available and waiting for him. And it was the Disney transportation that made him late (it took him 30 minutes to get there; if I remember correctly he had been at HS - I don't know the route he took to Chef Mickeys but apparently thought the bus was his own personal taxi cab and would whisk him right over to CM's). They offered the man and family some beverages while they waited and assured him if would just be a few minutes, even tried to explain ADR's to him but he would have none of it. He just kept screaming and cursing about how Disney s*cked and this wasn't right.

I just don't know how hungry you need to be or how badly you want to take your picture with Mickey that you behave this way in front of your own kids nonetheless :confused3

Great stories...I wish I had a Disney one to add.
(I've heard so pretty hilariously stupid complaints here on the boards,
but that's a diffferent topic.)

Closest thing I heard is really more Daytona than Disney

My wife and I were down to visit and arrived at our (non disney) hotel late, checked in. Next morning got up early to go to the Daytona 500. We were hungry and there was a McDonalds with a giant 24 hour sign on so we thought we'd hit the drive through before our drive up to the speedway. Get get to the drive through and a voice comes over the speaker....
"Hold on a minute, we're not quite open"
I say..."The sign says your open 24 hours"
They reply back..."ya but not always".

:lmao: they must have lost allot of money on ill prepared tourists this winter!

Ha! Not on me and DH this past January. We were there during the marathon and it was FREEZING. We are now the proud owners of 3 new and different Disney sweatshirts/hoodies each :rotfl:

Back on topic...As we were strolling through Epcot WS we could hear a man louldly tell his wife and kids "I aint paying $$$ for no damn fries when they got 'em at Burger King for a dollar!"

I just shook my head and felt so sorry for his wife and little kids. Some people will never get it.

Hmm. Last October we got some dole whip floats and went to sit at the table to eat them. MY 10 yr old DS picked his up and the condensation on the plastic cup made it slippery and it slipped out of his hand down the front of his shirt to the ground. He was so upset. We quickly grabbed the cup and scooped off the top that was all yucky. ALL of this was witnessed by a CM that was sweeping. She moved right in and cleaned up under the table as we sat there. Never did she tell us to get a new one in fact it was a little annoying trying to move out of her way so she could clean as we were trying to clean DS and salvage a little of his treat. :sad2:

DH gave DS his dole whip and once he was finished I took him to a store so we could buy a new shirt. I mentioned to the CM as I was paying what happened (just chit chat) she never offered anything for free.

Nothing was offered to me for free but I never complained or asked for it either. Now I would have never expected a free shirt but it would have been nice if the CM would have replaced DS's dole whip when she clearly saw what happened. There would have been no scamming involved.

Well if I was still a CM, and I witnessed that, the first thing I would do is ask you if your son needed a new shirt. I would then call my manager so he/she could take care of everything without you trying to find your way to guest relations. I would then make your son a brand new dole whip.:) There were several times I saw junior drop his ice cream cone, and I had another one ready in seconds. That CM just didn't care, and that is a shame. It is also sad that people scam the systme, and others, who really had a misfourtune, get looked over.

We took our RV to FW a couple of years ago, there was a family camping in a tent beside us. That night it sounded as if the sky was falling from all the rain, well when we woke up the next morning we went outside to find the family in the tent demanding to a CM that Disney give them a hotel room for the rest of their stay, pay to dry clean their clothes and other items, oh and buy them an outfit to wear that day since their clothes were wet. Their reasoning (and yes this came from their mouth) is that DISNEY LET it rain on their vacation, therefore ruining their plans.

:lmao:

Now I feel bad because I did drop my soda once...when I went up to replace it, they just gave me a new one....crud.....they must have thought I was trying to get over on them....

Probably not;). It was the people who came up, and said "I dropped my soda", and I said, "I would be happy to replace it for you, what flavor would you care for?", and then the kids said, "oh momma get me one too", and then the lady said, "a sprite AND a coke".:) Then the kid says, "momma tell her I dropped my slushie so I can get one"

:surfweb: Love this thread. And to think, when my four year old had a Mickey bar and it melted quickly in the 90+ degree heat and fell on the ground...I simply paid for a replacement. It never occured to me to think I was entiltled to a free replacement because my child was four and didn't know any better. I just figured I did know better, as the parent, and dropped the ball on that one!:confused3

Once when I was getting off the bus at AK some woman behind me started loudly complaining about how the people on the trams were let off closer to the gate and that she shouldn't have to walk so far since she's a resort guest :lmao:

Several years ago, my Mom and I had ADRs at the Italian restaurant in the Italy Pavilion at Epcot. While we were waiting to be seated, we could see a man in a heated discussion with the CM at the podium. All of the sudden, he screamed "Who ever heard of making reservations at an amusement park!?!" :rotfl:

I feel like I see this all the time. While you're waiting a few minutes to be seated or standing in line to check in, there always seems to be someone who has no clue about ADRs having a fit over not being able to get a table.

About Fast Passes:

I was in a FP line walking by a family in the other line when the teen son asked his parents why couldn't they get FP and use the other line. The parents replied that you have to pay for them.

I understand at a lot of parks you do pay for them (luv u DIsney!) but that one is even on the park map for crying out loud.

This wasn't overheard, but said directly to me!

The last trip I went on, I went with my (now ex) boyfriend during the Christmas season (week between Christmas and New Year's). It was his first trip there and no matter HOW MUCH I tried to prepare him for what was to come, he would not listen to me! :confused3

So when we finally got there, everything was fine for the first day or so, then the complaints started rolling in...it was too crowded, he had to get up too early, we were trying to do too much stuff at once, ect. I informed him over and over again that if he had just listened to me when I tried to tell him what he could expect, we would not be in this situation!!

Never mind the fact that I worked my butt off to make sure we saw ALL the major attractions, got fastpasses, saw a couple minor attractions, got something to eat, and be ready to go back for lunch and a nap within three hours of park opening...but that's another story in itself. :scared1:

He would be my ex-boyfriend, too, after that!

A few years back, at the Boardwalk's front desk a woman demanded to speak to a manager, she wanted her money back from the character breakfast she had attended that morning ----at the Crystal Palace which is NO WHERE near the Boardwalk, but she was staying at Boardwalk. Anyway, she wanted her money back because Winnie the Pooh spent more time w/ other children at other tables than he did w/ her child at their table! I couldn't believe my ears, but they did bring a manager out to speak w/ her (don't know what the outcome was) but my husband and I just looked at eachother in amazement.

Like I said in my post I NEVER complained or asked for anything. We made due with what we had and went and purchased a new shirt. I never asked for anything. My comment was simply saying the CM stood there and saw the whole thing. The cold plastic cup was slippery from the heat. It was brand new, not one bite eaten. Had just been given to my DS. I guess it would have been nice if they had wrapped a napkin around it or something. As an adult I know enough to watch for those things, a 10 year old doesn't know to watch for that.

I was never implying I expected something. If I had expected something I would have complained. What I said is it would have been nice if the CM who witnessed the whole thing had gone a little out of her way to make a crying 10 year old's day brighter.

It didn't ruin our trip by any means and the only reason I thought of it was because the PP said WDW gives free stuff for all those complaints. I was simply pointing out my situation was worse than any of those and no CM made any attempt to give anything free, nor did I ask for it!

I agree. You should have gotten a new one. If only complainers are compensated then everyone will have to start complaining! In Disney's defense, though, they did witness something that happened while we were there and compensated us when they didn't have to! It was the best move they could have done, too, because it was at that moment I decided to buy DVC!:thumbsup2

May I add to the freebie shirt discussion?

While I was not at WDW at the time I still feel it is relevent to show that some of us do not throw a tantrum when things happen that are not our fault.

I was at Daytona Speedway and we where doing the tour, as the tour bus\cart pulled up to empty us out we experienced a typical afternoon deluge. What the hey, I'm Scottish and well used to downpours although ours will last all day, every day, every summer. ;) I walked at normal pace towards the cover of the shop and as I stepped onto the unsigned, freshly mopped, soapy and slippery walkway, I was barged from behind by the bus driver who was obviously in some haste to get out of the rain. Due to this thump in the back, I began to slip forward but in my attempt to right myself I over-corrected and fell back, thumping my head on the tiles.

Can you say concussion? To say I've experienced concussion before is an understatement and I knew it wasn't too bad, sore and extremely uncomfortable but not too bad. Almost as soon as I'd stood myself back up I was whisked into the gift shop by the manager and told to pick anything I wanted. All I said to him was 'don't worry, accidents happen'. I settled on a t-shirt and the look of relief on his face was palpable as I'm sure he was worried that I would sue. The driver was rather clumsy but I doubt very much that he intended to push me over. Sore head for a day but no real harm done.

I'm sure guests like you are a breath of fresh air for them!:thumbsup2

Thanks for being the CM that makes us all keep going back!:thumbsup2

About 4 years ago, I overheard a Disney guest trying to get a reimbursement for his vacation because the ceiling fan had a slight wooble to it. WOW.:cool1::banana:

Once when I was getting off the bus at AK some woman behind me started loudly complaining about how the people on the trams were let off closer to the gate and that she shouldn't have to walk so far since she's a resort guest :lmao:

I may have thought that at times, but I'd never say it out loud!!:lmao:

While working at wdw I heard it all, but my favorite were guests who you knew were full of it in order to get free stuff.

Examples: (some mine some other CMs)

Columbia Harbor House....
Man... "someone threw away our food"
CM.... "okay sir, what happend"
Man... "well we got our food, we sat down, then my kids wanted to ride HM, so we went to ride it, and when we came back, our food was gone"

CM went to get a manager, manager replaced 50 dollars worth of food.

Launching Pad
Me(cm)-"Hello, what can I get for you?"
woman-"Well we bought 3 turkey legs, and a large coke and they were cold."
Me... "I do appologise, did you just buy them""
woman..."no, I bought them on the other side of the park hours ago, and they were cold, so we threw them away, you need to give me 3 free turkey legs, and a free coke"
Me.."I am sorry, I cannot give you anything for free, but I would be more than happy to call my manager, and I am sure she will resolve your issue"
Her..."No, I will just pay for them"
Me.. "that will be 17.50"
Her.. "you could have just given them to me"
Me.. "like I said ma'am, I would be more than happy to call my manager, or you can go to guest relations"
Her..."screw you, here is your 17 bucks"

If someone splashes water on themselves in the bathroom, disney will give them a new shirt.

If I told Guest Relations that someone stole my bag full of souvies, and I lost my receipt, they will replace everything in the bag.

If I walk up to any food stand, and say "I dropped my coke" I will get a free coke.

If I walk up to any food stand, and say, "I dropped my pretzle, I will get a free one" (anything more than 5 bucks is when a manager is called)

My point..... no matter how stupid the complaint may be, Disney will try to resolve it. And yes, I have heard of them giving someone a free sweatshirt because it is cold in florida.

Wow. I am totally amazed at how greedy and awful people can be.

Now I feel guilty for the one time that I went to Guest Relations to complain after I learned the hard way that the kids coloring stations in Epcot use permanent markers. I discovered this after my dd colored all over her shirt. I felt better when they offered me a free shirt, but that was not what I wanted. I wanted management to know that some idiot put out permanent markers for kids. And to get them pulled so others wouldn't have my same horrible experience.

I am sure now they thought I was just another person begging for freebies.
